I turned off 3 other 30 min "beginner" videos, but I watched your full 6 hour video...lol. Thank you for showing and explaining the jargon/numbers. Now, I understand what everything does.
Seven hours of that sweet velvety baritone and a right hand.
He could sub in for one of the oak ridge boys. But don't tell him that he would start singing on the live streams.
LMFAO... That's comedy gold my friend!!!
But I’m left handed. So I watched it in a mirror
😂
Do you drink Bud Light?!
Johnny, this is why you were SO instrumental back when I first got into reloading. Your level of detail and your long winded-ness is a feature, not a bug. You pack so much useful information into a video. When I was a newbie, that was a gold mine. You made a video that was a "review" of a press kit but it's actually a complete odyssey of "how to reload."
I've got to go get hay today, but I'm going to watch every minute of this (eventually) and I bet I still learn something. If you had a videographer, a plan/filming schedule/agenda, and someone that could help you edit it all you could EASILY produce the best video education available for beginning to intermediate reloaders.
Thanks for all you do for us dude. When I finally get around to building a real annealer, my plan is to build 2 (unless it all goes to hell in a handbasket :-) )
Mucho love from West Virginia, Matt F. (elroypshagnasty on the twitch reloading circus)
Runout?
I concur. Johnny was a reassuring voice in the sea of reloading nonsense when I started years ago
He's not long winded. That describes someone who tediously prolongs their speech, uses too many words and in a tiresome way. Johnny isn't that way; this video may be 6 hours long but that's 6 hours of solid information and he rarely if ever belabors the point. Anything "extra" is usually a well-placed quip or a bit of humor which is sorely needed in this long format.
Johnny's Reloading School
What I like about this video is you are teaching us like it was someone we looked up to and wanted us to learn like a grandfather passing down his knowledge.
Finally the full version. I just couldn't get enough info from the 25 minute "5 minute" version. This is the epic version.
Now you have every bit of info and the history of the rock chucker.
Based on the 25 minute 5 minute version, I was expecting a 30 hour timer.
I'm watching on 2x speed and it's allllllmost going at the right speed. Lol
I love that my two favorite reloading channels are friends!
What press would you recommend for a beginner that can do precision 6.5 creedmoor?
25:00 "It's hard to screw up a trickler" This is foreshadowing for later when he realizes it's backwards lol.
Am I really going to watch this whole thing again a year later?...You bet your ass I am!
I'd like to congratulate myself and the others in the credits who made this video possible.
I wish CZcams and specifically, this channel and this particular video was around when I started reloading. What a great video packed with so much valuable information for new loaders as well as experienced. This is a must watch for any new reloader. Watch the whole video, grab a notebook, take notes. You won’t find another source with such an in depth, step by step guide anywhere.
Thank you for taking the insane amount of time to shoot, narrate, edit all your videos and put these out. Truly grateful.
Slowing down 5 minute timer is a epic trick. If you mentioned this during the editing twitch stream I missed it. Do that for the whole video it's only a couple hours.
Two 15 minutes breaks, One 30 minute lunch and this video equals my work day is over lol.
John, your a lot more entertaining then gaven toobe.
Just finished your video. Thank you for a very well done video. I dont have any reloading equipment, yet, but I no longer feel like a newbie either. Everything made sense.
A ton of work went in to this (Watched on Twitch), thank you for what you do mate! I definitely will play this while doing some reloading myself, over and over again.
So many pearls of knowledge interlaced, this is pretty much a must watch for first time reloaders! Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this together and share it with the rest of us!
Thank you for all the great content! I learned how to reload from years of watching JRB...I love these long form videos! Even though i'm already a fairly experienced reloader, It's still fun seeing how other people think about all the small nuisances of the reloading process...
It’s gonna be a great background video to play while reloading for years to come.
As someone trying to get into reloading, this video is gold! Thanks for the great content
Freakin sweet man..lol. I sure hope you return, your videos are awesome man!! Thanks.👍🏻✌🏻
Jrb I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into this long format video. It's why I love you channel you dont try and over condense stuff. When it comes to reloading I personally do not want the shorten version of anything. It took me a week to watch it and was well worth it. Thank you. I enjoy these.
