At 24:49 I think orange hit red instead of black in retaliation for red having just fortified his position in such a way as to not give orange an easy card. Red could have left his troops where they were and orange would have been happy to take a card and pass. I took it as orange intending to send the message "you card block me with a small stack, and I will hit your stack, so don't do that".
Thing is, I don't even think red noticed that he was doing that. I think he was just taking a card and fortifying back to where he was without realizing that it was giving orange no good spot to take a card.
I love some of plato's ideas- obviously some others are- relics of their time. But The Cave is interesting, and I read it during an advanced lit class in college as an aside while we were reading/dissecting Fahrenheit 451

Would it have been possible to go for the africa bonus at the start, stack in western europe, attack down, then fortify troops together? Edit: BTW I said this before he even took his first turn, right as green was going, so with only that knowledge.
43:25 I think black moving the stack is more of an indirect guard on Australia. As black here I would feel the need to be able to punish orange if he tries to take AUS.
have you thought of doing a speed run video series where you start from a new account and see how far you get?
would love to see one where the rule is you can't add any troops anywhere other than Australia until you've held it for at least one turn haha

So I just played another Europe Advanced Zombie, where the red player saw me defend Italy from North Africa. He took all but one off and I left my 20 on there. 2 goes later blue, who was sweepimg the board sweeping down from a double block in Northern France and working his way anti clockwise around the board from iceland, uk, France, Spain and into NA, killed them leaving 25 on NA. For my go I placed 2 beside red next to a block and his troops in below Scandi entrance and attacked a 1 of his with the 3 withdrawing the remaining 2 to the little pocket beside him. All he had to do was go around Northern Europe to the East of Scandi to find where my 3 remaining other positions were. Or wait for Zombies to finish me. But no, rather than be patient he found just the first one and then hit the 2 territories. Next the zombies killed me and got my 5 cards. It simply boggles the mind that he did not think my actions unusual and friendly and consider waiting until I added THREE soldiers next to him. I was giving him the choice of either being my buddy and helping him, or finding the other locations in next few goes, quite close by in Crimea and Near St Petersburg on a normal map. Patience is a virtue and thinking is in short supply it seems in Risk, here'sto all the over attackers, yah fkn idjuts. 😊

Oh my god. I can’t tell ya how many times I’ve had a similar Australian spawn and it goes two ways:
1. Four noobs flock to the position and ofc locks the big spawn stack (which I’m never able to add to- would be dumb)
2. I disappear from the POS continent like a set of rims at a Puff Daddy concert (preferred)
I h8 AUS with a passion. Rather single stack Asia or migrate to Africa to be with the starving pygmies
Pretty sure that they let you live because orange was passive and red was a full homie

In True Random 2 stacks defend really well.

The question at @23:00 is straight from Plato. I don't like it because Plato is trying to say the the reality of living in the cave should be rejected in favor of the hypothetical life outside the cave. Who cares about the life outside the cave if you will only ever be in the cave? Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs trumps that philosophical outlook. No one cares about EV versus fossil fuels when they can't find food and are in danger of their house getting bombed.
Trigon if you get a bad start you're not going to win unless very lucky with kills after stacking on your cap but the bonuses are so big they'll roll your cap if youre without bonuses by round 5 or 6....I like to stick in a bot so if I'm lucky I can camp beside him and take his cap...

You should only be allowed to move the amount of troops you choose with the slider. That way you may risk any amount of your choice.

We shouldn't have to make a non-choice with the slider at all.
If the correct decision is always to slider to 100% to take all of the mechanical action is not strategic and this purports to be a strategy game.

Clicks/APM ‘shouldn’t’ matter or at least……… the interface should be streamlined as much as possible, to avoid the need for superfluous clicking with no strategic elements behind them

I don't take it that way.
I think because those are the two most apparent and impactful design flaws in the game at the moment. Good design is often invisible, but bad design sticks out like a sore thumb. If I am the gateway to Risk for so many new players it makes a lot of sense to me that I get the same question over and over about the most obvious design flaws in the game.
I think black thought the game was true random, they kept putting allot of troops in random places.

I agree black was underskilled, but I think it was smart to steal Africa because it basically is identical to Africa or South America expanding into the other in function, leaving South America in a worse Aus equivalent.
Africa plus Aus is actually a really good position. If you stack in middle east and Singapore your nat is 12 which makes it a +6 position
So it's food pictures as the biggest move in the game so far goes on unseen....and now I'm sad... 🤣 you can just hear attack after attack after attack, we can all hear it....how doesnt he hear this 🤣

Hey Pete have you ever heard the theory that two people can look at the same thing and both agree that what ever they are looking at is the same color lets say blue but they are actually seeing two different colors. So person A calls the color blue and person B sees the color that person A would call red but they know it as blue. They both know that the color is called blue but do they actually see the same color? or is it just the same name for the color because we have been taught that is the name of the color that we are seeing?
He discussed this in video. When he mentions the word "qualia", this is exactly what he's talking about but in less words. That's what someone's "subjective experience" means. This term encompasses any experience, so like for example your taste of what something sweet is vs my taste of what something sweet is.
