0:44 The customer and technician had a good laugh when the technician showed him the issue. The shop previously had replaced valve cover gaskets and a wiring harness.

1:15 The technician said the customer got their insurance company involved and is not quite sure what is going to happen quite yet. The car is lowered as well.
1:32 Brake rotor on the wrong way.
1:41 Looks like camping gear in bags that was making a noise.
1:49 Customer had instrument cluster displaying battery voltage, no issues luckily.
1:58 Vehicle was a Ford Focus SE with the ST badge. Let's hope the airbag does not deploy!
2:05 The technician said he was on lunch when the cops were called so unfortunately he didn't get any photos/clips of that. But the car was towed away (not sure where too).
2:19 If you have to cut out a piece of your frame to install any part you're doing something wrong or have the wrong part! (Customer said he installed the starter as well, just in case you're wondering).
The rear brake rotors were very worn as well!

@@XPFTP and you'd have just as much luck as you would, if a random person on the street called the cops. The difference is, in some states the shop has an obligation to call about unsafe vehicles (usually states with vehicle inspections) especially if said shop wants to continue doing vehicle inspections.
Don't worry, there are shops (and states) that simply don't care.
That vehicle was clearly a danger to anyone else on the road (including the owner)
Depending on the state, they probably just got a "fix it ticket" anyway🤷♂️

Simply STUPID!
call the cops if you see a damaged vehicle driving on the road like that box truck
yea, if that thing falls of it could kill someone for sure, imagtion that hitting someone on a motorbike...
It more than likely was in accident and was being driven to the junkyard. Should have had straps to hold it together, but some states don't care about safety.
Probably just happened and driver is still unaware!😂
@@americansmark It should've had the box taken off and hauled PROPERLY to the junk yard.
It's surprising that the driver drove it in that condition. He better hope that he still has a job after his boss sees the truck.
Mechanic: You’re vehicle is a death trap.
Customer: Stop trying to up charge me!
I get people being wary of what a shop tells them. I can't understand that specific customer refusing repairs to that death trap. The tire was so bald you could see the air and that broken trailing arm...That was something different...
@@nboddie1036 Exactly!

You dont technically need tires on the car or brakes that's just ridiculous
@@nboddie1036 At that point it's probably because they can't afford it. No sane person (who is intelligent enough to understand how to start a car) would drive with that unless they couldn't afford it and they had no other options.
😂 the radio one got me. Thought something was wrong with the engine until he turned off the radio.
They probably should have revved up the engine to see if the noise sped up. The radio is on AM which will pick up radio interference, spark jumping to ground for instance. Or, changed the channel, if the noise followed, it could be in the radio, or its ground/ power supply filter.
@@crabbypapa3862 My old Fiesta used to do that if the radio was tuned right (or wrong, depending on your perspective). I never realised it was actually a common thing until now!
It didn't sound like it was broken or anything, it basically perfectly amplified the engine noise. Like those fake engine noise speakers some cars have but from 1998.
I'm dying over that one!! 😂😂😂😂
My '01 F250 does that too. Ford essentially wired the radio to the injectors (the noise capacitors, I think; been awhile since I looked at the wiring diagram).
Although, this looked like a 7.3 diesel in the clip, (mine is a 6.8 gas) so I wonder if they wired it up similarly or not.
Way too many people and have no cognitive deductions skills. In other words just plain old stupid. The radio making the engine noise is a prime example of stupid.
And worse, we let the stupid people to continue to breed.

The service manager who called the cops on the “declined repairs” customer is a legend!

