Efren Bata Reyes v Shane Van Boening ᴴᴰ 2017 Derby City Classic | 9 ball Pool Match - Sport
For me they are the two best players in the world, I admire their humility ...
@Munsters Kim humility doesnt have to do with being socially strong, its a virtue
@Munsters Kim You are a punk and have no room to talk.
@Munsters Kim it doesn't take hearing n teeth to be great at billiards ya douche
@Munsters Kim kepala bana kao!
Yes the two best snd skylar is right behind them in 3rd
My 2 favorite players ever. Huge SVB fan but Effren will always be my favorite. The chess game in rack 11 was spectacular, a true testament to how skilled they both are.
Yea Sir, me too. I have a hard time connecting with most of todays pros.. gone are the Mike Siegal’s Earl Strickland’s, Minnesota Fats, and Steve Mizeracks, That were great entertainers as much as they were great pool players. . Making the crowd apart of the game and still shooting lights out. Efren wasn’t a talker, but he had a silent charisma about him, and the occasional smile and dance.
That said, I really like SVB. What a talent that guy is, and like Efren, he is quiet, but has a silent charisma as well. Not to mention the best break in pool history in my opinion
Damn this is 2017!!!???? Efren is still such a legend.
THIS IS 2021 LOL
ITS BEEN A WHILE
@@mohamedbekk9143 2022 my guy little more of a while now ahaha
Loosing a game is so hard on anyone but loosing to Efren Reyes isn't cuz you're not going to loose anything if you played against him instead you're going to get to know everything about pool he's a real legend undoubtedly the goat
mohamed kamal true words
This deserves a thumbs up even before watching the whole thing!!!
pagoda
I'm an older guy and one of the many things I appreciate about Efren is he removes age an excuse for bad play. Great win for him. He's still got it. Sweet.
Still fan will always bring that excuse to the table
That synchronization that Efren and the dude at the top-left of the screen have at 52:09 when hitting the 6-ball 0_o
Very observant !
MAESTRO!!
and that Player is Dennis.
David Chacon illuminate confirmed
that player is Dennis Orcollo, also a filipino
12:56 , damn good shot
i think a lot of people under valued that shot, i rewatched that shot several times when i first saw it
@@demographics1107 I think he just played it with a lot of topspin.
plays it so effortlesly
@@sladjanivkovic2 Yeah he did. It's a combination of top spin and speed. They call it force follow. It's just a very clever way to play for position.
Efren is a master of using spin on his shots
"sounds of the pool room" great to listen to while going to sleep
Matt Mason I do that every once in a while and it makes me think of the scene in the Big Lebowski where the Dude is listening to a bowling tournament with headphones on. LOL.
So true.
I wonder if I did listen to this every night I'd shoot better?
Can't agree more.
Hahahaha! Got that right, i like sounds of balls hit each other!! Lols
There is no way I would be able to play in that room knowing there is a living legend playing a few feet away from me
They do the qualification
The magician can still get Win at his age. You are a legend!
what do u mean at his age , its pool not basketball or tennis
aljurius juganas theres a guy locally that i play with hes got to be almost 70 and he is probably the best player in my county.
pool still requires great eye sight, amazing coordination. the ability to get the body to do what the brain wants. that is very comparable to basketball and tennis, so get off your high horse you fake ronald mcdonald.
Pool is no where near as physically demanding as basketball/tennis or any real sport you inbred fuck
Billy Gibson mike sigel said during the king of the hill tournament that in his opinion pool is the hardest game there is.
Efren still got it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you genipool14 for your uploads ... all of them
Waited so long for this match between two of my favorite players. 😭😭
When people stop to watch and the lights turn on Mr. Reyes just shines. Such a showman and a true champ.
Bata Reyes made 3 balls with kick shots in this match, amazing, nobody is so consistent in kicking balls with that precision.
1:01:43 is one of the most impressive, insane kick shots I've ever seen. Efren is truly amazing.
very difficult shot
It may be the best shot I've ever seen.
@@mustwatchthis50 More like very impossible. But I guess professionals are used to this kind of thing.
