In my opinion XSR900 is just in a class of it’s own to be honest.
Beautiful style, beautiful engine, plenty of power, just enough electronics for the city and an occasional ride out .
A real head turner for sure...
    I had lots of people
Asking what kind of a bike it is, from young to old, it’s just doesn’t fit fully in a naked segment or cafe racer segment it’s kind of in between , but never the less very good looking bike.

I can see more trim levels on the XSR in the future which would likely come with similar things as the Abarth- namely a seat cowl and a headlight fairing to compete more with the Kawasaki z900rs Cafe.

Have to ride these bikes to see if they fit. I did my research and the xsr900 was on my short list, but the tank shape did not suit me - my legs would not tuck under the bulges on the tank - and it felt under suspended. Just did not fit and handle in a way that get well. First ride on the bike I ended up getting - s1000r - and it fitted and get right, for me. For someone a different shape and different riding style might find the xsr or mt perfect.

It's nearly bike season and since my luck at winning bikes sucks... I've been riding every bike I've ever been interested in, in order to find the bike that screams at me to buy it. Haven't ridden an XSR900 yet, but I have ridden the MT-09. It scared the shit out of me. it scared me once because it wasn't my bike and I'm a short Rider, so I was afraid of dropping a bike I didn't own at a stop if the road wasn't perfectly flat. It scared me again every time I wasn't overly cautious with my throttle hand. that bike just wants to light your hair on fire, throw that front wheel up and "Ghost Rider" down the road. I must say in that class of bikes I did find a favorite though. And that was the ,also tall for a short Rider, Suzuki GSX-s750. That bike was amazingly intuitive and quite tame at anything below 5,000 RPMs. Once you broke the 5000 RPM mark it wanted to scream down the road just like the MT-09. Both bikes were really really fun to ride, but I was on adrenaline overload with the yamaha. the Suzuki was nice and calm and tame and comfortable.... a true joy to ride. And then when the road opened up, I was able to hammer that throttle and listen to that in line for scream as I rocketed down the road.
The MT-09 is a crazy and fun bike, but I can't seem to relax enough to enjoy myself on it when I'm constantly micro-managing the throttle.

I absolutely love my XSR900 but it has two huge negatives both involving the seat. It’s too stiff and no depth to it so you feel like your on top rather than in the bike which doesn’t inspire confidence at 100+
And I completely disagree with him. The XSR makes you want to ride hard, pull that throttle and feel that torque all over. All I want to do it carve up the streets as fast as possible. And it will wheelie all day if you want.

I hope I do win the MT-09. But whoever does is getting a fun, fun machine. I currently ride a GSX-S750, and while it's fun, I think the MT-09 would be more fun. Ain't nothing like twisting back on the throttle hard and feeling that front end come up, to say nothing of clutching the front end up, in a closed lot where you have permission to do such things of course.
