    Your comment about 55 pounds of thrust being enough is spot on! I use mine exclusively for low speed maneuvering while fishing in a 16’ boat. I use #3 power setting or less 95% of the time. On the rare occasion that there is too much wind for how I use a trolling motor, I fire up the outboard and then use the Minn Kota like a bow thruster to keep from getting blown off course. Thanks for the video!

    Good review... one thing to say! Tie that puppy down! Them remotes don't float and if you don't want to spend $300 to replace it, use the lanyard or D ring that comes with it to secure it to you or the boat!

    Thanks for the review. I’m out here in the N.W corner of Washington, setting up a “new to me boat” for next springs fishing. I have always used a transome mounted trolling motor, switching to a bow mounted Minn Kota 54 lb thrust for the exact same reasons you stated. I have been researching I pilot versus Co-pilot both options are from Minn Kota.

    Why does every powerdrive video on youtube have the trolling motor already deployed when starting the video? The 1 question I had was does this motor deploy hands free? Can I just launch it, pull my trailer out of the water and hit spot lock or do I have to manually deploy this model?

    • @wkyblue-collaroutdoors2152
      @wkyblue-collaroutdoors2152  Před 3 lety

      You have a good point, our motor was already deployed. This was not done on purpose, but you bring up a good point-they are not easy to get in the water. This model does not deploy hands free. We launch the boat, then put the trolling motor in the water at a shallow depth; send it out; spot lock; park the truck, then come back and bring the boat to you. Not as easy without the auto deploy. Thanks for the comment and q’s.

      @@wkyblue-collaroutdoors2152 thanks for the reply. I’ve been doing some research and figured that out, most the new trolling motors look very similar so its hard to distinguish which ones deploy hands free. Looks like just the super high end one like the Ultrex. Do you know any auto deploy models/brands that are more budget friendly? I’ve looked at motorguide but it’s basically the same price and if I’m spending that much im going with minn kota.

    • @wkyblue-collaroutdoors2152
      @wkyblue-collaroutdoors2152  Před 3 lety

      @@proambass8027 your research is spot on with ours. Sadly, only the high end models provide the hands free deployment. Also, like you said, both MinnKota and Motorguide are pricy. Good luck and let us know what you buy. Thanks again.
