    I have a heart condition, so I upgraded my press to an air pump version. I suggest, the way you sound when doing this, that you do the same, and if you have already, use it. We can’t be too careful these days.

    It will be a good tool once it's fixed, sleeving the center does appear to be the best option, for sure.

    I have a 22J version on that chuck. Came with a junked B&S No 6 plain screw machine. Cleaned up the chuck and got it working. The lathe will take a while.

      Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my gf for the last couple of days :)

    Looking good Chuck. I need to reset the notifications settings for your channel as I almost missed these videos. That would be a shame.

    Chuck one of the best compliments I can pay you is that I delayed my bed time so I could watch this. I was all ready to call it quits for the night when you posted this one. Can't wait till you post part 2. Love that 10 EE. Which Clausing do you have ? I have the 5913. I would love to have the rest of the collet chuck. (The Hardinge Super precision Tool Room Lathe. LOL ) We had 2 of them in our Toolroom at GM. Thanks for sharing with us.

    You should try This Old Tony's tap trick for threading large bores. I'm surprised there aren't pre-threaded inserts that you can press into the correct sized bore like they have for square holes.

    Nicely done! Question. Was the Loctite necessary? With a 2 thousand press fit, would not the the interference be enough??? Just wondering . Thanks for sharing.

    • @outsidescrewball
      @outsidescrewball  Před 3 lety +1

      Yves...not something I do often, so I figured adding the loctite couldn't hurt, but probably not needed on a .002 press fit

    I enjoy your videos, but every time I saw you drag the cutting tip when you extracted it from the work, I felt my Grandfather hit me with a knockout bar for marking the freshly turned surface. Bad memories from a distant past.

    • @melgross
      @melgross Před 3 lety +1

      It’s ok until you get a few thou from the final cut.

    • @outsidescrewball
      @outsidescrewball  Před 3 lety

      Richard, the dragging was from depth of cut and tool pressure, as I got close to my final size, I would as the tool made a pass I would reset my DRO to 0, back away then out, reset the tool to 0, then measure the bore....also, I didn't check the insert but assumed it was not primo, but would cut...thanks for viewing and commenting
