    So I've done a bunch of testing on Gigantoraptor already, don't read if you don't want to be spoiled.
    If the parent gets too far from the nest the baby can no longer be tamed/imprinted, but if you bring it back, for example with a Rhynio, you can continue the taming.
    They mostly spawn in the bottom right of the map.
    Creatures bonded to Gigantos have 10% damage resistance while within 100 meters.
    The alloparenting buff is a 2% increase in damage and a 1% increase in xp gains for the gigantoraptor per stack, up to 25 times. 5 stacks are obtained from bonding with a baby (killing the creatures with a red marker) and one stack is obtained each time a bonded creature gets a kill. This means if you take a Gigantoraptor into a boss fight, as long as all of the babies are bonded to it they will have 10% damage resist and, as long as minions are continuously killed, the Giganto maintains a 50% damage increase. At 15 stacks the buff also gives the Giganto 10% increased movement speed.
    The feather plucked from a Giganto is determined by its base stats. The highest base stat of the creature is the type that the feather will be (oxygen, melee, etc) and the percentage chance is calculated like so: 55 + (roughly .1342 * the base stat) up to a cap of 75. So if a Giganto's highest stat is melee at 50, the feather from it would be 55 + (.1342 * 50) = 55 + 6.71 = 61.71, so a 61.71% chance to take the higher melee stat of the parents.
    The feathers do not increase base stats. Placing a feather in the inventory of one of two breeding creatures will cause it to be consumed at the point of egg laying/beginning gestation for mammals and do exactly as the feather says; increase the chance for the higher stat being taken for that egg/baby.
    Hope this helped!

    Try doing it like this?
    - make a makeshift building/trap and lure the parent into box, and give it egg for distraction/start process
    - put a protective wall around the nest, not spikes so it doesn't hurt baby
    - sit in the nest and tame?
    My questions:
    (I don't own ASA and probably can't anytime soon)
    1. Is it similar to the rhynio, where you can get multiple tames from one dino?
    2. Does having the parent "trapped" make the Tame process stop?
    3. Do u need to leave the nest for the baby to come back?
    4. Does the parent need to be distracted for the baby to walk up?

  • @thomasdevlin5825
    @thomasdevlin5825 Před 3 měsíci +5

    Adding content as official mods is an interesting idea, I'm assuming this is never actually being added to the island and this is just a placeholder, but I wonder how this is going to work once it gets officially added to the intended map? Would it be safe to uninstall it once the gigantoraptor is added to the base game? Will they be deleting it once the gigantoraptor starts spawning on ragnarok? That also adds another interesting benefit, if this is a straight up mod, it should be easier to do than adding something into the base game, mods could theoretically act as sort of an early access for new features, allowing them to add new content before it is actually done
    I do think this is a good move, if there are delays in the future hopefully they will add content like this so we don't have to wait for it

    • @MrKurlyAttemptsGames
      @MrKurlyAttemptsGames Před 3 měsíci

      The idea of adding it as a mod first is to bypass the cert process in order to fix bugs faster. That's a good strategy but what keeps getting overlooked is those poor console players. Unlike us on PC, console has a 10gig mod limit. That isn't really a ton of space to work with especially if they are playing on an unofficial crossplay server. Those servers are having to pick and choose the mods they add carefully. They are already getting close to hitting that limit if they haven't already. We are only at the start of what will once again be a massive list of available mods. Would be nice if the console manufacturers could figure out how to expand or eliminate those limits.

  • @gabrielp1306
    @gabrielp1306 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Y'know, this is actually peak content testing when you think about it. Before you release a creature officially, release it as a mod and ask the community what they think about it, before implementing it officially and possibly breaking things. When the community give their response, make necessary changes and release, it's genius.

    We tamed a 145 last night easily. This was a super easy tame after we figured out the earlier tricks were patched. We first tried to cage the mom in using dinosaur gates but that just made the baby stop wanting to play. After that my son just sat in the nest while I removed the dino gates. We were both wearing full ghilli He stayed seated in the nest the entire time. I would put out a carcha egg and the mom would come over and eat it. While she was eating the egg he managed to get several feedings in and then the mom would return back to the baby and the area of the nest. It never attacked my son and I would just put another carcha egg out and he just kept repeatedly playing with the baby whenever it came up to him. The final tame came out at 214 out of a max possible 217 so it worked very successfully. Watching this video it appears that you were attacked just sitting there so maybe it glitched something when we first caged the mom in with behemoth gates or maybe it was that I kept throwing out a new egg every time the mom started walking back to the baby nest resulting in it not getting so close to the nest.

