But I would highly recommend a book called "Talent is Overrated" by Geoff Colwin. In it He details the EXTRAORDINARY amounts of practice that the so-called geniuses put in to hone their craft. Among others he details the behind the scenes of Tiger Woods and Mozart. When you see Tommy Emmanuel you are just seeing the tip of an enormous iceberg.
True..they have their own genius & its in music..its trully a God given gift...i play guitar myself & now that 51 these musicians made me realized im a dull boy musically & my grade is a D....time to call it quits!

He reminds me of a chef that’s really quick a cutting onions and can carve melons into interesting shapes; unfortunately he takes some classic recipes and then adds to many other ingredients of his own into it thinking he’s making it more interesting but fails. He fails because he doesn’t understand what the original was about. Basically too clever for his own good and I have seen perform at quite a few guitar festivals; the first time I thought that’s clever but after that shine quickly wore off. His compositions are similarly fixed in that bracket ‘look how clever I can play’ but just like the best drum solos in the world it can only take you so far.

Best guitarist conversations tend to favour rock guitarists like Hendrix, slash, Clapton etc, but tommy Emmanuel is absolutely the best guitarist that was, is, and will more than likely ever be.
I met Tommy outside Windsor Castle last October. I was too old fashioned to get a selfie with him but we shook hands and had a chat. I introduced him to my granddaughter as one of the worlds best guitarist's. Tommy said : ' Your granddad is dillusional '. Modest as ever but I don't think I was far wrong.

Holy Geez!! I started playing guitar in '68, and turned 68 three weeks ago, and this the man I want playing at my Lottery win party, and I'll pay him anything he desires!!! Insanely amazing instrumentalist!!!

But as the ultimate road warrior, you just know he's itching to get back out on the road. He's simply the total artistic and technical package, playing with such joy, enthusiasm, and showmanship!

I was there in the outback believe me , crazy as it sounds. It remains in my top five live favourite performances ever.
Yay. I was 20' away from Tommy at a folk festival in Colorado just 2 weeks ago. He was as good as I could hope for. I hadn't heard this Beatles montagè blend into Classical Gas before. Loved it!

OMG Utrecht is amazing, got to stay there a couple of times on business trips and spent hours cycling around the old village - love it! See the clockwork museum! I cannot imagine how great it would be to see TE there.

I once practiced 12 hrs in a day. Next day not so much. Must be why I only have 100th of that skill.
