    Have you ever wondered whether a zinc deficiency could cause anxiety? Or whether zinc supplementation was a good treatment for anxiety, depression or other mental health symptoms?
    In this video Dr Janelle Sinclair will discuss the relationship between zinc and anxiety, as well as zinc and depression. She will talk about zinc deficiency signs and symptoms, zinc's effect on mental health, zinc testing, and zinc dosage as well as common side-effects and interactions with other mediations. Zinc is one of the most powerful minerals for anxiety and is an effective mineral for depression too. Zinc has many health benefits.
    Dr Janelle Sinclair is a biochemist and natural medicine practitioner who focuses on natural treatment of anxiety and depression. She offers advice on natural anti anxiety supplements and natural anxiety help. There are lots of different vitamins and minerals for mental health. Dr Janelle discusses which ones are most effective, and signs and symptoms that your body gives you that show which ones you may benefit from most.
    Zinc deficiency isn't the only physical cause for anxiety and depression. There are many other nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances and problems with the digestive tract, which can impact mental health. Your body often gives physical signs that you have these imbalances.
    Dr Janelle has created a checklist which lists 29 signs and symptoms that your body gives you that reveals that you may have biochemical cause for your depression and anxiety.

      I just done a taste test with 7ml of metagenics zinc drink, (thinking that was 5-10mg) scored a 2. It wasn't immediately unpleasant but after a few seconds became so. The after taste was sweet though. But checking the label that was actually 50mg of zinc sulphate or 11.3mg equilivant of elemental zinc. per ml. So 7ml was quite a big dose.

      Taking zinc alongside other nutrients is absolutely fine and very normal. You'll just have to check the elemental zinc dosage in the supplement. Most supplements that include zinc have only 15mg per dose, unless it is a specialty product. It's a high probability that the zinc/magnesium/calcium product you have only has a small amount of zinc in it. Refer to the video for recommended zinc dosages.

I'm doing my best with fiber and healthier foods but binge eating has been a struggle.

      Dr Janelle Sinclair Yes I have! Last month when I got my period, I was back to 85% normal but only for a week and the depression and anxiety hit again 😢
      The rest of the month I suffer with all the symptoms. If I eat poorly.... my PCOS will get triggered and my period will not come and I will suffer longer until I get a period... anyways... I bought bio identical progesterone (wild yam) and rubbed it in where it was more highly absorbed. I only did it for 3 days desperately hoping for some sort of relief. I only found myself more aggressive and agitated and suicidal so I stopped using it.
      I wonder if a hormonal test levels the day of my period could be an answer for me. I’ve been struggling for 5 plus years and It’s taking years of my life.
      I wonder if SIBO, or gut bacteria has an affect on hormones and not flushing out the bad estrogens? Possibly the liver isn’t working properly?

      @DrJanelleSinclair  Před 5 lety

      Hi Omraz. I suggest that you strengthen your stomach acid levels to help you absorb the zinc better. Also pyroluria is another reason for not being able to build up zinc levels. Zinc picolinate is a great form of zinc. It is good to monitor copper levels if you are on zinc long-term. Rather than supplementing it I prefer to recommend copper testing once a year to ensure that they aren't low (and only taking copper if you need it). A lot of people that have zinc deficiency, actually have high copper, so copper supplementation or high copper foods can make them feel worse.

I have been much more energetic, with improved mood, but I've also added other things, so could be the combo. I've found great success from Dr. Carolyn Dean's products. I've taken her liquid mag for a couple years, on and off. I do think it's superior to other types of mag. I started taking her RNA ReBob at the same time as the zinc (a couple weeks ago) and I'm wondering if THAT is the reason for my brain and body boost. I've been doing research on the main ingredient (barley extract phosphorous) and this is something that's been used for hundreds of years to clear muck from ponds and waterways. Makes sense, then, that it would clear the muck from us, as our bodies are very much like aquariums. Just a thought. It's very expensive, though, so I'm researching how to make it myself. It looks like it's lactobacillus-fermented barley, but I don't know if it's the straw or the grain. I'm on an adventure. 😊 I hope you find your answer. 🌸
