  • Today we did one of the most famous walks in the Lake District, Helm Crag, also known as The Lion and The Lamb. Starting from our usual spot at the layby outside Grasmere, we headed into the village, got our lunch-to-go and headed up Easedale Road and climbed Helm Crag. The weather was ok not glorious sunshine but we still enjoyed wonderful views. From here we headed to the next summit, Gibson Knott, and here the plan was changed. Instead of heading for Calf Crag we decided to go left and descend the ridge to the valley and pick up the trail for Easedale Tarn. This proved to be a good choice and from Easedale Tarn we then headed back to Grasmere via Sour Milk Gill.
Using our new map, we completed a circular route and enjoyed another fabulous day walking in the Lake District
