3:37 the magical books appearing on your hands hahaha
as some one who does deliveries in NYC my 12v horn is almost the best money spent beside a legit headlight... def gets pedestrians attention as they all stare at their phones in the middle of the street (no joke)
Thank you for your vids. I know hundreds if not thousands of man hours probably went in to editing all your vids! Keep up the awesome work!
thank you ordered the recommended parts , the switch was ordered 3 months coming from china during Covid, other than waiting install went flawless thanks again very happy with the looks and function on a rad mini bb
Installed it along with the led strips.
Very impressed by the horn, very loud!
Great video as usual. Simple and easy understanding for a none electric engineer :)
you are a genius. I love all your videos, I ordered your book on amazon should be coming in tomorrow. I cant wait!
I've been contemplating installing a horn like that on my bike, now I know how! Thanks!!
Thanks for all the great links! I purchased my BBSHD and battery from them.
Thx for the lesson, can't wait to make my own bike.
Thank you... ordered the horn today... I feel better about doing the install now...
Sweet man! Thanks for the free book!
Thanks for watching and taking part! Be sure to send me a private message (visit my channel page) and let me know which book you'd like and where to send it!
Nice work as always, thanks for the info!
Great, I'm adding one to my bike. Also could you explain the "Star Delta wiring" & how it works for speed. Enjoying all the videos. Thanks
Great video, Thank you from Mexico.
Im a big fan of your channel, thanks for the info :)
Awesome video as usually. Thanks a ton! 😀
I like the idea of simplicity with car parts and I want to try to upgrade my ebike with air horn. Great tips
Love your very informative video's, I would be over the moon if I won one of your books Mike.
Thank you for all your videos they are great.
Have learned a lot from your video,s Micah, thank you, one question though, I don,t think you have ever mentioned testing the Internal Resistance of the lithium batteries you use, is this because you mainly use brand new ones, keep up the great video,s regards Doc Cox.
THANK YOU I thought you were going to over drive the horn with 48 volts. I never new that they made that inexpensive but good horn in 48 Volt. How about 48 volt lighting?
great video and thanks
I would love the book!
I need it to put a horn on my ebike. Thanks for your video👍
I’m looking at building a large e bike battery, does the weight of a large battery ever compromise the range you can get out of it?
Good video!
Great tutorial! This is exactly what I needed. You have a new subscriber! :D
If I wanted to wire in some turn signals to that switch you linked to (aliexpress), how would I make them blink? Is that integrated into the switch or do I need something else?
I want to start using a recumbent bicycle but the country where I live (Greece) is NOT conducive to bicycles. Let alone recumbents. I want to upgrade to E-bike when I get the cash.
when you've drained your ebike battery flat, is it okay to leave it in this state for a day or two three? or should you charge it straight away? 😊
The HORN... bright lights and loud horn are super important... I have installed maybe 4 or 5 of the same horn (I recognise the same cheap yellow box) yes they're LOUD like proper motorcycle horn... so much POWEEEEEERRR
You and E bike school should do a collaboration love both channels, and Electricbike I love your enthusiasm. It's like E bikes on Crack in a nice way though.
If I put 2 horns would I need a relay because of the amp draw when using?
Stebel Nautilus Motorcycle Air Horn. That's POWAAAAHHHH!!!! DO IT!!!
Ordered my lights and horn from ebay paid 2.50 for the horn and 1.89 for the button after watching this great tip . I also got my light from ebay its a 12w multivoltage motorcycle spotlight and is very bright . Another thing i did was where you attached your horn my bike dosnt have a hole there so i used a star fangled nut and fitted it in the bottom of my forks and fitted a aluminium flatbar bent into shape as a bracket freeing up space on the handlebars
Hello! what do you think about connect two of those horns in series to a 72V nominal litium battery?
Watched the horn hookup vidio. Would like to know how to find and hook up wires from controller to switch and horn. I do appreciate your videos very much. Thanks
Thanks for the guide
What level of current does the horn draw? Are those switches capable of handling the current for the horn? ...or should I use a relay? Thanks
Hello I watch your videos they're very helpful and yes I'm planning to put a horn on my bike thank you so much I'm also a fan
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, im still learning... but what kind of battery can I use if I don't want to hook this up to my e scooter? I'm looking at a 12V horn that I can strap to my stem.
sir, why paddle assist mode have more range/distance cover than throttle mode in e bike
I’m doing this. Thanks!
Great idea.....Good presentation...
I was getting worried about when you would come back. I guess I’m getting addicted to your video presentation. Happy new year 2018
I'm back! sometimes life gets in the way but my goal is to do 3-4 videos per month.
Thanks for this deffo gonna get one , only ebikers know how many times you can nearly get wiped out in one journey. Great info!!
