  • The Royal Swedish Army Band, Armens Musikkar supporting the Changing of the Guard in Stockholm on Tuesday 15th August 2023.
    At the Armeemuseum parade square:
00:00 Livgardets Marsch (March on of the new guard)
    01:30 Bohus Kompani
05:01 Livgarets Marsch (Inspection of the new guard)
The parade through Stockholm to the Royal Palace:
    06:16 Livgardets Marsch
    09:58 Jonasmarsch
    12:34 Bohus Kompani
    13:45 Nordsalut
    16:11 Tre Krona
    20:06 Under Blagul Fana
The concert in the palace courtyard:
    20:27 Hins Kall
    22:38 La Morisque
24:25 Tattoo - 2023 Eurovision Winning Song by Sweden
    27:23 Traumsalut
29:27 For Sverige I Tiden (For Sweden In Time)*
32:46 Bugle Call for old and new guards to run onto parade
34:30 Svea Livgardes Deflingsmarsch (march off)
*New march composition in 2023 by Erik Berndalen to mark The Golden Jubilee of the Swedish Royal Family that was to be celebrated in September 2023.
The band was led on parade by their Drum Major David Lindberg and our under their direction of their Chief Per Iko.
The parade forms up on the square at the Armeemuseum at 11:30 and then after a small concert and inspection the parade departs to the Royal Palace through the streets of Stockholm at around 11:45. These times are delayed by an hour on Sundays and are different for when the daily parade is mounted and includes horses.
Personal note: I would like to apologise for the wind noise during moments of this video. Even though the temperature was a warm 24 degrees celsius the areas around the water were particularly blustery!
I would like to recommend a tip for anyone who has followed the band through the city and wishes to watch the ceremony in the courtyard. Once the band has passed and entered, walk through the palace gift shop entrance (small door at the back of the courtyard) that is to the right of where the parade passes and you can step through another door into the courtyard without battling the crowds that have built up at the main opening way which the sentries march through and has to be kept open (can be seen at 20:08).
This is the final video in my Swedish series where I have filmed the Home Guard Band from Gavleborg, The Mounted Band of the Royal Swedish Cavalry in their new temporary riding helmets and the Royal Swedish Army Band, I hope you have enjoyed these videos!

"Happy" marches as I would describe them and well-balanced sound overall. The weather looks wonderful. I bet the people are friendly and proud. Lovely!

@douglasperkins Have seen one video on the Welsh band. But then they stood still and played. So searched for more videos and saw videos of your royal band.
Interesting to see different stills and ways. most differences was about him who leads the band 😀 😃 sorry don't know the word in English 😞.

Still around! Think my band boss was amongst the 🎺🎺🎺. Nice to see it all. A small band but all professionals with degrees on the instruments. The drum major is cool, doing loads of signs with the maze such as widening and narrowing the band where is difficult to pass with five double spaced in a row...thanks for filming! And the march Tre Kronor ( Hockey teams Nick name and the emblem on top of the city hall).

Yes, at 13:12 he realizes that there are buses blocking (since they enter a bus street) and narrows the band down mid turn.

Another Splendid video Sir!! The march off march at 34:30 is "Svea Livgardes defileringsmarsch", a march I'm quite a fan of!

The first march was featured in the 1954 film Desiree starring Marlon Brando as Napoleon Bonaparte and Jean Simmons as Desiree Clarry his first love who eventually became Queen of Sweden.

Why have the drummers and drum Major got different uniforms?

    • @jcupjohansson
      @jcupjohansson Před 9 měsíci +7

It’s today called ”drummers’ chevrons”, originally worn on the older uniform from 1845 and earlier. It used to showcase the drummers and buglers on the battlefield. White braid for private drummers, silver for SNCO/WO’s. It was introduced to this uniform (from 1886) in around 2009. The uniforms of the band are originally the former 2nd (Göta) Foot Guards and has red details. The King’s Guard wear the uniform of the 1st (Svea) Foot Guards with yellow details.

10:05 Where can I find this entire march? Does it have another name perhaps?

    • @MilitaryBandsEverywhere
      @MilitaryBandsEverywhere  Před 2 měsíci +2

It is a relatively new March and is only under the name displayed in the description. I believe this is the longest recording of this March available online. Gutted I was unable to capture all of it as it really is great!
