As an Italian enthusiast, it's been especially rewarding to watch the amazing work that's gone into your Fulvia so far. It sure will be one of the best examples around, once it'll be all done. Congratulations to you and to all the people involved in the project!
And thank you for all the great Italian car videos
You do a lot of great projects but this one has to be your best, well worth the very long wait.
Good to see you here Matteo.
The one we have been waiting for.
I have to say I enjoy these old car videos much more than the reviews of the latest supercars. I cannot wait to hear the sound of the engine being revved once it has time to be broken in.
When you see how thin those A and B pillars are on that car. Aesthetics over safety every time. A thing of absolute beauty.
I think I can say on behalf of everybody, we are all all throughly enjoying this restoration build of the Zagato.
That is by far the best Zagato Fulvia I saw to date including the new ones that were bought and used in my family when I was a tech-nerdy 12 year old. It might be a good part better than Zagato's products coming from the fabbrica (which actually was more of a "manufattura" anyway). Those technical "introductions" and the sorted wiring will make her an enjoyable, reliable car for every day without the usual Diva-drama Italian cars (and motorbikes, for that matter) of that era usually bring with them. Fantastic restoration and even better because done with love and not the economic rationality which usually rules the Fulvia out of such class of rebuild because You'll never "get it back" when offering a car like that to today's market. It ain't for getting it back though, it's for havin' it. Absolutely marvelous. Thanks for sharing.
As a Lancia Scorpion and Zagato owner I can really appreciate this incredible restoration. As the soulless 21st century grinds on I can't help but think these Italian art pieces will become more coveted. Every day even the most mundane aspects of these cars bring me joy - La Dolce Vita!
I am so glad, (along with thousands of others) that you chose to do this restoration Harry and recorded the process. Without that record I don’t think people would truly appreciate the skill and work that will be hidden beneath the gorgeous skin of this car. Your record will stand as testament to the skilled engineers and craftsmen involved 😊
YOU can’t wait? Harry, there are literally thousands of us just champing at the bit to see (and hear) this glorious little Fulvia fired up. Four weeks, huh? Eternity… [sobs]
I'm so glad you've done this Harry. The focus on the Ferrari's, Lambo's and Maseratis, the "hero" Italians, overshadows the smaller cars. The "super car" V12 thing is awesome and if I can ever afford an Espada I will get one but the Alfetta's, Guilia 105's, Fulvia's, 124 fiats and so one are a different thing. They got USED! To me the ordinary Italian cars have their own attraction and while the Zagato is special it has all the joys of these little, buzzy, nimble cars. It is, and probably was, rare to see someone really driving the hero Italians. They have low mileage because they are 'special occasion' cars. On the other hand the 4 cylinder cars were driven until they broke in half or rusted beyond economic repair.
On another note, it is lovely to meet the guys in the industrial estates who take pride in their work. There's honour in mastering your trade. More of this please. I'd really like you to revisit the 116 Alfa GTV and GTV6 (my passion). Done right these are beautiful, fast, nimble and affordable cars. The UK has guys who put together top notch cars. Ask to review a car they are proud of. JC's car is typical of those cars that have never really been sorted.
Thanks again. This is quite inspirational.
Dm.
Thanks for posting this Lancia Zagato update Harry. This is one of my favourite rebuilds from your channel & the quality of the finished red/orange paintwork is a real credit to all the skill, hard work & craftsmanship that Ade & Sam put into restoring what was a badly corroded bodyshell, with 'tons' of filler.
With the engine, gearbox & subframe having been installed, the car is coming along nicely. Whilst I can appreciate there's still a lot more to do, I hope you can begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel .
Keep up the great work & please don't keep us waiting too long for the next episode!
I don't have much in my life , but having the luxury of Harry's garage vids, make the necessities feel that little less important.
Harry now has one of the finest Jag coupes, Lambo Espadas and Lancia Fulvias anywhere in the world. This man is the very definition of a gentleman steward of classic automotive art and special kudos to craftsmen and engineers that He commissions to do this incredible work... Bravo to all...