Greatest CZcams video of all time!
as a new re-loader, and also a Kentuckian, I appreciate your time and attention to detail. thank you for all that you do.
Now I just need to find 7 hours to watch it all. Thanks for your hard work and dedication, Mr.Bench.
Finally got to finish watching this. Fantastic video. JRB production at its best, full of information!
Should have called this the 10 minute review of the rebel press. :)
Amazing! I just got one of these as my first reloading press and here i find that you have a 6 hour video about it. You have by far the best reloading channel and you’ve given me a ton of help to get started.
All the sweat and tears from editing has paid off. Looking forward to watching the entire thing!
Finally finished the entire thing. The best part was listening to you do it as I did 45ACP at the same time.
Man, I’m just getting into reloading and your videos are fantastic. Explaining answers to all the questions I have. With long videos set up in chapters it’s just perfect. Thanks for your effort. You’re helping me more than you could ever know.
Only took me 2 days to watch all of it. Very well put together! Lots of good info for those getting started.
Great vid! It would have shaved at least six months off the learning curve when I started out. Keep up the great work.
I know this took a lot of time and effort and I want to thank you for this. As a newbie, I learned so much from this. Just so much information in one video from start to finish. Thanks again. I truly appreciate all the time and effort you put into this.
I've already shared this video with several people, great job, helps both new and experienced reloaders.
I just got one and a hornady trimmer for 500 out the door. I saw this video and had to try it. Wanted to say thank you for putting this video together. I’m very excited to get back into loading. It’s been about 16 years since I’ve used a press.
This has to be the best reloading channel for decades, 6 hours review is just insane, and all that in depth details about the kit.
not to mention "list of crap you need" or "looks like the female reproduction system" this channel is 10/10
I imagine the people that just tune in occasionally, ignore the youtube comments and the twitch stuff, are just completely at a loss for comprehension, especially when the end credits roll. I hope they're still happy, but they have only caught a small glimpse of the world they are missing.
This was an undertaking of herculean proportions, and I'm glad to see that you're happy.
Another excellent tutorial, thank you. I especially like that you show even when things go bad (even if it is only a trickler), all contributes to experience, as if it was my own. Thumbs up for the 5min summary and the credits. Greetings from metric Germany.
I just wanted to thank you for this excellent content, I had just ordered the Rebel Plus kit when I found this content and I have to say you have explained and demonstrated so many areas that I was unsure about. I have not started to physically load yet, still trying to assemble all of the necessary components. (Individual items are still in short supply in Aus), but after watching this, I feel a lot more confident than I did before. Many thanks again and I will now be watching much more of your content.
Was absolutely the best 7 hours(over a few sittings) spent. I getting into reloading and you’ve totally help make my decision. Really love the amount of detail explained in this video and all your videos. Thank you. Hopefully RCBS took notes of issues you ran into and improved quality of the scale at least.
I stuck it out for the whole 6 hours (split over several days lol). Thank you for posting this. I just got my first press, and this was SO valuable. Reloading is total information overload, and now I feel confident loading my first few cases.
Ok it took me a few days and a lot of sessions to go over the full video. I appreciated the explanations of the thought process behind reloading and why things are done.
What a master piece. Great video as always Johnny!!
for those looking into reloading this is a great place to start - add in the other videos on specific calibers that Johnny offers and you have saved yourself months of clawing in the dark - get good results way faster than most have in the past.
Stayed up late to finish this one. Now your regular length videos are all gonna feel like shorts. Thanks for all the good info!
Absolute master class. Thank you Johnny.
Welcome back! Love your stuff, been with you for 4 years since I built my 6.5 Grendel AR. You are a digital guy but I love analog, no batteries to run down or out, no wondering how far off they are, simple and accurate. I still check them but they are never off and I often use digital and then the analog to double-check the accuracy. My RCBS RC kit came with their M500 beam scale, I got the Hornady dial calipers on sale and for about $15 the Lyman Reloader's Micrometer is fantastic for anything (like bullet diameter) under one inch. That one measures to one ten-thousanth so the most accurate tool out there.
