When it came to my older sister wanting to learn how to drive, my mom was the worst in the passenger seat. Mind you she drives completely fine when me and our second sister are with her. But our mom? Nope! Stops to the point of the car slightly going forward, gets nervous, all of it! Which is why I'm glad our mom doesn't ride along with us three often.
I'm 21 and still can't drive because my mother (who is a covert narcissist, yours sounds like one to) refuses to take me to the DMV so i can get my learners permit (or driving license, I've never had a learner's permit so i might need to get that first, different states have different laws)

Im almost 30 years old and still cant drive cuz i have noone to teach me and i dont have a car to practice on. I xant afford to go to driveing school. Im trying to save up to find someone to teach me and also to get a car. I already went and took the knowledge test and passed. Now i just need to take the road test and pass that to get my license and then i will be able to drive myself
your mom is ridiculous for asking you to show proof of a license especially whwn she's the one refusing to take you to get your license, gaslighting at it's finest
This one was all sorts of complicated. The mom was wrong in being so pessimistic. But, the daughter is clearly in the wrong for lying and cheating. And cmon...how does she not know the permit was important to have on her?! Just plain dumb right there. As for the E Brake, that's on mom for nit telling her. But, how didn't they notice the car rolling away?? It's not on a hill, either. It wouldn't have rolled back on a flat surface. I never put the E Brake on when on a flat surface. Common sense is lacking here.
I can relate to learning to drive a stick part as the very first vehicles I learned driving in were sticks. The funny part is my time driving a stick came in handy when doing a locomotive engineer's camp to smoothly work two motorcars with hydraulic drives.