@@ugaugauga488 Amazing hit, but He was very fortunate that ball went in but as Efren says... "I get lucky"
yeah, but you make your own luck, and Efren can do that better than anyone in the game. Goddamned brilliant.......
I love watching both of these players play against each other. As both have excellent talent in there shooting styles. Praises to both players. 🎱
What a match!!! Efren's still got it! Your channel is the reference when it comes to good pool on YT. Thank you for your excellent work.
My two favorite players. Also big fan of Alex. Earl as well. Efron's cue ball control here... still simply amazing. Loving this match.
I've got the utmost respect for Efren; he is an AMAZING player and for what I've heard a remarkable human being.
Yes, he is a very humble guy.
made roosters duel in his backyard tho
@@fabunch4o759 😆
You're really the greatest, Sir Efren. Thank you for your humility and silent lessons. You're my favorite in the world!
0:25 Best handshake ever.
Miller2theMax lmaoo those pre match hand shakes make me awkward for them! There should be a universal pre match hand shake. Just a straight hand professional shake like the one efren went for. Instead of the clasp hand shake that shane was going for. Both r fine but i feel like the straight hand shake is just the most common

Miller2theMax Lmao! I had to go back and watch it. Too funny! They’re both like, “handshakes are stupid”!!
I had been looking the match between these two the whole days, finally I got it here..
Andi Liem
thank you genipool for all the great uploads...
His kick shots and 3 rail cue placements is what separates him from the pros... unreal
The Man, The Myth, The Legend The Magician Efren "Bata" Reyes !!!!!!
These two are as good as it gets... 😎
Thanks!
I love these quiet matches without commentators talking about pool in a way pool league players can understand.
I think US commentators are just really bad. Thry are always yammering on about every shot. I prefer the silence too.
Greatest all around pool player ever lived! Even at 62, he can still manage to beat with today's top pros!
Like pool, and much safer than rodeo,(my sport of choice back when) really enjoy watching videos that he is doing his stuff. The escape in life is attitude, and he wears that well.would love to meet this great guy.peace and patience to the sport!!
Efren is a beast , in his 60's and still awesome. GOAT
great match, Efren got every roll though too, it rocked Shane's confidence. love watching these guys play!
47:03 That snooker escape from Reyes, absolute class 👌
It's quite easy to leave your opponent with no shot or pot the 3 ball from 2 rails and that speed.
@@tesha199 let's see you do ittt
Shot of the match: 1:01:37
Still the magician
the only shot that could be considered lucky for Reyes, would be a break shot in rotation where every ball went in in order on the break
The magician!
when people post and finish same why do they add gay at the end
Yes, indeed!
I feel like I should have to pay to watch Efren play. Just pure mastery.
Efren has played hell lot of games throughout his career and that is way he's still the best player for the youngsters..👌👌
1:01:43 is one of the most incredible shots I've ever seen, if not the one. I wouldn't think that it's humanly possible to make such a shot. And to make it in competition, against someone as formidable as Van Boening is extra special, because if you give Van Boening anything chances are you'll lose the match. Efren truly deserves the nickname "the magician." To me he's the GOAT. Perhaps Van Boening is beginning to show a little bit of age here, compared to his younger years.
Actually, SVB has the greatest respect for Efren, the man...and his game!
I wonder how his mind works Efren. Genius!
but to be able to run the table after that hence, the shot he made at 1;16;54 thats when you take the air out of your oppositions wings,, and they crumble''
If they were playing call pocket, he would have lost his turn.
I can't imagine being somebody in the background, just casually playing pool next to Shane Van Boening and Efren Reyes. My game would end real quick and I would be right next to that table soaking in every second like a sponge.
Brooooooo you ain’t lying. No possible fuckin way I’m playin pool period. Hell I’m watching them allllllllllllll night long. Period.
Indeed. He doesn’t know what he missed.
Ikr. They have the life time to play pool, why not stopping for a second and watching a legendary match.
This is SVB playing pool on extreme difficulty mode
In his 60s and still taking the young players to school....
