Cedric was literally EVERYTHING. he was smart, brave, cute, very attractive, loyal, kind, friendly, strong, humble... They had to kill him, unless everyone would prefer him over every other character at the end.. Just think about how many people got so connected to him after only one book, or only two minutes of screen time, he's one of my personal favorite characters in the whole series so..

Poor Cedric...he wanted Harry to take the cup for saving him before Harry insisted they do it together, he actually seemed really impressed when the cup turned out to be a portkey, & and was legit worried when Harry's scar started hurting him.😔

I appreciate the way they made Cedric show more compassion for Harry here. Because ever since Harry became champion, people have been treating him like crap and believing the BS that Rita Skeeter wrote on him. Harry's life was a total nightmare, and while in the book, Cedric didn't really believe Harry about him not putting his name in the Goblet, once Harry helped give him the clue to the first task, he sees that maybe Harry is probably being a bit honest, because why would any competitor give help to their other competitor? He probably realized then that Harry didn't deserve all this crap that he's been getting.
