It's was very noticable when Ali took to the stage, that he couldn't stop staring at Diana Ross. Even while Whitney sang his eyes were fixated on Diana. Who could blame him...
How my heart aches.... this was a great lost for all of mankind..... how i love this man.... how i wished i had the honour of meeting this man.... for he was the greatest..... i smile when i look at him...and i tear up at the same time..... Blessings to his family....
Whitney Houston was a gem! Her beauty was effortless, her stage presence was a gift and her VOICE was unmatched and still is. God bless her. R.I.P Whitney ❤️
R.I.P Whitney, Diana, Muhammad and all black people, from their slavery these people invented the music, the dancing and the sports, these are the only people who made the US an exceptional country.
Diana, Whitney, Ella Fitzgerald being helped to the fore by two of the Pointer Sisters, with Little Richard, Hammer and Four Tops backing up. Pretty epic.
The remarkable thing about Ali was his persona as a "Warrior of the Heart" as much as a gladiator in the ring. He shook the world with his vaulting idealism and courage only champions possess. Truly the greatest !!!
The Greatest Athlete of all times, the rest are just numbers, tears roll down from my eyes when he beat George Foreman and tears from my eyes when Larry Holmes stopped him,Ali is my Hero forever(Alfateha) to Greatest ever,Love you Champ..
Diana Ross and Whitney Houston on the same stage. Awesome. Diana looks magnificent as always. She really can work any style. True elegance. I Can't say enough about Diana Ross. Love love love Miss Ross.
Mann diana geezzzzz what a Beauty..why girls dont bring back that syle of a woman looking beautiful in dresses ..mannn diana live it up to the highest level ever...she should get an award for the artist with the best ever dresses
Ali lit up when Diana, his loyal friend throughout all his earliest trials and tribulations, walked onstage. Diana fell to her knees at Ali's feet in his dressing room, uncontrollably crying when he lost to Frazier, and Ali comforted her. She was there again and jumped into ringside when he won against Frazier, second bout. Ali had great people in his corner...and many of them were on that stage..
It is appropriate that greatness honors greatness!! Diana has been in awe of Ali since she was a young girl. When Ali was beaten by Joe Frazier in their first fight in Madison Square garden while reclining in his dressing room nobely after his defeat a young women was in their with many others crying hysterically hanging on to his leg like she had just list her Mother!! The young woman was Diana Ross. I will never forget it. It was the essence of his wonderful humanity. Thanks Diana, Thanks Whitney, And most of all thank you Brother For floating like a butter fly, but stinging like a bee, there will never ever be another, Muhammad Ali!!
Diana was unique, she gets everything right -- vocal talent, fashion ,business sense, stage presence, glamour, style, confidence. It's no wonder so many were jealous of her. She draws you in with her confidence and excellence. . She was also a versatile singer, not something every singer can claim or even wants to claim
Yes Diana is like a mythical creature whom I've loved since I was 12 yrs. old. She is fascinating...her life story is the stuff of showbiz legend...not the same for Whitney or Barbara, or Cher...
Diana Ross, Whitney Houston & Muhammad Ali? It doesn't get better than that! This week alone, I cried four times for Muhammad Ali. If this is not magic, then I don't know what magic is! Too big a void left by Ali!
The best thing in this clip for me was to see Legendary Smokin' Joe Frazier attending the GOAT's 50th birthday. What a scene! Ali-Frazier fights were the among the best in the heavyweight history. Who can forget Thrilla in Manilla?! Rest in Peace, The Greaest Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Now at peace with friends and foe, With Liston, Cooper and Smokin' Joe.
Along with Jerry Quarry, Ron Lyle, Cleveland Williams, Oscar Bonavena, just to name a few more of the formidable competition that Muhammad faced and bested, in the 60s and 70s. Yes, it was great to see Smokin Joe and Earnie Shavers at his 50th. A great champion and a wonderful era for heavyweights.
