    Thank you to About.London on TikTok who kindly allowed me to use their videos of the band performing on the Buckingham Palace forecourt during the ceremony. Unfortunately I was unable to get close enough to film this but wanted to feature the fantastic sounds of both ensembles as their statics were fantastic!!
    This special guard change was the second of two ‘Blue on Blue’ guard mounts where the RAF provided both the old and new guards and both bands, celebrating the centenary of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.

    Absolutely an outstanding performance by the RAF. I am proud to have served fourteen years with them.

    Can't say it often enough, Britain is lucky to have, across all three services, the finest military musicians in the world. Superb musical ambassadors for our country. Thanks so much for posting this video.

    Wow!! That's just spiffing! The RAF certainly knows how to put on a show for us! Drill and Music wise, they sound excellent both on the March and during the Static Pieces at Buckingham Palace. I can't say I've enjoyed Statics a much as have today! Well done! It was fantastic to hear 'Saeculum' once again! Many Thanks to MBE and About London for the Static Pieces!

      They aren't bad, stiff competition in the military band world, their is The Band of his Majesty's Royal Marines who set the standard, quality of musicianship in all 3 services is excellent 👏

    A lot of people don't realise that most of these musicians are graduates from the Royal College & Royal Academy of Music (and other colleges). Some of them also play as professional musicians in other bands such as Grimethorpe & Black Dyke Brass Bands. One of the Trumpeters was previously Principal Trumpet with the BBC Symphony Orchestra & City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, that is how good they are.

    Very well done the RAF! The simultaneous halt by the band and guards at St James's was the icing on the cake.

    I like how they need 4 people to play music made for one drumkit. Their music selection was definitely interesting for a marching band.

    Alte Kameraden (Old Comrades) is a German march that doesn't get played nearly enough these days. Aces High is one of those pieces of movie music that works really well in a parade setting.

    Always love British military bands, but I have to ask why the bass drum is so loud in soft passages

    • @johnn8223
      @johnn8223 Před 2 měsíci +7

      The bass drum is there to set the pace for the entire company. The music is incidental to that.