6:04 Those welds are a functional work of art.
Isn’t it great we’ve still got super talented people out there that can rebuild your car
Harry is probably the best client you can have but despite that, it does require some confidence to let him film the marriage of the chassis and engine like that. 👏
Absolute perfect timing for a lovely Sunday evening bedtime viewing 👏👏👏👌👌👌👌
Amazing work carried out by the bodyshop, especially with all the bits of metal that they had to make themselves. If anyone reading this hasn't seen the previous reports on the Fulvia, you need to binge watch them just to appreciate all the work done.
Brilliant workmanship.
With all that bodywork sorted this must be one of if not the best in the world . Looking forward to seeing it back on the road .😊
I dare say there's not much original metal left on that car. Yet it's all the better for it. I doubt many have much original metal, but paint hides everything
Simply awesome. Master craftsmen. These folks are the beating heart of the classic car world. You cannot rush a restoration!
The best thing about this is that it's going to get driven like he stole it.. well done Harry.
Most of the time, rebuilds of this quality go straight to investor storage.
Seeing your Fulvia at Pebble Beach 2023 would be a real pleasure - as it will be one of the best in the world.
“like a new issue of EVO has arrived “ Great quote!
Imagine the thrill of receiving a new 50 year old Lancia Fulvia Zagato, wow.
The whole time they were lowering that body onto the drivetrain I was telling Harry to shut up... out loud! My hat is off to the shop owner for letting Harry watch and "help" with such a delicate situation. Really like Harry's vid's but there's a time just to watch.
This is probably the best restored Lancia Fulvia Zagato in the world thanks to Harry!
I cant believe the job they’ve done on the bodywork, its utterly amazing, what craftsmen.
Basically the old car is almost gone these craftsmen hand crafted a new bodyshell!!
completely agree, it's spectacular
The crazy thing about good body work is when it's done it doesn't look like anything happened.
Just what I was thinking.
When Harry dropped it off it looked (albeit on camera) a nice solid example, and a good "10 footer"
Now (colour aside) it looks sort of the same, but from 10cm.👍
Harry, you deserve an award for all the restoration work you do on classic cars. Good to see these grand vehicles getting the (expensive) tlc they deserve.
"For all the restoration work YOU do?"
This guy writes a check to other people to work on his cars.
They deserve the rewards.
There will be a Zagato meet in the Classic Car Calendar that will be waiting on the horizon to be up for the award.
Preserved for another 50 years, better than new by some considerable distance!
@@thomasmulhall4873 yes my thoughts exactly, the only tool is a big cheque book
@@thomasmulhall4873. Cheque. 🙂
@@thomasmulhall4873 Ooooh. You seem appear to be a little bitter?
¥our open wallet approach to restorations is truly a credit to car afficianados. A true steward of collector automobiles.
These cars are something else to drive. Exquisite and they talk to you.
Beautiful color. They say one has either time or money. I enjoy spending lots of time watching Harry spend lots of money. If I still had any I'd be doing the same thing.
That engine is going to sound delightful.
Is it sacrilegious to admit that I'm even more excited by this Lancia Fulvia 1600 Zagato than I am by your Lamborghini Countach? Of course I love the thought of both these cars being brought back to proper health in all of their glory, each one by very competent craftsmen. However, knowing of your personal connection with this model and all of the amazing work that has gone into this car really makes it something extra special in my mind.
Following along with this series has certainly been one of my favorite CZcams experiences over the years. Just as with your visits to Tyrrell's Classic Workshop, I've really enjoyed you highlighting all of the work that has been carried out by the folks at Prestige Refinishing and Day & White's Automotive. The knowledge and skill set on display at such businesses is all too rare in this day and age and the respect I have for them is beyond measure. I'm very much looking forward to a driving video featuring this gorgeous little Lancia!
I wasn't sold on that body style before, just seemed too bulbous. But now with all the small touches and curves brought to the surface, it is absolutely brilliant.
