FACING MY FEARS.. THE LONGEST ROAD TUNNEL IN THE WORLD! (Van Life Norway)
This week Lou faces her ridiculous fear of tunnels, as we drive under the longest road tunnel in the world!! In fact we end up going on a bit of a Norwegian history tour of it's road system, with a fascinating hike across Vindhellavegan visiting a well kept ancient road!
Norway has some of the best hikes in the world, and although this one isn't as famous as perhaps Trolltunga or Pulpit rock, it's definitely interesting!
Join us as we road trip across Norway in this vlog where we are driving and seeing what we find along the way.
If you've ever wanted to know how easy it is to wild camp and find motorhome services in Norway then this video covers all of that!

Hopefully you are enjoying this European travel series as much as we are and we are managing to show you just some of the stunning landscapes that France has to offer in this French travel vlog.
As usual, we have tried to include a bit of everything, some cinematic scenery mixed with our usual female van life foolery, we always love hearing what you lot think in the comments so do let us know, and as always, thank you for watching!
Follow us on our journey as we attempt to create a proper youtube travel series as we, two female travelers and vanlifers, attempt to travel across Europe in our rolling tiny home.

I don't think non vloggers understand how much it disrupts your day having to plant the camera, walk away from it, walk past it, go back an pick it up, catch up to where you were and repeat and then to do that on a bloody steep hill. I'm far too lazy, but that's why your vlogs are so good. Well done Lou.
😀😀
Your cinematography and drone shots are absolutely amazing. But what really makes your videos so special is the two of you. You make me happy, you make me laugh, you make me feel as if I'm right there with you. You guys are just too cool ,keep doing what you're doing.
😀😀😀
Another great video
I've just discovered your channel and have been binging for the last 2 weeks. I make myself stop after 6 episodes a night! anyhow, I totally sympathize with Lou when it comes to tunnels. i tend to hyperventilate! But I also sympathize with Emily and her snack cupboard.... you tend to get the shakes when it gets too low. Loving your banter and the fact that you are so down to earth. If you ever come to Northern Ontario, Canada you will always have a place to stay here on our farm. AJ and our Molly could run the fields!
The wood on the stave churches is actually bog wood almost petrified, some thousands of years old, the peat in Norway is black so the colour of the wood turns black over time it’s the hardest wood around, and was used in or way to build from circa 2000 + years ago. Norway looks incredible and you two are cracking me up as usual, 😂 Thank you so much for sharing your VanLife with us Old Owl 🦉 Alaya UK.
Actually, it is just pine wood with a high content of resin (the trees were partially debarked some years before being felled, allowing the wood to saturate with sap/resin). After building with this wood, they painted it with burnt wood tar over and over, thus building up a thick, protective layer of brown/black, hardened tar. The stave churches are still being maintained the same way, using wood tar made the same way as back then.
I am going to send this to my brother who is a retired Electrical Engineer, who worked most of his working life on those tunnels.
Yes you've done it again! I'm sure the gorgeous landscape helps but this was really nicely produced. What I love about you two is that it feels like I could just be hanging with you two in the van while you talk. I like it as much as those narrations of other vloggers, as with you I feel like I'm really following you along, not just watching.
Anyway I totally felt that church comment lol. My girlfriend used to be an evangelical Christian and her whole family hates me for seducing her off the straight and narrow which is funny considering she put the moves on me, but alright. Considering my career is based on helping women stand on their own two feet after their religion (Islam, Christianity or Judaism, doesn't matter what flavor) told them they can only be a stay at home wife with no education or self-sufficiency they might be onto something, whoops!
Oh wow what a wonderful and amazing job you have 😀😀 I expect not at times but what a great thing to do being able to help so many
GO - Shasha, Girl!!! Thank you for your work! (myself, I am a longtime atheist)
Thanks for another great video you guys made this 70 year old woman living in maine feel like I was riding right with you and I love the tree that were on the house
I protest! Not boring at all! I found this video absolutely fascinating. The tunnel, the church, the road/hike, the shopping, the tree house!! Plus your usual lovely patter. Thanks for taking me along. See you next time.
Completely agree. Their banter always makes me laugh 😂
And so interesting to see. Great editing and filming.
I’m sure that Em needs more snacks, she’s done well. And Lou can have some snacks too.
Aw thanks both of you 😀
Congrats Lou on making it through the tunnel!! That uphill hike looked a killer, my legs were aching just watching it 😮
The surface of the stave churches are covered by "tjære" (wood pine tar). It is an old viking recipe using "tyri ved" ( fatwood) that is full of sap to extract the maximum amount of tar. This is very flammable which accounts for a lot of lost churches lost to fires.
Norway 🇸🇯 is a really a very beautiful country with incredible landscapes
Amazing to find something that intimidates Lou, TBQH; she's a superhero and I don't care if people think I'm simping because, as a bloke, I'd be wasting my time LOL.
Congratulations Lou driving through that tunnel, I could tell by the look on your face you didn't enjoy that. It must be the same look Emily has when she thinks she will run out of snacks. Looking forward to your next video. Take care of each other. 😁
Definitely is 😂
It appears Louise capitulated on the snack cupboard replenishment BEFORE Emily went shopping and then objected afterward. Emily for the win. Pay up Louise.