Love the videos . Thank You
Nice, I didn't realize they made them for higher voltages too, I figured it was all just standard automotive 12v ones, used with some kind of DC-DC converter. I wonder if they go as high as 72v too?
Thank you so much for helping me put my horn on.
Can you help me how i make faster the motor on electric skateboard
Great video. Thanks Sir.
Someone knows what are the voltage range acepted for these horns? I am wondering if i can connect two of those in series to a 72V nominal litium battery. Thank you very much if someone answer!!
Hey @ebikeschool.com, I just got a Super73 S1 ebike which has a 48V battery - do you have any tips for connecting a power cable for the 48V horn, and do you know if adding a cable to power one of these horns could mess up the battery somehow?
Awesome videos generally, but liked this quick one as had always wondered whether e-bikers do this! AND I would love to win your DIY Lithium Batteries book!!!
great safety accessory
Hi gritings from Sweden wode love if you use a heat camera with temperature on a cell 18650 with is shorted
I went down to the junk yard and popped some alarm bells and horns off of a few wrecks. The small 12v battery I'm using is getting drained relatively quick and now I'm looking at just utilizing a "step-down" device to power the 12v toys off of my 52v battery.
cool vid, thanks!
Cool video
Great video as always! You're one of the few ones I know that use AliExpress, just like I always do :P
Yea its a great source for parts if you don't mind waiting a month for the mail. Here is Israel everything is expensive, so it makes Aliexpress an even better option!
Awesome thanks for the help
Good video...John
I do i have a radrunner bike
Can you do a video show us how to do that ?
Question for you: what accessories do you recommend putting fuses on? Thanks so much for your awesome videos!
Theoretically anything that can short and draw enough power to damage the battery. This horn could use a fuse as a just in case, such as a situation where the horn internally shorted. Rare, but it could happen. Fuses are just good insurance.
I have the same horn and is too loud! It scares the crap out of me! Is there a way to reduce da noise?!
I am in Italy now man and my next project will be ebike. So I really need that ebike book.
Good video. Didn't know they came available in 48v versions. Thanks @Micah Toll.
be ware theres issue using 48V horn with 48V lithium pack
Good video
Thanks for sharing! Really useful for the city... The problem I wasn't able to think of a solution yet is leave the battery and controller safe on the bike as I park on the streets of London... Would you have any suggestion?
Same problem here in Tel Aviv. My solution: bring the battery inside with me.
Cool, thank you. That's what I do already but it's a pain :P
Would this be the same method for a headlight only with an on/off switch? Assuming the light can handle 48v
Yes, exactly
Looks like those two books could be pretty useful - especially the battery one. Struggling to find enough Li-ion cells recently - started collecting dead laptop batteries from the local PC store (plan was to test the individual cells, build a battery from the good ones), but ever since the Tesla walls came in, people have been snapping them up to build their own.
I would like to do a similar mod but on a non electric (mountain, 21 speed) bike, anyone know if it’s possible?
I saw you on the Rifleman in the 60s!!!
I want that book
Can you do that to on electric skateboard that will be fan
You are a simple guy who knows exactly what you're doing...😉
I had set up my horn like you show here. When I tested it with all power going to the motor and head lights and running lights it killed the battery for about half an hour. After that everything came back on and worked again. I disconnected the horn and use the switch with voltmeter for the time being hooked up to a momentary switch. Any thoughts on what happened there? Thanks
52v Luna bbso2 same alliexpress switch
Sounds like something was shorting the battery, and it caused the BMS to go into protection mode. Make sure your wiring is correct. There's a chance the horn itself was shorting. They are cheap, so I wouldn't rule it out.
Thanks for the reply. I have learned a lot from your videos and website. I'll test the horn itself and see it it still works. תודה רבה
Make vdo on wiring of side, stop indication lamps
brother price??
I stay in South Africa and can't get batteries shipped to me from AliExpress. Seems I'll need to build my own like you do. Just going to get your DIY Battery book soon!
Tshepo Mathiba it's hard shipping complete batteries overseas. But you can ship the parts to make a battery. Individual battery cells can be shipped.
Is there a way to make this work using using the USB port on ebike battery?
usb is 5v
I saw your link for 18650 batteries .
Im interested in panasonic 3400mah the seller you linked has offers to good to be true . Is this seller legit ?
What about if you wanted to put 2 horns instead of one can this be possible and can you advise me on how to do this?
Just wire them in parallel
Would I need a relay if I were putting 2 horns because of the draw of electricity?
is there a way I can use this with a Luna roam fusion bike? it has a Rosenberg charge connector,
You could buy the matching part of the rosenberger, then tap into the + and - cables there. Just plug it to the charge port on the battery and you're good to go.
EbikeSchool.com thanks!! I'm wondering how to make a theft alarm with it too
I would love to put a horn like that on my bike !! Help me please thank you !!