I bought this kit a few months ago but have not started reloading. After viewing this video, I took my scale out this weekend and tested it. I have the RCBS calibration weights and used them and the one the scale came with. My scale worked 100% every time I placed weights on it. I agree with you, I think you got a bad scale. I did not skip to the last 5 minutes, lol. I watched the full video as I am learning reloading and it's just what I do. So far, your video gave me the best information and you covered several items which nobody else does. Thanks for the informative video.
the credits and production team are awesome
Dude this is THE marathon review on steriods! I love my RCBS Rebel and you were instrumental in me giving this thing the nod. I have not had an issue with mine and it has been cranking out the most precision Creedmoor ammo I've ever seen. Very repeatible in terms of concentricity and COAL. Its also pretty good at smashing hickory nuts🤣. What! It was hungry! Really the king of reloading reviews and I'm happy with the press. Thanks!!!!
Great video....Yes, I watched it all, not in one sitting of course, covered some items I’ve never considered but now am.
Was a pleasure to watch your antics even learned a thing or two
I came really close to buying this press kit but ended up just buying the RCBS Partner press and a Dillon 550C. I knew I wanted to get into reloading so I just went for it and jumped in head first. Now I have a single stage press to work up a load and Dillon had a thing where you can build your own press kit so I got the progressive to reload bulk 223/556, 6.5 Grendel/Creedmoor once I get a good load worked up and pistol ammo. I bought my last die set right when the Kung-Flu stuff hit but by the time my Dillon came in I was down to my last 300 primers and everything disappeared so haven't really got to mess with it. But the Partner press I've loaded some ammo and for the size of the press I really like it because it doesn't take up very much room on the bench. Glad to see you back on CZcams JRB you rock brother!!!
Nice👍 primers will be back eventually.
I bought a RCBS reloading outfit to start my reloading experience. I used the RCBS for many years loading many different calibers, mostly the expensive Weatheby calibers. I had never reloaded rifle or pistol before the RCBS but did reload quite a bite of shotshell. I bought a reloading video to teach myself how to reload and took many notes and followed the steps and had remarkable results. I do not shoot much rifle anymore and the RCBS has been long gone but always enjoyed the reloading experience. I enjoy your video and will keep watching. Thank You.
Me, not looking at video length at all.
Johnny mentions video length.
Me: checks length, spits out coffee, smiles knowing I can listen to JRB while I finish prepping like 2000 cases
Edit: I want that RCBS stool in the Natchez ad
This is so awesome, getting down to the nitty gritty!
Need more of these videos man.. iv seen this befor and have been loading for year and know most of this but it's information and entertaining
Well done. Very good job!
I was just looking at this kit in the store. Nice to get such an excellent review.
Cant believe i just watched 6 hours and 47 minutes, it was that good. Still a little confused on how the die is stretching the case.
I really enjoyed it brother! Been trying to decide witch kit to get and this helped a lot! Great job! 🙂👏👏👍
Wow! I made it to the end! Wahoo!
Great video! Thanks.
excellent video! i can see me referencing this video many times in the future.
Hey pal I appreciate you. This is the kit I ordered. Got it under 400 bucks from mid south shooters supply. I have now been through this video twice. Still have a ton of questions. Once again thank you for your insight.
Love putting on Johnny while loading some 9,45,270win and some shot shells especially if it’s one of his long videos.
Great video! Took me two days to watch it but well done
Hi
I use a brush and graphite powder to dust off all items that come into contact with powder, this eliminates any static and sticking of powder.
Great vid as always 👍👍👍
12/27/23 - just got the RCBS Rebel Master Kit on sale on Amazon for $349! Thanks for the video!
Masterpiece VIDEO 👍
Comprehensive gear review for knowledgeable, hobby reloaders. I don’t think the “beginner” is watching, but if so, the 6 hour price tag got em 😂
Excellent video watched all 6.5 hrs
I got started with the first Rock Chukker in the early 1970s. I reloaded everything with it, .410, 20ga, 12ga (in light to hunting loads), .25. .38. 357mag, .222, .223, .243, 3030,. .300wm. I used it to load incremental powder and bullets to find the most accurate load for each of my firearms. I show a lot on teams and just target shooting. I bought lot primers, lot cases, lot bullets and lot powders. I shot spring, summer, and fall. When winter hit I spent my spare time in the reloading room all winter to have 15,000 rounds ready for spring again. I loved that system. BTW, I bought 5,000 round cans of .22LR also.
