I do like knowing that in theory a yard of concrete is 3X3X3= 27 cubic feet.
For many homeowner projects that translates to a 4 inch slab of 81 square feet. If you want to be really cheap and use the 3-1/2 width of a 2X4, you'll get pretty close to 100 sq ft per yard.
When estimating, don't bother subtracting for where posts are, but do add for thickened edges and radiuses where joining a pre-existing slab.
You'll always run short a little because you are measuring the depth to the top of a non flat surface of rocks or gravel and because of a certain amount left on the truck that's a little more if you don't have the patience to scrape the chute thoroughly. And for most common mixes the tail end of the truck is a little more rocks that you don't want at what's likely the highest visibility part of the pour.
So add a half a yard to be safe and for complicated shapes and when there are steps add a full yard. It's annoying to pay for more concrete than you need but way more annoying to come out short.

We go to town for corn at a True Value store for corn to feed the deer and turkeys. One has to step up on the concrete to enter the store. If it has rained or has snow on it, it's very slick. First time I noticed they should have broomed it but they put a mirror finish instead. I'm surprised nobody has fallen down. I guess they weren't thinking. Also the color of the concrete a darker color and looks slick

One of the biggest things I've learned on here is to contractually keep final landscaping off of my list of duties within the contract. That just saved me a good bit if money. Thank you thank you thank you. I just never thought about it and never had a problem with it before.

I just had to look at work i parked 17th and Arch Philadelphia. Some dude with a full grown beard wearing a dress and high heels was giving me a cute look and I looked at him and said where's the rest of you? Then he tripped over a sidewalk crack I said buddy you okay? I said come on that's not the first crack you tripped over. He thought it was the funniest thing ever. I'm still emotionally trying to get a grasp on the situation

Curious why you add the blocks on outside of posts instead of nailing the form directly onto the post? What is the advantage of this? Thanks
That allow the concrete to go an inch and a half past the post but not around it