Absolutely! Imagine how you would feel if you decided not to do anything, and that person caused a wreck and killed someone.
dude narc'd on his customer
I bet he sleeps good at night.
Should happen way more often
Leaving something in the intake or having dirt go in there is one of my biggest fears while working on it 😂
We would feed Detroits shop rags for fun.
I recently did this on a Jaguar F-Type after replacing the coolant outlet pipes under the supercharger because the hood opens the opposite way I didnt see the rag I used to block the runners. Had a mis-fire and I drove it around a bit. Luckily it only jammed the intake valves open and nothing happened.
I did the same, car would only run at idle. Doh.
I had to replace intake gaskets on my Astro van. A year later the van develops a wicked misfire. Take it in to the shop, they originally thought burn valve because there was no compression. They take it apart to find a piece of aluminum (almost looked the bottom of a can) in the intake runner that was holding the valve open. I certainly didn't put it in there when I had the intake off. Shit was in there for years before it ever caused a problem
The irony of putting a rag in something to block debris from getting in only for said rag to become the debris that gets in 😮. I'm in HVAC business and I've seen the rubber plug that comes inside HVACR type L copper left in and brazed together.
between the rotor and the other customer refusing repair, these videos just get better and better. long live (but probably not!) the customer that does their own work!
Refusing life-threatening repair should be illegal
IM FINALLY GLAD SOMEONE CALLED THE COPS ON A DUMBASS! Get these people off the road!! lol
I do my own work. I do just fine. Are you suggesting the only way to do it right is to pay $180/hr?
@@GogogoFolowMe ..Thing with that some mechanics will screw people over with unnecessary repairs saying its illegal and the customer will pay thousands for work that was NOT needed...Example they will say your ball joints are gone and your brakes are worn when nothing is wrong/worn out. @@major__kong well I was talking about the customers that show up on this channel doing their own work. I assume from your comment you won't be one of them.
The backwards installed rotor made me laugh out loud!
Same! 😅
Should not smoke weed while working on brakes.
I put rotors on backwards all the time.... of course, after I spray them down with brake kleen I put them on properly
How do they come to the conclusion that its the studs, and/or another issue after taking off the old rotor? How?? Its disturbing how they can't work out what the (very simple) issue is despite it being right in front of them. 😆🤣🤣
Guy 1: "I think.......I think the studs shrunk when we weren't looking😵💫!!"
Guy 2: "Yeah, Iv'e heard of that, it usually happens when you change the wheel in the rain, but can happen from time to time. Lets go down the parts store and order some longer ones🤤"
Certified 'emmerfugengawd' moment from those guys.
After watching each video, I have confidence I can change the oil and not blow the engine up.
You can do it 💪
That's way more confidence than I have.
Well you also need a garage with a channel, and disposing of the old oil is strictly regulated. If you just dump it somewhere, that's criminal.
@@coladict No, you don't need a garage with a channel (unless you have some exotic car with extremely low ground clearance). A jack and jack stands are perfectly fine. As for disposing of the used oil, pretty much every auto parts store in the US (can't speak for other countries) will take the old oil off your hands for free. At that point, it's no longer your problem.
@@coladictbeen changing my oil for years. Just need some ramps(if vehicle is too low to ground) and an oil pan to collect the oil. Most auto parts stores around where I Live allow you to bring your used motor oil for free recycling.
Wow shout out to the tech who takes on the challenge of fixing a customers wiring job when it looks like that
Nothing was fixed, it was just totally removed and replaced with the correct harness and heating element.
Speaker wire, the customer used speaker wire for a seat heating element...Someone clearly knows nothing of electronics, electricity, resistance...
Yeah, I've made spaghetti that looked easier to sort out that that.

The ones with random noises that have obvious sources like having metal pipes in the trunk or the radio to a random channel (who even listens to AM radio nowadays) always get me. It's like the person didn't even try to locate it, even with just a cursory look, before bringing it somewhere that they will have to pay to have it looked at. I don't know about everyone else, but I don't have the money to be bringing my stuff to a shop without at least a little investigating on my part.
Some people are incredibly lazy.
When something starts making noise in the suspension I just start replacing parts until the noise stops. On this last one I got it first try. 😂

@@patricktrimble7954Hey, if ya have a dream, no distance is too far.
I can relate to that rattling noise clip. I just bought a used Honda Fit earlier this week when I noticed the noise yesterday. I opened the hatch to realize that the tire iron pouch was jiggling around and secured it. Problem solved and heart attack avoided.
Nice diagnosis. And congrats on your Fit! It's a real gem of a car.
And you avoided having to pay to be told that you are an idiot.
I had a rattle for months, but only under certain conditions. Then one day I realized what it was, and tightened the tire change jack in its holder. 😅
My first car was an old Toyota Hilux, had the same issue with a rattling noise in the back that turned out to be the jack and pouch in a side storage compartment in the back. Popped the back seats up to put it away and there was already a full kit in there. :P
0:25 My son did something similar. He’d done serious upgrades to the suspension and tires, and was pulling 1.4 G laterally at an autocross. While he had the right amount of oil, it was a stock motor, with its minuscule windage tray. So on a long left-hander the oil pickup was just sucking air. Serious rod knock, and a nice golden sheen on the oil when he drained it.
Superfastmatt did something similar, put a motorbike engine in a car and forgot that bikes lean into corners so their engines assume the oil is always at the bottom. The oil went to the sides and the engine starved.
What's the golden sheen from?

