i saw one of those newsreel blooper vids where the reporters were trying to keep a straight face while a woman in exercise attire was demonstrating the shakeweight; it looked sketchy, and the double entendres they kept saying didn't help

Flex tape is the best. We used it to cover a couple holes in the roof of our hay barn (courtesy of some tree branches)
I used it on a kayak that started to leak! It held for at least a year and a half before I sold it. It might still be holding!

All the flex seal products I've used are 100% effective. The tape especially, just make sure whatever your sticking it to is what you want it to be stuck to. It's NOT coming off once it's on there.
Just head to your local hardware store and get gorilla tape. Same thing LOL

The absolute best thing about infomercials is how incredibly helpless and outrageous the "normal" people are when attempting to do something that one doesn't actually struggle with, but they can't do it without the miraculous infomercial product...for example:
**staring into the sun with no sunglasses, flailing about, squinting, exclaiming they're in pain**
"if only there was an object I could put over my eyes that would deflect the sun!! 😭😖"
**insert polarizing lens master 10,000 sun deflector**
"Oh wow!!! Thank you polarizing 10,000 sun deflector!! I don't know how I would've gone on without you!!! 😍😍"

Well, informercial 'normies' all seem to live in a monochrome world that's constantly at an angle and sliding around, so it's understandable that they haven't mastered door knobs or paint brushes yet
I remember reading somewhere that many "as seen on TV" products are actually very useful to people with all kinds of disabilities. Like, the Sock Slider is great for people with chronic back pain and those recovering from surgery, and the Snuggie's apparently great for people in wheelchairs. I could even see the Slap Chop being pretty useful for amputees.
But the problem is that the makers of these products want to market them to a general audience, and so that's why we end up with these ridiculous-looking commercials where people are always dealing with problems they really shouldn't be having lol.
the funniest one was the hose.. the person just couldnt figure out how a hose worked
@@andresgc770 Exactly. For people with limited mobility or flexibility, these are great. But that isn't a large enough market to advertise to without it being dismissed by the general public. By selling it to a general market, something that is very useful to a disabled person gets enough sales that the price can be affordable.
This was a lot of dumb random fun - branching out from food and drink is definitely a winner! Feel free to spice things up with more variety episodes. These folks are entertaining doing about anything

I was on Submarines for 10 years. We used flex tape to repair pipes. It worked great. 🤣However, you cant just slap on as advertised.

How do we know that was the same boat in the water that the guy sawed in half? He could have put tape on a second boat that was still in one piece.
I had the Pocket Fisherman. It worked well for small fish. It didn't fit in my pocket though.

My dad actually uses flex tape to seal over plumbing before he has a chance to do a proper fix. It's worked pretty well considering (not sponsored by Flex Tape lol)
There is a plastic piece you're missing on the slap chop that prevents the stuff from getting stuck in the blades. Colin put that piece in the black food holder at 2:13.
And it’s called a SLAP chop for a reason
Or you know, the fact that they used it on a plate. Try chpping anything on a plate using a regular knife and the results won't be good either.

Notice the flex tape not ONLY mended the boat, it somehow also made the propeller appear when you flash to the clip of it on the water.

I’ve used every one of these except Flex Shot to repair things that I’ve mainly broken through… Clumsiness😂 they really do work. Maybe not on Solo cups, but on other things
Sham-WOW. I think the infomercial is done by the same guy that does the slap chop. And anything from Ronco (spray-on hair, “set it and forget it” rotisserie oven, etc. ) I love this vein!

Flex tape and flex spray really works I bought it from Canadian Tire store. Highly recommend
Don't forget Flex Seal. I used it to fasten the soles back on two pair of New Balance Airs where the bottom thin layer of the soles were separating from the upper. A year later, they're still stuck together. That worked.
I used to buy Nike Airs, but the last couple pairs squeaked after about 6 months. The New Balance Airs never have.

I used Flex Spray to patch up around some roof vents.
I used to go up there very year with tar.
I put FS up there and haven't had to re-seal in 3 years.