EXCELLENT VIDEO AND THANK YOU !!!
What a great job, Thank you !
The most charismatic and entertaining right hand ever
33:11. 😁😂. “To put your weed in there”. 🤣
The greasy stuff off the dryer sheets is the fabric softener. Most people don't know that fabric softener doesn't actually soften fabric, it coats it with a fine layer of lubricant that makes it feel softer because it's slick. It's a friction modifier not a softener. So when you're drying off after a shower with that nice soft feeling towel you just washed, you're actually just smearing lube all over yourself.
That's also why washing machines or that Downy ball that some people use don't add fabric softener until towards the end of the wash cycle, if you add it when the detergent is still in the water mix it washes away all the fabric softener, aka lubricant.
And so the 7hrs begins
Dig your channel. Great work as always
Holy crap you finally finished it
lol that ending caught me off guard. WOOOOO
Such an amazing video. Legit class in session. Thank you
Dang, Ernesto...with the slowed down clock and all...I thought it was just a gag! You really *did* make a six hour video.
Awesome video worth paying for!!!
Bravo Bravo Bravo 🙌 and balloons and confetti fall from the sky’s in honor of this 6 hours 45 minutes and 27 seconds of pure Cinema excellence in the reloading world possibly all of cinema good job Johnny I’ll be watching this at least once more
I love that hand primer sit on the couch and prime is great
Brah, 1 minute and 30 seconds in, you're a fucking gem.
"Feeling Stuck? Astroglide! We're the right lube for you!" That popped in my head when he was talking about lubes. Yeah...
Cool. Good job
I'm not going to spend my Thursday watching 6+ hours on........
(Yes, yes I am)
Excellent walk through, very much appreciated, saved the video because it covers everything ever!!!
Already an hour in on this video. What's wrong with me? You Sir, are awesome.
I use the uniflow powder measure metal mounting bracket but I put it one the edge of my table. I never even thought of connecting it to the press itself using the die to secure it. I'm going to try that and see
Cracks me up you can tell Johnny and his cat get into it. My cat cat does the same thing to my hand. Battle wounds lol
I like that metal primer catcher on the rockchucker.Mine is plastic
thx for the video, i just bought the set and this video help me alot.
It there a assesory primer tool so one can prime with the press insteed of using the handversion one.
Me: oooh that looks like a good kit.
Me, three minutes later: 😵 $500
5:42.44 That was the Monica Lewinsky view... LOL
That 3way cutter for the trimmer also comes with a micro feeding system for the other end of the trimming shaft and you will need the proper neck bushing for the cases your doing , they call it case neck turning accessories don't use on trim pro or trim pro-2 power case trimmer
Thanks Johnny. I have enjoyed your videos for years. I've always had a small reloading bench and I use the powder drop attaching plate under a die on the press. When I'm done charging cases the empty powder drop goes in a box on the shelf and keeps my small bench open for other processes.
The Rebel looks a whole lot like the JR2 & JR3. I bought the JR3 in 1976 and had to figure it all out by myself. I'm still trying to perfect reloading 46 years later.
The credits are the best part!
I use that Case Slick for sizing. It works really good. I just lightly spray it on all sides, let it sit for 10 minutes and then they load smooth and easy.
Do you angle the case mouth away from the spray? Because what came to my mind was letting it sit would allow lube to pool by flash hole. Have you ever tried the Redding dry case lube?
@@gardnerwebb3749 No I don't angle the spray away from the case mouth. It is a pump not an aerosol, I give it a pump from all four angles of the case block and just kind of mist it over all the cases. I then let it "dry" for 10 minutes and proceed to resizing, I check length and trim if necessary, de burr and champ fer, then throw them in my vibratory cleaner for an hour or so. It makes resizing easy and not a stuck case yet.
@@gardnerwebb3749 No I don't angle the case mouth away because I spray across the cases not into them, this lightly lubes the inside.
Absolut great video. I want to start with reloading now I already ordered the Rebel Master Kit and I was so lucky last week on IWA2024 Fair because I got gifted the Matchmaster FL B Set 6.5 Creedmoor die set.