🙌🙌🥳🥳
As a swede, I have visited Norway on many occasions. Both in my job and in private. Both in summer and winter. I can´t stress enough how beautiful Norway really are and how bad many of its roads are 🤭
I could tell Louise you were not liking the tunnel by how wide you had your eyes open! Well done all of you. X
Laerdal cuts under one of the most spectacular roads in the mountains.. called the snow road because it is only open for a few months. The 'mood' lighting is actually refuge areas..not places for selfies btw.
Thanks guys for another great show, can’t wait for the next one🤪
Poor Lou you looked genuinely worried & well done for getting up that hill! Crazily steep. Keep ‘em coming ladies were loving them.
Another fun packed episode...keep it up.
Just amazing once again, you surpass yourselves every week, I love your vlogs xx
Just amazing scenery, enjoying all the banter and fun facts. Thanks for taking us along.
Loved it, thankyou both 👍
Steve & Ang ❤
Ladies we just love watching the 2 of you and look forward to watching every week xx
Excellent fun facts, Lou facts rule! Loving the vids and Norway looks epic x
The topography is just stunning!!
Your videos are always so cheerful and uplifting. Thank you for sharing your travels with us. Looking forward to the next one.
"You don't break rules like that, Emily, the rules are there for a reason." Good one, Louise!
Three weeks is amazing!!! Congrats!
Another great video. The road was epic .
Oh wow, again ! Norway continues to look absolutely incredible and you guys are clearly having the time of lives, another fab video guys x

I enjoyed watching you walk up that little hill. 😊 What a fantastic country!
Brilliant again Lady’s thanks for sharing xx 👍
Omg I couldn't breathe just watching you through that tunnel. Well done you ❤️
Wow. Wicked.Wonderful. Have a wonderful time!
I don’t think I’d be too keen on that tunnel either so well done Lou! Another great video; that hike looked awesome!
Thank you for Air Up. Order in. Just what I needed. Love your travels thru Norway.
I love you vlogs, I have been binge watching them. Keep them coming, you are doing a great job. Great vibes.
My Mrs is exactly the same Louise, she hates doing anything wrong and its a pain in the perverbial. I call her Dudley-Do-Right.....lol.
Loving your interaction with each other and Emily pretending she doesn't take things to heart.
Norway is incredible and I'd love to travel there.
😂😂 love that nickname
What a beautiful spot.
Love it as always fantastic filming absolutely beautiful country, keep up the brilliant banter girls 😊
Stunning scenes, nice content, AJ standing to attention like the Queens guard. 👍
Yes!
Really enjoying your videos, thank you 💛 I'm going to Norway next month and you're making me very excited! 😊

Looks beautiful even in the rain x
Really interesting vlog! Loved the old church and that steep old road nearby was a really cool find. Not sure I would have made it up there, but glad you did. Amazing scenery, even when the weather isn't ideal. And the ongoing saga of the snack cupboard just cracks me up 😆. Well done, intrepid explorers, carry on! 👏
You girls just make my day! How I long to be on the road. One day....yup!
Another fantastic video girls. That road you hiked up was amazing. Also I noticed several homes with grass roofs.
Absolutely LOVING joining you both on your Norway series!!! Keep up the epic vids, fun facts & an update on Emily's knashers!!! hahaha
Louise...excellent start to the video. Nice work!
Absolutely love your videos. Amazing personalities, good fun, great content and so well filmed with wonderful storytelling.
Have some wonderful days ahead, girls. Cant wait for your next video.
Thanks Sean and you
Glad you got to see a Stave Church they are so cool.
Great blog as usual and your having fun and definitely not missing the 35 plus in UK over last two days keep having great adventures stay safe 😀
Another great vlog Louise and Emily! I love how AJ is up front taking in the scenery too ☺️ Would you ever get one of those backpacks that you pop your cat in and take Summer out for the hikes?
Emily, I reckon you won that bet! 3 weeks of not filling the snack cupboard, I can barley go three days!!!
Louise, another great filming and editing video. Honestly, one of the best channels out there. Always look forward to your vlogs, just a genuine nice couple 💜
We sometimes think about the backpack for her and now she is getting more adventurous it could be something we try 😀😀
No way bet was to empty snack cupboard before buying.. a bet is a bet...
You reckon she won the eat your ass bet im sure she did too cheers
The old Vindhella road is indeed a hidden gem, glad you found it!
Thank you for teaching me about my own country. I love hiking, but did not know about this fantastic road. I look forward to it!!
I went on Euro Star once thought the Channel Tunnel was most underwhelming, keep up the good work, look forward to your vlogs always make me smile
Loved the church, very gothic looking. Well done lou on getting through the tunnel the fear was all, over your face.
Great video as usual❤️ Be kind to Emily, she has done extremely well., you are both amazing.
Great film , you two do make me laugh and brighten my day .