Its been great to follow the journey, I'm restoring a 1975 fulvia s3 for the second time (1st time 11yrs ago)
Just back from paint shop, glass is going in soon, full brake system rebuild just finished, its getting there, I love these cars
Wow! That bodyshell is better than anything that left the Zagato factory. This little car is sure to be better than new when complete. Looking forward to the next installment.
Almost there, it’s going to be a very cool little Italian special!
Yes, really really outstanding job. People were a little disappointed with the Jaguar, but this is another result.
You’ve got all the cars, but this is the best one.
What a transformation! I still can’t get over the standard of the bodywork from new
What a magnificent restoration. Recreated by some wonderful craftsmen 👍👏👏👏
Looking amazing Harry. The quality of the work is stunning. You must be very proud.
Dry summer use only Harry. Damp and salt would soon ruin it. It should be a genuinely quick car now with no filler in the body weighing it down. It's far better than the day it rolled off Lancia's production line. Presteige certainly live up to their name. A fantastic finish on the body. I know you have paid for their services but make sure you thank them so very much as what they have done to renovate and paint your Fulvia's previously decrepit body is nothing short of fabulous. True craftsmen.
It is virtually a brand new car, only better than the original. As others have noted, the craftsmenship is truly impressive. Really appreciate you taking us on this journey. Looking forward to the dy when you get behind the wheel and take it down the road. Thanks for sharing.
The body restoration is beyond any expectations! WOW WOW WOW what a craftsmanship of Prestige Refinishing
I have to say Harry, when you have a job done - you have it done properly. This (and the Jag) have been restored beautifully.
I have been eager to see the Fulvia 'in paint', and what a job they have done. Its so good now that the under bonnet view is spoiled by a slightly crusty fan shroud on the bulkhead ! Picky, I know, but really shows up with everything looking so crisp.
Well done Harry.
I could write a number of fantastic stuff….but it all resumes to…TOP!
Harry, thank you so much for this journey. Knowing that craftsmen still exist to do brilliant work like this, fills my heart with joy. Other than the Jag, this the best yet.
Very happy to see this nearly completed. And...I never realized until this moment, looking the subframe and the peek at the rear hubs that the Zagato is FWD.
Nothing like having the owner there and chiming in his suggestions while your doing delicate, intricate work…
I was super skeptical but this color grew on me instantly: nice choice. Congratulations. What a looker!
What a wonderful story this is.
Proper restoration job! The ultimate goal of any resto must be to preserve the vehicle for the future, you've (collectively) done a better job of that than most!
I watched how you used to throw this car around before the rebuild. You will feel a lot more confident now now there is no rust to let go!
Best one of these in the world now Harry!
Love it thanks Harry. Lancias have always held a special place in my heart and I have no idea why!!
I can’t wait to see you drive it. The joy on your face will be epic.
Dare I say, Harry's nicest car.
the whole car is a work of art, the subframe with all the components on it is a work of art in itself
Lovely to see this car really starting to be put back together.
So much work, skill, love and attention has gone into it! It will be wonderful to see it back on the road eventually
This is the best series of vids I’ve seen anywhere not just CZcams! It’s Harry’s ability to involve his audience. This must be one of the very best Lancia Fulvia Zagatos anywhere. Now just needs a trip to somewhere like Corsica for a blast!!
What a glorious little motor.
Stunning. Hats off to the fantastic craftmanship still available to restore cars or anything to better than factory condition.
Ed's "Golden Nugget" and now this - two different rebuilds - both fascinating, what a feast!
I am speechless.....gobsmacked!
From blemished black to ragging red - what a transformation, looks glorious 🙂
Many thanks also to the builders of the Lancia Zagato Fulvia! It's great to see the handiwork of real professionals! Great job!
Got to be the best in the country from where it started full of filler to where it is now is testament to all that have worked on her and Harry's wallet !
Once again, I can’t help for being in awe for the time and most certainly money you invest in bringing the specs of your classic’s up to pristine conditions. Where many would have backed away and leaving it up to the next generation - if any - you just carried on and as thus, bringing classic cars back on the road in a better than new condition.