It's kinda low-key blackmail and extortion tho... the customer doesn't have a choice but to do business with you or you call the cops. Meanwhile you can charge just about as much as you want because the customer gets a ticket and points on insurance if they don't accept your offer. I'd be giving that place a terrible review. The customer probably doesn't even know the garage called on them but the garage could've been up front and told them: "Hey this isn't safe to drive and if you leave in the car we are obligated to notify authorities; if you don't want to take our offer, here is a list of towing companies to get your car home." "I just wanted my oil changed and this shop wanted to replace a bunch of things I didn't ask for! When I refused they called some crooked cops on me! Uh! Can't find an honest mechanic these days!"
The loud ticking noise got me laughing
They called the cops! I love it!
Thank you for calling the police on that unsafe car. More people/shops need to do that.
2:12 Perfect action!! Shop manager needs a bonus for making the street a little safer without stupid people and dangerous cars.
Was expecting "shop got taken to court because MUH FREEDUMZ".
seemed a bit chickenshit to me.
@@BuriedFlameHopefully. Or they had a mysterious fire break out.
That box truck must have escaped the clutches of the 11’8.
A nice Sunday laugh !! Thank you.
It's hard to even imagine importing a car from US, after seeing all these videos. Every week something unexpected happens
There aren't any more problems with U.S. made cars, that there are with European made cars or Japanese made cars. The problem is the cars owner, if you payed attention many of these cars are not U.S. made cars, they are imports to the U.S., Hondas, Mazdas, etc. For some odd reason many people think they don't need to maintain their vehicles, that they just need to drive them and ignore when there is an obvious and serious problem. I don't understand it myself, I have a car, it is parked on a non op, not because there is anything wrong with it, but because I don't have the income currently to maintain it, so I'd rather it sit and get no wear until I get a better income.
On todays episode of "What the heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell?"
Big thanks to the shop owner notifying the police to get this ticking bomb off the roads.
Good on that service manager for calling the cops on that death trap that the customer declined to repair. I wish more shops followed suit.
Mechanics must love those repairs that start with customer states they changed some parts
"Mr. Reed, load and make ready the forwards Parts Cannons and stand by!" -- Capt. Archer, "Enterprise", The Lost Episode
Kudos for the shop calling the cops on that idiot woman.
Thats what salty service techs do when they can't over charge someone for labor.
@@rust8infiniteOh no! This woman saw through my attempts to scam her! I know what to do, I'll get her arrested!
Box truck was probably looking for a place to dump the rented truck after hitting a low bridge... so they could claim it got stolen.
the rental contracts say the insurance will not pay for hitting low clearance and the customer is responsible. It can be well over $20,000 to fix that truck.
isn't there even a YT channel for that one bridge that cuts rented trucks open on regular basis, even after it got raised a few inches?
It's a company truck JB and sons dream LLC. DOT and MC numbers on the side. Not a rental truck.

2:05 best mechanics ever, probably saved someones life
The very first one. Marine tech here, customer needed a valve job on his 350 Chevy inboard. Asked if he could remove, bring heads In, reinstall, then bring back to us for a final tune. Brought back and said it ran worse then before and asked if we misdiagnosed. First thing I did was a leak down test, #4 & #6 had no compression & leaking through valves. Removed head and customer left a red shop rag in each cylinder!
2:17 The shop calling the police about the car owner driving an unsafe vehicle is a first.
last one, contact the police right away if seeing something like that. its extremly dangerous for anyone on the road.
Yeah, but calling the cops is pretty extreme.
I agree, but he probably just hit something with it and was trying to get back home. Side streets at low speed would be a lot better.
@@theglitch99Is calling the police more extreme or less extreme than letting that truck collapse on the road, in front of or on top of someone?
I'd be scared to pass that thing, or even be within a hundred yards behind it
@@theglitch99 Why? Either the driver knows they're being unsafe and doesn't care, or knows they're being unsafe and is terrified and trying to limp the thing home, or is just oblivious. If it's A or C then they need to get their license pulled. If it's B, then the cops can do the "here lemme help clear you a safe path with my lights" thing.
At the very least, if an extremely unsafe thing is happening on the roads for *any* reason, cops need to know about it.