🙋🏾♂️I SHALL RETURN !!!!!!!! , YES CHAMP !! YOU HAVE RETURNED TO THE PARADISE ... where you came from to lift up our human lives ... !! 🙏🏾🙏🏾 thank you very much !!!
Diana was THE FIRST!!!! Before Diana there was no one. And, she started so young, with The Supremes, and you saw her evolving right before your very eyes. The longer she performed the better she got. Her hunger to learn the art of performance, how to ‘control’ an audience, how to be a fully formed all around entertainer was almost palpable, and you could see that she gave it everything that she had, ALL the time!! While her other peers were going shopping, and laughing and refusing to attend the Maxine Powell ‘finishing/ charm school classes’ Diana was there, soaking it all up. She wanted to be the BEST, and my God did she ever accomplish it too!! It’s only when the rewards of all that learning, how to connect with an audience, ANY audience, helped The Supremes start to get bookings in nightclubs and venues that had never engaged a black group before, and the fact that Berry had noticed how hard Diana was willing to work, did all those absurd rumours begin. In fact she showed those other artists up and they despised her for wanting more, and actually working to get it!! Even Marvin Gaye, who wanted to be the king to Diana’s queen of Motown, wouldn’t go an inch out of his way to learn the essentials, yet was right up there complaining long and loudly that he wasn’t getting what Diana got. And she continued with that work ethic, after she left The Supremes and for the rest of her career. Diana was and is a professional, in the truest sense of the word. I’ve met Diana and became friends with her for a while in the early 80’s and was her guest backstage at some of her shows, and believe me, I went round (while she was doing the second show of the evening) and spoke with everyone who worked for her and everyone backstage, trying to find out what the real tea was, and not ONE PERSON had anything bad to say about her. Yes, she likes to be called Miss Ross...Damn straight...she has WORKED to be afforded that respect!! Of course she’s not the world’s best singer (if you’re talking about runs and belting and all the rest of it) but my God, she is the real deal, and knows EXACTLY what she’s doing when she steps on stage and she takes total control. She truly is something else entirely... she radiates and she puts on THE show!! Whitney knew all of this that I’m saying about her as well, and she gave it up to Diana, for the exact reasons I have explained. Whitney could sing Diana under the table, and she refined her stagecraft hugely over her career, but she could never out Diana Diana...no mam!! They each acknowledged the strengths of the other, and liked each other precisely because they both knew what it takes to be what they were. I have complete and total love and respect for both of them. We will never see their likes again that’s for sure!! Goddesses. 🥰🌟🧡
At Marilyn: Do you work for Diana? All the artists you mentioned they worked hard. But during that time period, there was room for one black artist only. And it still may be true today. And by the way there were several great (black female) artists before her.
I don’t know why people keep comparing Diana to Whitney, only to try to denigrate Diana. Diana was/is where Whitney was then & actually has exceeded that in many respects for she had the longevity & diverse accomplishments in terms of genre of music, acting, & business savvy. Diana is also twenty plus years older, even though she may not look like it. Whenever these types of functions exist where significant black artists &/or participants are present, these are the times when a certain mentality like to use the opportunity to denigrate Diana. Yet, if she did not partake in many of these functions they would also denigrate her for not partaking.
Those people, like many people just don't understand what so many found appealing about Diana's high-pitched squeaky voice. Too bad for them, they'll never comprehend, no matter how much you explain it
Her voice has a beautiful tone and pitch. Her voice is of her voice type; she has a strong voice, but it’s light. Yet, it can’t be drowned-out easily, due to the way it carries. That’s why Flo never could drown Diana out, but she could Mary. Even here, you can clearly hear Diana singing distinctively out of all those singers. Her voice stands out. Flo’s voice didn’t stand out. Louder does not mean better.
@@classanddignity Let's face it the difference is Diana's persona is bigger than life...she created what we call "pop diva" all by herself. The first black girl to make white girls want to be the black girl.
They use to have a Muhammad Ali burger back in the day you know, fist full of fries. I wonder what that was like, did they put they lettuce and tomatoes on it or nah...?

She really did because she could’ve easily overpowered Diana with one note