Wow! The look on Louise’s face through the tunnel was so panicked I felt for her 100%! I’m not even worried about tunnels but that one seemed daunting honestly. The church Emily reviewed was so cool!! The woodwork was so unique and beautiful! The hike was awesome and usually in vlogs it’s hard to capture the incline but you truly did - what fun! Your vlogs are just top of the line and your open with the viewers along the journey which makes us feel like friends who’ve yet to meet. I’ve noticed every time I watch now I feel like I want chocolate!!! Haha (no need to pay Lou, Emily, the crappy snacks don’t even count so you did a great job!
Yeah so true it can be very hard to capture it but it was super steep indeed 😀
Well done for going through the tunnel love the church great video x
Another good one
We loved the house with trees growing on top. not quite same but reminded us of Morocco with goats up trees!
Excellent vlog again ladies. Good hike and the tunnel was (slightly) interesting 👍💙❤️
Thanks for making these videos. The quality is amazing and you always make smile 🙂
Loving this series and the banter is great. To be honest Emily has done so well 😉
Another great video with fantastic scenery, you’re so making me and hubby want to visit Norway, never realised what a beautiful country it is! Well done Lou for making it through the tunnel, you could sure see how anxious you were to get through it! Shout out to Emily too, I think you’ve done really well with the snack cupboard and I think Lou should let you off with the tenner 😊 A shout out to AJ, I love seeing him standing there between you watching where you’re going… I hope the weather improves for you, carry on with the great videos 😊😊 xx
Aw thanks Pat
You should have gone over the mountain rather than through the tunnel. It takes a lot more time, but totally worth it! Thanks for bringing us up to the hike up the Vindhellavegen. Never been there, but it's now on the todo list.
That pooch watching the scenery through the windscreen is just hilarious! 🙂
I'm loving AJ's now default position whenever you are driving! Well done on conquering your fear of the tunnel, too.
I know right
Your blogs are the best. Great editing, filming and content. You two are so much fun.
I think Emily should be happy she has a great metabolism… all those treats would make me a real rolly polly.
It’s nice to see you trusting Emily with your Fanny 👍😀
I'm with you Louise, not keen on tunnels, too much rock up there to come down !!
Facilities for campers are amazing, don't get them like that over here, only on campsites. The trip is amazing, thoroughly enjoying your videos.
Love, love, love your vids, clearly lots of work and passion go into them.
Thanks 😊
I remember going through that one and as you say its noisy and i just had to not think about it as you say its its the road signs that say how far you are in. The smaller ones we found the hardest as no lights and very narrow. I remember also going through the one between italy and france and they gave us a leaflet with all the precautions which makes it more scary.
Well done for doing it.
Tip of the day; add your favourite air up pod to your pants to counter the stuffing chuffing. You're welcome.
I really enjoy this , i dont like tunnels, yuk .
That road you hiked was so amazing, thank you for sharing.
An that church very cute.
Love your sense of humour
Looks fabulous. Absolutely love the opening clip with the rolling cloud. On the question of the tenner, I think no because it is holidays and on hols, you are allowed more treats!
I like the sound of your logic there
Great video ladies. Nice to see Lou cope (almost) with her fear of tunnels. Emily down hill is always worst on your knees. Lovely looking country.
They do take a battering
Indeed Norway is the most beautiful place in the world, Jeg elsker Norge!
Great one again girls and fabulous scenery yet again 👌😍✊💝
another great video girls love them, you always make me smile and cheer me up , Norway looks amazing thanks for the great content
Another great Vlog. Norway is so beautiful. Well done Lou for facing your fears. The one good thing of course is that if you had broken down or needed rescue from the tunnel you would not have starved - unless of course Emily wouldn’t share the snack cupboard !!! Looking forward to your next adventure 😃
I wouldn’t 😆
Bloody hell, I’m exhausted just watching you girls doing that climb!
Well done for facing your fear of tunnels. I would be exactly the same. Church at least from the outside looked really good. Scenery fantastic. Bottles looked good although bit expensive. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes
The church was nice 👌
Your cinematography and editing are superb yet again! Love your fun facts, very interesting. You actually take an interest and desire to learn about your environment unlike many other van-lifers. Xx💕🌈🌈👌🏼
Another cracking video ladies....Love the longest tunnel though lol.
Thanks for the video. Love your videos. Best Wishes Neil 🏴
Wow now that's a tunnel 😳😲 Safe Travels 💙
Well done lou you got thru the tunnel and that road was manic. Great video guys🤠😉
😀😀
very good vid and very entertaining better than tell a vision..
I’m impressed you waited this long for more snacks Emily 👏🏻
I’m getting really sad, because I couldn’t wait for you to upload your Sunday vlog. As usual this was funny, informative, and the scenery was beyond stunning. Louise I also hate tunnels we have travelled through Germany, Italy and Switzerland but I never ever get used to going in tunnels, going over the mountains is much much better. Keep up the brilliant work xx
Thanks Anne 😀😀
Leave all the fun facts to Emily
You crack me up Louise .
Can’t wait for the next one as usual. That house with the trees growing through it , I love it too great stop .
Too right 🙌🙌
Great fun gals, your videos are always over too soon, enjoy your trip!