    If you do get name suggestions syntac, I think you you should do either Edger (because he likes eggs), Giga Chicken ( To fit with Terror Chicken and Tickle Chicken), Brok the Babysitter, or Kiwi Bird as a name for a giganatraptor
    Also syntac, the parent raptor has to be alive for the taming to work, so trapping the parent is your best bet you actually don’t need to feed it an egg if you trap the parent. Also syntac can actually think of this as a better galli

  • @The2004STi
    @The2004STi Před 3 měsíci +2

    I don't think that the type of egg counts towards the percentage gained but it may take longer for it to eat.
    I was using fertilized carch eggs and it was eating one for a long time.
    5x tame and a 150 gigantoraptor was 14.6% per dance, probably COULD have squeezed two dances in, but I messed up so many times I just booked it after each feed.
    I used a quetzal and parked it above, threw eggs as far as I could from the air and grappled down to the ground, danced, grappled back above on the quetzal.
    How many eggs you throw doesn't matter, as there is a cooldown on the feeding, so I did one at a time, but multiple should be fine too because it'll go back
    Although, your 120 tame only got 8% with an argy egg, I don't remember your taming rates but that actually could mean quality of the egg equates to higher tame percentage.
    Also it has a terror bird type glide if you press jump in the air.

      I feel like there is a definite pacing issue with the engrams, like you get magmasaur saddle at what late 80s? Mid 90s or something, and by that point you definitely don’t need the smelting feature (granted that’s probably only so it can spit fireballs whenever you need it to) its mobility sucks unlike the drake which you unlock that saddle even earlier, and while it is a great metal gatherer an argy and an anky can produce similar results with just a little more time plus it’s far more inconspicuous than a giant glowing lizard. For a far earlier example, the turtle saddle requires cementing paste which you unlock a level or two later, they let you unlock something without even having the ability to craft a ingredient for the saddle 😑

      @@wfisher4034 I 100% agree, a trait of egg steal tames that I think might be overlooked sometimes is that once you finally get one that same creature pretty much always allows you to get more eggs far easier. The drake is probably the peak of this since with it you can effectively just jump directly into the drake trench instead of having to take this long route around the rad zone. Wyverns are just as fast a wild ones and a tamed wyvern is gonna be immune to 1/3 of the wilds breath attacks. Deino, while not great against wild deino, are still exceptional at fighting directly and running away from wild ones after stealing an egg, definitely better than say a raptor with its far lesser jumping ability. Meanwhile the magma just doesn’t have this trait, and it’s clear the devs wanted it to be able to do this with its immunity to the eruption, but a tamed one just doesn’t have the mobility to be effective as a egg stealer and it isn’t immune to wild magma fireballs so it just gets absolutely shredded by % damage, it’s both safer and easier to just stick to a bloodstalker for magma stealing, hell even a ferox is better

      Only real use I had for magmasaur was moving to a new map. It’s gather rates carry and smelting were useful to jump start a base. Then I’d drop it for an argy with anky. Think the only map I ever kept one on was AB but I can’t even remember if I did.

    Makes sense the nest is the same colour as the GR, birds often use their own feathers to line their nests. I hope that's an intended feature, thats pretty cool

    found mine on the river banks by the green ob. figured out taming last night. Put on some good armor, and have momma chase you, trap her with metal billboards, and it makes taming baby wayyyyyyy easier :) I think you have to leave parent alive to tame, haven't tested that part myself. I have a level 15 and a 125 both female, was just looking for first one i could find to tame.

    Take 6 metal billboards, large bear trap. Set up a trap using them and the bear trap. You have to set it up somewhat close to the nest. Within probably 8 found lengths. Lure the parent into the trap, onto the bear trap. When it gets caught in the bear trap, place the last metal billboard down to lock it in. THEN you hide in the nest, and perform the button prompt. The baby will hop once, right before the animation you must copy. Don't leave the nest after each time. Stay in there. The baby will usually walk back towards the parent after each time you succeed or fail the button prompt. If the parent is too far away, it will not give you the option.
    Using eggs doesn't really work like you want it to. Trap the parent nearby, instead.

    • @KenpachiX420
      @KenpachiX420 Před 3 měsíci

      Do not lure the parent far away from the nest, else the taming process won't occur.

    I heard that trapping the parent makes it easier to tame the babies without getting attack by the parents. I also think that maybe the bigger the egg the better chances that you can apply more imprint on the baby.
