@@JoeSnow84 in the end, I have never seen a bad Carlin bit. Some more out there than others, but in the end they all come down to truth. On the religion none, I can honestly respect him for how he thinks, the man studied what he talked about. He didn't go into something blind, never did, he truly studied it and formed and informed opinion. One way or the other, or in the middle, I expect someone to know what they are talking about, and George always did that part. Even if I don't agree with it, I can honestly say I can see his point and understand why he thinks that way, because he actually studied what he is talking about. His thought processs was screw what this persorn says, what that person says, lets look deep into what both say, and the answer may be a combination of both, or may be in fact netither. He had to put the comedic spin on things to get people to listen, if it wasn't for that they would have thrown him overboard in the 70s.

Helpful hint though and sort of a cheat sheet..... Every vote for various bills is public record. Just gotta know where to look. My advice to my fellow Americans would be that if you want to know how the politician you vited for (if they were elected) is really representing you just look at how they vote on various bills, and what their voting record over similar bills and provisions of legislation over the time they have been in office. We get the government we deserve.

I quit watching any U.S. 24hr news a about 4yrs ago, it's all such a shit show.
There's so many great independent news sources out there, but even a lot of them are going to be a little bias, that's human nature, but like you said, if people would take the time to look at more sources, watch/read about both sides, no matter how bias any of the sources are, eventually you'll be able to see the cream rise and the bullshit sink,. I go anywhere from 3-4 to week long deep dives, depending how passionate I am about the issue or politician, and I always try to find a couple sources that are totally opposite/against my feelings on that issue. I always want to make sure that maybe I didn't miss some nuance or detail that makes me re-think the whole thing, or even if I don't, I think it at least gives someone a better understanding, dare I say, empathy towards people on the other side, that we're often, now a days, so quick to judge or just hate them, and I have been totally guilty of that, so not calling anyone out.

And they're not like our Green party, or Libertarian party that have as much power as a high school debate team, actual parties that have a legit chance at winning the election.
I think it's Sweden or Finland, can't remember, they have 7 parties, but here's the best part, they are only allowed, by law, to campaign the 6mos prior to the election, and each candidate can only spend 50k on that campaign, and it is strictly monitored. George might have been crude in the first part, but the second part had so much truth that it is like consecutive punches in the gut that is already tired from laughing. This man can bring moments of clear truth into his act so well, it doesn't really stop being funny, but also enlightens people. The professor of comedy, the preacher.

George was the conscience of the USA, he was brutal but honest and he always held up a mirror to society and confronted people with the truth about things we dont want to see or hear.
Thing is, with George the rules are different, if you feel offended by him... chances are you've been confronted with a truth that hit too close to home for you.
The man was a genius who was able to step back and look at the bigger picture and pinpoint the real issues in a manner of seconds.
If anything, George hated political correctness for the sake of being politically correct, he understood that you cannot be PC all the time because the PC culture often doesnt fix the problems, it only hides them and sometimes even makes it worse.
Basically, if someone did get offended about what George said, then George had proven the point he was trying to make right there and then.
Take this bit for instance, is he wrong? no.. he isnt... the USA is one big shopping mall, and there is a pandemic of obesity, and not your regular obesity... no.. we've all seen those 10-ton people who are bigger than your average pickup truck, and when you're that big... its not your glands causing it, its the 12 happy meals you eat before breakfast (and after, and inbetween breakfast, lunch and dinner) and those 4 whole fried chickens these people snack on in the evening.
No i'm not here to offend anyone, i am just saying George wasnt wrong, most of these problems he addresses are self-inflicted and can be changed if people actually wanted to.
But thats where the real issue lies, and George knew that people rather be ignorant so they can pass blame onto others... and George simply wasnt having any of that.
Like i said.. George held up a mirror to society, was brutally honest and by doing what he did, he did become that conscience of the USA. (someone had to do it and he was the best at that)

The best "work" I have EVER seen were the 4 times I saw George Carlin practicing for his yearly HBO specials.
He always came out with a pile of notes and explained that he "gears up" only for the Live HBO specials he did each year. That is the only reason he "hit the road".
Hence, George appearing at small theaters like The Hershey theater in Hershey Pa where I saw him 3 out of those 4 times.
He even said some of the material we were about too hear would not make it onto his next special. He was "testing" too see what worked, and what didn't.
Very interesting, AND VERY FUNNY, watching him in that format.
He talked about how he gets his material.
Waking up and reading 4 newspapers and looking at online news each and every day, 6 hours worth of reading.
Then writing down potential material on index cards.
His daughter, Kelly, later confirmed, after his death, that her dad indeed had an entire room filled with filing cabinets mostly filled with those index cards.
The man was well rehearsed and totally prepared when he did his annual HBO "Live" Specials.
This is why you rarely hear him stumble on his words or lose his train of thought.
He was a master at his craft.
    He is quite simply,
    The G.O.A.T.
