That was ***very*** useful. Thanks. Now, when you choose a paragraph style, do you happen to know a way to have InDesign show occurrences of that paragraph style in some kind of order? Alphabetical order would be nice, even page order would be helpful.
Hi, glad it was helpful. If I understand what you want to do correctly, you could use the indesign table of contents feature for this. It uses paragraph styles to make a list of the paragraphs using selected styles. I have a video about this. It's called "Generating Table of Contents in InDesign".
@@ccpipe Hey, CC Pipe, Thanks for the careful follow up. That wasn’t my question. I don’t think you can help, but here's a simple description of my issue. I created a 175-page book of word puzzles. I needed to setup cross-references for: Problem xxxxxx. See solution p. [?] and Solution for problem xxxxxx on p. [?] The problem was that, since I knew absolutely nothing about cross-references and how to set them when I first started working on creating the book, the style I’d called Line 2, and that I’d used for the lines “Problem xxxxxx. See solution p. [?]” and for the lines “Solution for problem xxxxxx on p. [?],” was used in many other locations in the book as well. Therefore, the window that opened when I clicked on the + sign in the cross-reference window included over a hundred occurrences of the Line 2 style, and they weren’t in any kind of order, certainly not alphabetical or numerical. So each time I clicked a + sign, I had to wait for that window to open (about 15 seconds on a Mac with an M2 Apple chip!!!), then I had to search through the whole list to find the appropriate Line 2 listing I wanted the cross-reference set to. So my question was about a way to fix it so that window (the one that opened after I clicked the + sign in the cross-reference panel) would show the style occurrences in some kind of order. (My hypothesis is that they’re in chronological order, i.e. the chronology of their placement in InDesign. Pffft…) Anyway, thanks for the original video. Once I was done with the cross-referencing, I had to add four new pages in the first part of the book, and four additional new pages in another part of the book, and I basked in my tidy instant new page numbering.
Hi brother, your tutorial are really awesome. but I face problem to read your all style name and there work. If you make this little big so it can be more readable. I request you to make a full table, cell and paragraph style on your tutorial and show us. Thanks
Hi, thank you. Yes it's a good point I've been considering maybe trying some Windows scaling when recording. Thanks I'll add that to the list. If you want a brief look at table styles however I looked at that in my import from excel video.
Hi, I'm assuming you mean index markers? (Otherwise I don't know) I'm not sure exactly how you would like the index but you could in the menu I show at 2:36 add a static number/letter to the cross reference format to act as an index. E.g. "1. on page "
Clear and straight to the point, thank you!
Thank you, that's what I aim for, so really happy to hear that
Hay bro, i am from Egypt and find your tutorial are really awesome. thank u for that pls keep going.
Thank you, happy to hear it, yes I'm working on a new video which should be out soon.
OMG thank you!! This was driving me bonkers yesterday... couldn't figure how to get rid of the quotation marks.
Glad I could help, cheers.
Great tutorial, sir
Thank you, glad you liked it.
Very helpful, thanks mate

Hey, CC Pipe,
Thanks for the careful follow up. That wasn’t my question.
I don’t think you can help, but here's a simple description of my issue.
I created a 175-page book of word puzzles. I needed to setup cross-references for:
Problem xxxxxx. See solution p. [?]
and
Solution for problem xxxxxx on p. [?]
The problem was that, since I knew absolutely nothing about cross-references and how to set them when I first started working on creating the book, the style I’d called Line 2, and that I’d used for the lines “Problem xxxxxx. See solution p. [?]” and for the lines “Solution for problem xxxxxx on p. [?],” was used in many other locations in the book as well.

Hi is there a way to add index makers in cross reference?
Hi, I'm assuming you mean index markers? (Otherwise I don't know) I'm not sure exactly how you would like the index but you could in the menu I show at 2:36 add a static number/letter to the cross reference format to act as an index. E.g. "1. on page "
Thanks a lot let me try i well get back to you