Enjoying every step of this magnificent rebuild. pleased to see all the different shops and their owners speak about their business. An exercise in patience that is rewarding at every step
Thanks for this Harry. My most eagerly awaited video on CZcams. I had a standard Fulvia back in the 80s and always sorry I sold it. I was appreciative of the great design and engineering then, and it's great to see the skills of the original designers being appreciated, and it's great to see the skills of the guys doing the restoration. And it looks superb!! The exhaust looks fab. There's one (standard 1300) running around near me, but the owner has replaced that glorious engine with and electric motor. WHY? The point of any Fulvia (standard or Zigato) is its style and its engine. Electric cars may be more practical today, but I really hope we do not lose the engineering skills that it took to make and restore your Fulvia. Thanks again and looking forward to the next installment.
Wow, just wow. What a transformation. Can’t wait to see the finished car. You must be dead chuffed Harry.
Beautiful work by very talented people. Fantastic.
Super job. Can’t wait to see it all finished.
This little Lancia has been a delight from the start, but now it's even better... especially the color. Bravo!
Harry can’t wait and neither can we😁
Loved watching this one on the amazing journey that it's been through with some amazing artisans working their skills.
You are an Amazing Kid Harry.... Thank you for that. Rgds
I find myself pre-envying Harry for the first drive experience that awaits him.
When you see Lancia have designed a nice double wishbone front suspension, the rear end is very agricultural, with a solid axle and leaf springs plus a panhard rod and a rear anti-roll bar, you would have thought they could have come up with an independent rear suspension even for car that was designed in the early '70s, there were plenty or other cars with independent rear suspension at that time. The shell looks amazing, considering what a rot box it was before, and the paint work is very impressive.
Just catching up with the latest 2 videos. What a glorious paint finish to this rebuild, and the drive train looks amazing. Bet Harry Never drives it in the wet!!!!!! Fantastic car.
The effort Iain's team has put into this car... it is gorgeous. I have never seen paint that clear and countours that perfect, even in brand-new cars. Simply gorgeous.
I appreciate how much you are willing to put into a car to make it right... better than new in some cases.
It's better than new in most cases. These things were not well made in the factory - all shortcomings have been addressed in this rebuild. Doesn't mean it will drive differently, but it will be lot more durable.
It's no wonder 'home restorations' end up forgotten or abandoned when it takes the professionals this long to do things right! Love seeing Harry spend his money for our entertainment! Can't believe my life is passing by so quickly - must get out more!
Body work and colour! It looks amazing.
Harry, I want a Fulvia like yours so much - so few 1600's left.
Hat off, whole car and story behind it is unbelievable
I’d be scared to drive it but I’m sure Harry will take it on an epic journey. I hope so.
Best series on the chanel
Yes! I’ve been waiting for the next upload of the Fulvia
This and the Jag are my two favourites from Harry. Love it, makes my day seeing a new Fulvia video.
Can't believe the change in this car, from how bad it was before to how well it has been restored to former glory. Well done Harry.
The quality of collaboration is pretty evident, bodywork, paint and certainly the mechanical end too.
Beautiful restoration. Surprised by the amount of space behind the engine, it really hangs out the front!!
Very nice. Just like I did my Coupe last year, same color also. Yes, I was able to lift the car by myself from the front when I had the engine and subframe out. The upright aluminium 'towers' were painted black from the factory rather than leaving them bare aluminium.
I don't know if the word "Superb" does enough justice to the quality of the work done fettling that body shell back into shape...and paint finish.
Same for that magnificent little V4 mill with its ancillaries and immaculate sub-frame....
FANTASTIC.
Thank you Harry, for this wonderful ongoing video series.
What a beauty, Bob
So very enjoyable watching good people do proper good work. Beautiful.
Harry's outdone himself on this one. What an exquisite little jewel.
Just love this story, amazing job.
Fantastic update Harry, congrats on the progress. I have to say the body work is sublime.
I love following your restoration builds, we get to see all the hardwork and craftsmanship that goes into it.
The only other build series of this quality is the Aussie Howard Astill's build of a XC Falcon.
