  • At Cairo International Airport, only one hotel is attached to Terminal 3--the Le Meridien Cairo Airport. This 5-star hotel is the perfect spot for travelers arriving late at night, since it is a quick walk across the skybridge, and a short shuttle ride from the other terminals.
    But is it a good hotel choice for everyone?

    We stayed at this hotel in August 2020 on the night before we travelled. So convenient. As for possible noise from wedding parties you will find that at every hotel. In 2019 I was at Mena House and a DJ had the volume up to 11 and not pleasant when trying to sleep.

      You’re right-lots of hotels have this setup in Egypt, although some are worse than others. The Kempinski in Garden City is a great option in Cairo that’s more quiet, for example.

      I haven't done a video on Mena House, but I definitely will at some point! I usually prefer to stay closer to downtown, but I'm sure I will be staying out there at some point. It is a beautiful place! Having breakfast with the pyramids in the background is so cool.

      My pleasure! I have stayed at the Hilton Alexandria Corniche, but I am not a fan of the hotel because it's location is so far from everything I enjoy doing in Alexandria. I highly recommend the Steigenberger Cecil instead. If you are interested in learning more about what I love in Alexandria, you can set up a consultation appointment or talk about making a customized itinerary--shoot me an email at gus@egyptadventurestravel.com if you'd like!

    Hi Gus! I have a 10 hour layover at Cairo airport departing from T3. Do I have to buy the $25 visa to access this hotel from the skybridge?? Thinking of spending a few hours at the Lattitude coffee shop.

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes, you’ll need to exit through passport control/customs in order to do anything at the airport (aside from the airside restaurants/lounges) so you would need to buy a visa.
      My suggestion instead? Either have a coffee at an airside coffeeshop in T3, or go to a lounge to enquire about purchasing a lounge day pass.

    Hi Gus, considering this property for a quick 2 day stay coupled with an early morning flight out. Is this a good base from which to see the Pyramids/Islamic Cairo areas? Do tours pick up from here and/or do they charge extra?

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Před rokem

      I would not recommend staying here if you are going to those areas because they are very far (over 1.5 hour drive in traffic). I would instead recommend staying in the downtown area or close to the Giza Pyramids.
      However, considering your early morning flight, maybe it is a good idea to stay at the airport...it just depends--do you want a lot of driving when you are in Egypt, or would you rather stay closer to the sights (and in a more lively area) and then have a super early wakeup call for the flight?
      Tours will pick up at this hotel, yes. It would not cost much extra.
      If you have additional questions, feel free to email me and we can set up a consultation: gus@egyptadventurestravel.com

    I was looking at the city map and it seems like there's a metro stop not too far from this property. Would the metro be a good way to commute into and out of the city?

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Před rokem +1

      Not at all--I do not even think you can leave the secure airport area (this hotel is inside the airport complex, attached to Terminal 3) on foot. You will need to use a driver, taxi, or Uber if you stayed at this hotel.

      You will need to check with the specific hotel to ask. You might need to pay for an extra night since you would be checking in so early.

    For a 5 star hotel, this looks like a 3 or 4 star hotel. The room in your video was pretty much basic.

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Před rokem

      5-star hotels in Egypt can definitely vary. You can usually use price and reviews to determine if a hotel is what we would consider a 5-star hotel to be in the USA. That being said, I definitely recommend this hotel for those needing to be close to the airport-I and all my guests had a great stay.