I’ve been using a slap chop for over ten years, love that thing.
👍 Looked like it would actually work. That is, if the user has 2 brain cells to use it on top of a *chopping* board. 😂
Finally worked out why I'm terrible at cooking, dont have a slap chop.
I have the Zozirushi version. Chops nuts, garlic, and parsley without the mess. Cleans up with a rinse and goes in the dishwasher. I've had it for 15 years, and my kids used to love to use it to help in the kitchen.
Far more amusing than I expected. In my top 10 Try episodes.
Dunno how true this is, but I've heard from multiple sources that a lot of these "as seen on TV" products were originally developed for people with legitimate mobility issues, and then just really badly marketed because there was no budget to get them to the people who'd find them useful.
Also, Ciara and Clare are just the epitome of effing hilarious in this one. Good job.
I've always found that products "as seen on TV" would have been grand if the build quality was better - but they're universally so cheaply made they never work.

This was one of the funniest THE Try Channel episodes! Friends and I would make fun of the SHAKE WEIGHT when it first can out. We completely bash the commercial and ask guy friends if the thought it would be helpful for them! 🤣🤣Y'all testing it had me in tears with laughter! I’ve used flex tape to patch rain gutters (three + years holding up so far, and in one emergency (bought based sorely off of the ads😂) a small hole in a canoe, two days in on a five day trip. It worked! I bought a few rolls years ago when it was cheap and have them in my emergency kits. Flex tape has since gone up in price, at least in Alaska.

The Flex Tape and Flex Seal products actually work really well when applied properly, I use them here and there for things and I'm not disappointed. One of the few "as seen on tv" products that has merit and has made some very impressive profits (and is sold in our hardware stores here in the 'states).
The Slap-Chop and Shamwow pitch guy is quite the internet legend now lol, guy got into some trouble over the years including heavy cocaine use and getting in a fight with a crossdressing hooker, he took it all in stride and has some of the best/ mos hilarious self-aware memes in his more recent infomercials LMAO.

The Slap Chop is an updated version of a gadget readily available in the 60's. Updated but much worse. My Mom's was wider and shorter and made short work of veggies. She used it for cole slaw mostly. Was still using it in the 2010's before she passed away.
Clare needs to do more of this type of try. She has an adorable personality beyond that beautiful face.

When I was a kid we had basically the Slap chop and it was really old, like it looked like it was from the 1940s. It screwed onto a jar like a lid and had a metal and wood plunger with blades on the jar end. A wood disk protected the bottom of the jar. We only used it for chopping nuts.

I bought and used the Flex tape with success!
I bought 2 of the massaging heating pads - this one and one from QVC. Both of them saved my life when I had torn rotator cuffs, in both shoulders, at the same time. I would not have made it through to the very long wait to surgery, without these!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely love them. Kept my 98 year young mother warm, also!
I have not purchase the Shaker Exerciser. May help my shoulder, too. I may buy it, now.

My dad used to have a slap chop, used that thing for everything lol! He did have an older model than this one, got it back in the 90s.
I myself have gotten some infomercial stuff that worked really well, then of course there's the ones that are just terrible.
I remember there was some "thing" I wanted so badly, I think was called the red devil. It was a grill thing that you could take camping and cook eggs, and make a cake and all these other absurd ideas. Weirdest part, I'm not even much of a camper, but I wanted that thing so bad. I was still in highschool though, so I managed to control myself. 🤣
I've tried to look it up since and all I find is vacuums. lol
My Mom had one from back in the 50's. It actually had a glass jar that it screwed onto.
The thing was still wicked sharp and functional in the 80's.
It got used every Christmas to chop nuts for cookies.
Most dubious: the inside the eggshell scrambler. It featured a pointed rod that one would break into the egg, and it was attached to a cupped base with a motor that turned the rod. The purpose: to scramble the egg INSIDE the shell before breaking the egg into pan, mixing bowl, etc. "Makes french toast, souffles, omelets..." The marketing lays in the potential for great cuisine.

I have successfully used flex tape to seal up things it had no right to seal and I was mad when none of them got it to work at first. I'm glad y'all eventually figured it out but you can sure as hell tell that every single one of these people is calling a handyman at the drop of a hat.

The chopper thingy needs to be on a flat surface, ideally a cutting board that gives a little. Your not-flat plates were the problem. But you TRIED.
