Remember Build Doesnt Include HARD DRIVE COST
Probably my first and last tech video LOL -> twitch.tv/kyriosyuudai
Hey, as long as ya can write it all off.. or better yet, get jonsbo to pay for it.. they do make a lot of really interesting oddball products that mostly all work well. got their goofy rgb nvme heat synchs on my extra drives on a pci-e card, they look great, keeps it cool... good stuff.
does it support Sata hdd drives? kinda bought a bunch before checking
YES YES, THANKS MY KING, IAM ASKING THIS LAST TIME YOU LIVE TOF,
THANKS FOR MAKING CONTENT ABOUT THIS
Np! :)
if you want to share media files to your TV or install applications eg. Plex and other applications you can get from Qnap or synology will that be possible ?
For my build i went more for a small home server build with a 3700x 64 gigs of Kingston ECC and i added a PCI Mvme card to add a few NVMe deives for VMs
Awesome video man!
Few questions:
- I'm wondering How's the M.2 Sata Expander treating you? the last time i tried a pcie to sata adapter, truenas was giving me so much trouble. Does it give you any problem?
- I'm planning to build an all-ssd nas for on-site editing. If you dont need the storage, do you think you'll choose Asustor Flashstor 6 instead? with the drop in ssd pricing, im tempted to just build an all nvme.
would love to hear you thought.
cheers!
m.2 sata expander still working perfectly.
i'd need to do research on a pure SSD editing drive but i dont think that would really speed up your editing. As you are bandwidth limited and not hard drive read speed limited
Hi, may i know if that backplate got damaged either from shipping or from my own fault, can we just take it out and use regular cable?
How much is the power consumption on idle and normal workload?
So what was the problem that make your "half hour" build into a little more longer situation? how did you fix it?
motherboard version
Does the 4650g supports ecc memory?. Because in the AMD website it doesn't mention it and some people say it doesn't. Were you able to verify that?
If its a 4650g PRO then it supports ECC. All ryzen APU's that are PRO version support ECC. I am using a 4350G Pro in my nas with Nemix DDR4 3200mhz ECC I bought from newegg. Works perfectly.
Question: If I wanted to connect this multi-bay enclosure to an existing PC/laptop, and just use it as a DAS, would the only thing I'd have to buy be the hard drives and power supply?
i dont think you can use this as a das, DAS usually require some sort of interface to transfer it over USB
I use Synology NAS equipment - initially configured as a NAS with 1 Gbe ethernet
Later I fitted a 10 or 2.5 Gbe network card in the Synology - changed the IP addres and used it as a DAS.
Lastly fitted a 10 Gbe network card in the PC (Win10 Pro) with data transfer now around 400 Mega Bytes with 5 hard drives and single drive parity.
The data is backed up every night and the computer than automatically shuts down.
Realise if your video editing session is only partially complete you may not want to close all the files . . .
then daily backups would become less attractive . . .
does it support Sata hdd drives? kinda bought a bunch before checking, how did you connect them
case is sata drives
Great video, just what I'm looking for to back up all my data. Now about the parts you used:
* You forgot to put a link to your power supply
* You made a mistake of pasting the same link in the NVME link
Thank you and keep it up.
Whats the purpose of people having a sata ssd and an m.2 ssd in there servers ?
Have you had any issues with it?
I'm looking into building something similar but have been going down the TrueNas forum rabbit hole.
I was reading that there's issues with AMD MOBO that have Realtek using TrueNas.
I'm thinking of building one using
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
MOBO: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard
^ Getting a good deal on this combo. $200 new
If you are using TrueNAS core then I HIGHLY recommend you use a intel NIC. If you are using TrueNAS scale, which is based on debian Linux, then a realtek NIC would probably work fine, but Intel NIC's are the gold standard and should always be used unless you have absolutely no other choice. I built almost the exact same system as this video, and my motherboard came with a realtek nic. I just disabled it in the bios and slotted in a 2.5gb Intel I226-V in the PCI-E X16 slot. It works like a champ.
kyrios tech tips
Lol maybe one day
Hi Kyrios, may i know what is your mouse type??
I use the roccat burst air pro. You can use code KYRIOS on their website for 10 percent off
@@KyriosYuudai Aight, thank you Kyrios, appreciate ur fast respon 🙏
has l2arc helped at all - as in have you measured it?
i havent explicitly tested it but i can say that its hitting the L2ARC all the time for the full storage amount. Where i've seen the value of it is when opening a folder with a ton of video files that all the thumbnails load instantly after first load or until system reboot. Its hitting alot when editing as well so i feel like im getting value from this
@@KyriosYuudai how have you been checking that? just out of curiosity
Whats the power consumption on this system?
pulling around 45 watts most times as its 99 percent idle
If you have an itx mobo with a not that big VRM cooler, you also can remove the wifi card and add a m2 A+E key to E key adaptor for an additional NVM, no need for that kind of "special mobo. If you dont need the pcie slot, you can also use a adaptor for this, there are low profile ones wich can hold up to 4 nvme ssds (bifurcation supoort on the mobo is necessary).
pci slot is needed if you want to add a 10gig nic card which i wanted the option to get it. but good suggestion!
ayo it's finally done?
Aye
its possible to add rtx a2000 on this case ?
not a ton of clearance for a graphics card but maybe a thin one
@@KyriosYuudai thank you
gaud daym 80TB
GOD DAMN lol
1:35 "Looking at the front of the case, which I know you guys can see.." Umm no. You are wrong.
That's the front of the case at that timestamp...