You got that right. I thought, OK, Shane is the top American player, at least HE should give Reyes a run for it. They need to start giving Efren a handicap.
Andrew_Owens Efren is the handicapped 🤣🤣
Lol

Me too man. Efren is the greatest.but we gotta give Shane props
EFREN is THE BEST POOL PLAYER TO EVER PLAY THE GAME....EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE WATCHED THE MAGICIAN PLAY...PURE BEAUTY AND ART BESPOKE.
1:01:39... The Old Efren keeps rocking...
47:25 was far and away the best shot of the match. safes aren't as exciting as pots, but this was brilliant. This is straight out of 3 cushion billiards. legend!
i think he was aiming to pot the 3 on the other side. kinda what he did on 1:01:39.
Cueball touched rail 6 times actually to stop where it stopped
@@arpeemac Probably. . But Efren is as lucky as he is amazing. Even the pool Gods respect him. 😉
i hope he writes a book. So that his wisdom about the game can be learned by other people
You can't learn what he has. He's a generational talent.
Yeah because pool is such a difficult and almost impossible game to learn and play
@@blacktrump9041 - Pocket Billiards is just like Chess: Easy to learn, enduring to master.
one of his interviews he said i’ll show the world my tricks after i retierd . cuz he started his career as a gambler and he still wanna hide his secrets .
I don’t think he can transfer his knowledge to a book he made statement he just knows
Best commentary EVER!!! So nice to sit and just watch without having to listen to somebody's take on the game!
Earl Strickland commentating this would be nice
POOL GOD EFREN. there will never be another.... the legend.... (luckily theres a ton of videos of your talent in youtube) hope you can play for another 40 years! Godspeed...
Wow, very surprised Shane would give so much respect on the first game allowing Efren to pocket the one ball so easily from a push out. Must of thought Efren, at his age would miss it. He thought wrong
I've never seen a match between these two players so far!
What a pleasure to watch him play. He really knows his game
althought SVB lost, i still applaud for his effort to level at 5-5 from a 4-0 deficit.
I have been watching a whole lot of Efren videos & even had the honor of seeing him play in person..from what i think, after the break he does not plan ahead for the next 3 balls but planned a mental layout for all the balls..his brain seem to work similar to a GPS..true legend
finally! Shane vs the great magician!!

Well deserving of a rematch.
Imagine a prime Reyes playing Shane. Shane wouldn't get a single rack.
At 20:07....one of the best shots ever....and the crowd erupts in cheers!
Lol he was trying to kick safe not make the ball jabroney.
both ways broo .. i usually do the same

happy to still see him around in a good shape!
Game 11 was amazing. 👏🏼
Pleasure to watch two great pool players...Efren is truly a magician...pool is known by his name only
Clash of the Titans. Magician vs SDK. Love it.
Shane: "just glad to be here"
Hey I bet he learned a few things! They're both my favorite players :)
Two of my all time favorite players... the legend and the future legend 🤟🏻🎱
I remember when Efren Reyes could run 7 to 8 racks of break and runs on you and have you just sitting there watching thats how good the guy was.
Shane: I'm the best in 9 Ball right now. Efren : Hold my beer...
XD
Efren : I'm the best in 9 ball ever...and 8 ball... and 10 ball... and I have a nickname, sit down kid lol honestly though now the efren is retired svb is my new favorite. He's just so smooth. No crazy flashy shots, just perfect que placement
1:00:54 - 1:01:48 SVB's reaction to that incredible leave tells you everything you need to know about Efren's game.... and so does the shot lol
Dude that was incredible
*The Legend Live On!*
nice shooting you guys. you make it look easy.
Efren one of the best ever at kick shots.
*The best
KALABANTESH yes the best lol
Not one of the best HE IS THE BEST!!!
Efren is the GOAT
He is the GOAT and also the best at kick shots
Watching Dennis & Bustamante @ the corner rooting for Efren. I'll see them tomorrow @ Family Billiards SF for Cole Dickson Memorial tournament 2017 & Shane Van Boening, rest of the pro's @ California Billiards for 10 Ball Pro Event.
