@gonewildcamping7012 That was the original plan Paul, but as well as passing the path that led down to the spot (without realising), it looked a bit cold on that day down there, like it had been in the shade all day, plus Bri needed a signal to phone his missus, so we decided to press on to the top.👍
Looks like a good old hike! Great to see you and Steve on a Wild Camp again! Good decision me thinks to keep well away from the river, as the temperature would have been a couple of degrees cooler! Quality video and production! Now I have to wait for Steve to get his out as well. Double joy!
I must confess my heart sank when Steve originally planned to camp down in the valley. I was anxious about not being able to be contactable. It turned out so much better than I could have imagined in the end! Thanks for commenting Steve, all the best. Bri

I did Brian 😊. Bit of an odd one tbf🙄. Had planned to camp at 3 shires head but got a offer of a drop off and pick up nxt day by a work mate. So at last minute I came up with the idea of camping above the ruins of Errwood Hall over the Goyt valley. Ended up pitched on't grouse Moor away from tree line not far from the halls graveyard.. weirdly one of the most relaxing solo camps ever. Thinking the grub made all the difference 😊😆🙏. Best wishes to you and your family full tummies all round and best wishes for the next year too. Keep em vids coming matey😊
It’s lovely area Brian and a lot to discover around there. Now I know where that spot is from your shots and I did look for somewhere to pitch below the rocks but it was too lumpy bumpy as it was windy so ended up pitching down in the valley. ATB to you Brian and merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks Dave, yes I wondered about the area below the rocks, but as you said it's too uneven. Although it was windy I was delighted with where we pitched, there's a lot to explore in this area and I camt wait for the next camp. Atb. Bri.
Absolutely fantastic hike and camp Bri! You are both so intrepid. It all looked so beautiful, especially on the first day, but obviously jolly cold. Ice on the inside of your tent, cripes!!!! Hi guys, thanks for your excellent comment and I sincerely wish both of you a very happy new year too! This is the first camp where I have experienced such low temperatures, but thankfully investing in the right clothing and sleeping apparatus kept me cosy all night. I must admit I love the challenge of contending with nature, the rewards far outweigh the struggles.
Lovely spot 👍🏻 is it abbey moor or abney moor? I've been looking on my map and can only find abney moor lol. On the subject of tents, a semi geodesic is a tent with between 2 and 4 nodes (cross over points of poles that fully extend to the ground) and a fully geodesic is a tent with 5 or more nodes. The more nodes, the more stable the tent (but at the cost of being heavier) I hope you find that info interesting 😂 great video as always, keep em coming 👍🏻...edit....I found abbey brook/moor on the map lol.
Thanks! I appreciate the tent info, it's good to be clear on these things, that way I can maintain the facade that I actually know something on the subject! I had never heard of Abbey Brook either, I was impressed by the area though, there is so much of the Peak District that I haven't seen yet.
