This 1999 Chevy Camaro has been transformed by its Heidts Suspension

  • Heidts Suspension, based in Lake Zurich, Illinois, builds every suspension and steering bit you need if you drive any sort of hot rod or muscle car, be it old or a bit less old. To prove that point, the Heidts crew built an autocross weapon using a 1999 Chevy Camaro as the starting point... and it kicks a fair bit of ass.
No, this one doesn't have the original LS1 under the hood anymore. There's now a 525-horsepower LSX coupled to a T56 manual gearbox. That's not the major story here though, even if it is truly awesome.
It's the suspension work that's gone and made this a proper track machine. Out back, the Heidt's Pro-G IRS suspension pairs with front and rear sway bars, Ridetech adjustable shocks, and upgraded upper and lower control arms.
Oh, and the tires are 315s at all four corners.

Stalls the car then says the interior is stock while staring at aftermarket steering wheel, seats, rollcage and 5 point harnesses....
Then proceededs to talk about how horrible the cars are stock while admitting he never actually drove one before.... Why am I listening to this guy again???
If the owner decides to make his own video hit me up in the comments... I’d rather watch it

I like it how all these youtubers love to hate on 4th gen Camaro when they have never even rode in one. Funny thing is that at the end they all love the car.

I would think there was IRS should have been done for these cars along time ago. Far more owners in this segment wanted IRS then let’s say the Resto mod guys.

There are some videos of irocs and ws6s running laps complete heidts front and rear setups. I havent driven any first hand, but i hear good things. Not quite as good as the Art Morrison setups but good things nonetheless

Driving audio is from the shot facing me. The out-the-window angle was a separate shot. Hence the "ghost shift"

The ride you get from an F Body Camaro is better than Mustang from the go , Adding suspension upgrades only makes it better .
I had My straight line car in a 68 Charger with 460 Hp that would turn out 12 second 1/4 mile times , But the driving experience
from a Camaro on country back roads is way more satisfying . I have been looking for tips to get more Hp from the series II 3800
Buick motor that wont break the Bank and have me changing everything from the stock set up . Adding to a base 210 Hp for a car
that only weighs 3350lbs and corners like a dancer .

The guy driving this car is a clown. Stalls it, talks shit on factory f bodys not knowing what it has for a motor while maintaining that hes never driven one.
In 1999 (20 years ago might I add) these cars were pretty stout. But tell me more how much you hate the interior.

Did the exhaust really have to be under the rear end. The Heidst IRS is already expensive as it is and we aren't even talking about labor yet. Now we have to relocate the cat back too?

  • @chadm528
    @chadm528 Před 5 lety +3

Not hating by any means, but how can a gear head logically disdain a vehicle when he/she has never actually driven one? Yea we can all hear negatives about almost every vehicle out there, or even see poor design with our own eyes. But at at the end of the day a car can't be judged until its driven, and i mean actually driven, by the one doing the judging.

Bc they're cant create their own opinions and they go with what every one else say. It is this type of misinformation that end up hurting sport cars.