39:46 the way his left hand lift up his cue to avoid it colliding with the cue ball is very smooth
i never seen shane van boening got schooled so bad....
There is no shame there. Efren is the GOAT.
best in the world from another planet the magician
Efren is the GOAT ! It's amazing he can still play at this level and beat players like Shane!
thanks for the video @genipool14 new subbies here
that deserves a standing ovation only efren can pull a kickshot like that.
Efren's shot on the one ball @ 44:33 ..... WOW !
12:57 another signature shot by efren reyes!
Shane performance's is not good in this match. Still, two great players. Really enjoy watching them. Thanks for upload!
20:00 that whas just too mutch! =D Efren never disapoints!
I was staying a few nights in Ermita. Next to my hotel was One Side Billiards. I went up there for a few drinks and I saw Efren Reyes playing this white guy, who I later learned is possibly the greatest American pool player ever. It was a game I never heard of, one pocket. I did talk to Shane later that night, nice guy. And I got Efren to shake my hand.
He beat Shane at this age imagine when he was younger!
Best game ever!
My two favorite players... 😎
the disrespect when the genipool14 logo appears before he executes the final shot 😂😂
Look at that stroke at 12:40 to play for position to the 4. Amazing.
jezreel terre I agree that was a great stroke
perhaps he doesn't play because of people like you?
jezreel terre yes it looks like an easy shot but if you observe the arrow that ball does, it is really very difficult.
it takes a nice stroke to do that shot
i do. the reason why i know how to appreciate shots like that. it's a stroke you do during practice, only a handful dare do it in an actual match, you try it an it's not guaranteed you'll get repaid. but perhaps you're a pro who thinks that tough shot is merely routine so....
Excellent performance::: Efren Reyes!!!
he still got it!! he won the best pool player for modern days!
two of the greatest players ever
Melon He4ad
I have never seen anyone that can control a cue ball like Efren and Shane.
It would be a dream come true just to play either one of them.
first shot in this game O_o just magic, what a shot !
Omg that kick at 102; was amaz...
I didn't watch the whole match yet but the best shot I have seen is the 2nd shot of the match by Efren back cutting the 1 ball. Many people don't know how difficult that is. I practice that shot occasionally and can make it about 2 for 10 but I have never made it from that far from the pocket. Also there is masse involved and at that distance the calculations and experience necessary are phenomenal. Also I don't think Shane thought he would attempt it. Bet SB never did it again.
That shot isn't that tuff...you just play bad
LOL well Shane either didn't expect Efren to shoot it or he didn't expect him to make it and I am just a Fargo 450 you are probably better than Shane or Efren. I always keep an open mind when conversing with a master
@@markhamblin8195
Wow, Efren will always very be the greatest one in the field 😍
20:02 ,1:01:42 still doing his magic
We love to imagine a contest between champions of a different generation. For example, Mike Tyson vs Mohammed Ali, both in their prime. Or Efren Reyes vs Willie Mosconi. I think right here we're seeing two champions of different generations compete, though Efren isn't squarely in his prime he is shooting very close to it at an old age. I think Shane is a generational champion of champions, and he will beat Efren in the future should they meet. But Efren's legacy is so solid. And his superior tactics, knowledge and ease at the table puts him at least one level above Shane, IMO.
TallBob1962 he's way above Shane.
TallBob1962 Efren is the Michael Jordan of billiards
TallBob1962 in boxing pound 4 pound
Michael Jordon wished
Comparing Efren to Shane is like comparing Jordan to Irving, Muhammad Ali to Canelo. Don't get me wrong, Shane is good but not Reyes good. Shane hasn't even done a tenth of what Reyes has done in the sport.(been a fan of the sport for over 3 decades)
Nobody controls the cueball like Effren Reyes.
Efren and Shane, the old and young guns in pool. Shane has the technical talent of Earl Strickland and the humility of Efren Reyes.
it's taking Efren a while to get those racks good. I know how he feels though. I always have trouble getting racks tight