Hi, nice tip for my bike. Also I will like my book ;-)
BUENA EXPLICACION ESO QUE NOSE INGLES...ME AYUDO MUCHO...ME GUIE DE LAS IMAGENES QUE PUSISTES DE LA INSTALACION...GRACIASSS
Can you please explain what happens when we use a 150 Amp controller for a motor which produces about a maximum of 8.5kw at 127 Amps and 96 volts.
Does the motor still draw 127 Amps irrespective of the controller or will the motor heatup because controller permits 150 Amps.
( My idea is that if the max amp rating of controller is more than what is required to run the motor,it will ensure that the controller does not heatup...Is this true?)
This is for an electric motorcycle,Any help very much appreciated.
The motor will pull as much current as it can, so if you connect it to a 150A controller without a lower limit, the motor will try to pull 150 A. If your controller is programmable, you can set a limit at maybe 100A or 120A, that way the motor won't overheat and the controller will also stay cooler as it is not pushed to its limit.
EbikeSchool.com Oh Okay...you are the best😊
just got your ebook for a Christmas gift. I'm making good headway. I saw a critique that said your book was a little outdated. The guy may just be yapping, but if it is the case, will watching your videos and reading your book be the best way to keep up with the latest trends and technologies? if not, what do you suggest. So far, I'm happy with what I've read and learned. It's easy to follow and informative.
I try to update the book every few months, but I definitely recommend watching the videos from my channel, the "electric bike" channel, and also use the endless sphere forum or endless sphere facebook group for the latest info.
EbikeSchool.com
Since this was a gift from my ex-wife (believe it or not), I'm not sure If once it's been purchased, that I'll have access to updates. How does that work?
What I meant was that the book is updated so whichever version you have now will be the most up to date version, since you just got it recently. But in the future, feel free to contact me (email address on my channel page) and I can send you a new file for the ebook once there is a new one.
Thank you so much, I really wanted this inexpensive method to work, other horns are ineffective, expensive, or downright pathetic.
nice dyi
I've been following your upgrades religiously Watt meter ,lights etc and now I have to get a horn thanks I to have a motorbike, scooter set of handle bar switches which are great and only a few £'s , How about how to instal brake lights next I know you can get the small led ones which work of the pull type brakes but what about disc's? anyway love the channel.
After all the comments I finally relented and bought the DIY E-bike book from Amazon, So here's hoping a blatant plug will get me the lithium battery book, Buying books in this day and age! is there an Epub version I did look. and £17 for what it contains is a bargain love it.
There's a kindle version of the DIY Lithium Batteries book. But maybe you'll win it anyways! It's a random drawing (I use a random number generator to choose the winner each video) but if you're sticking around long enough then odds are you'll get it!
So, in theory, I could just make hundreds of comments on how great your channel is to give me a better chance. LoL. Also, have a look at Battery packs Silver connects 18650 for an interesting take on battery making.
in for the free book!
Is there a way to tie the wires to a usb wire?
My ebike has a USB port on the battery
I guess if you have an old USB wire, you can splice that. The red wire is positive and black will be negative.
nice
Please I want a book pleeeeeaaaseeee
That’s the stock one I had on my moped it quit working so i bumped it up to a car horn just one
How can I disconnect the speed controller abrains a blue wire a brown wire and a black wire which is blue wire is for low steering brown is high and black is ground how can I connect those wires so my eBay can go faster My name is Ricky it will be helpful if you can help me thank you
The horn does not look to be loud enough for winter?
Do you know any louder horn for winter when car's windows are closed!?!
It's quite loud - I actually turned the audio down so I didn't accidentally murder anyone who was listening with headphones.
Hello, I am going to get one then. Thanks for the information.
I have one 12v i remove it frome scooter yamaha but this horn can support 36v ???????????
Ahmet Bleumoon use a buck converter
Drake Dimaria
Nice idea thank you
Probably not, it might burn out the horn. Like Drake said, you can use a buck converter to do it.
EbikeSchool.com
Thanks mike
thx
After this video I need a bigger horn!
Thank you! never see it in 48V!
FREEDA,
s.aliexpress.com/aU363AzI
i mean, saw. Micah put the link
Ooops.
I wasn't not attentive, did't notice such a detailed description with references. Excuse me.
What will happen if I connect a normal 12v car horn directly to my 48v battery?
it will fry, don't do it
Nik907 ahh ok thank you lol
Train horn will be best 👌
I set myself such signals (48V) in this way twice and both times the circuit was broken by strong induction currents, the switches disappeared very quickly. It's cheap and made in China..
Now I solved the problem: i installed a diy-scheme breaker with one n-MOSFET.
Now there is no spark in the switcher.
post a tutorial how to do it so others can!
