Who’s up for an Audi electric vs diesel drag race?! We’re pitting the new Audi e-tron against the Q7!
On the face of it you might think this’ll be an easy walkover for the all-electric e-tron, given it can put its power down instantly. But this is no normal Q7 it’s lining up against… Released in 2009, this diesel-powered SUV is packing an absolutely huge 6-litre V12 which produces 500hp & 1,000Nm of torque!
As a result, this Q7 produces more power than the e-tron. Even with two electric motors underneath, the EV Audi can produce 405hp & 664Nm. Think it’s game over for the e-tron? Well we haven't told you about the weight yet! Even though the e-tron may tip the scales at 2,445kg, it’s still the lightest car here… With the Q7 weighing 2,635kg!!

diesel cant go above 4-5k rpm because the diesel needs beefier engine

audi dcts are not strong enough for that engine and will make it last less that 100k km overall, like 50k km less that what they can now

@@the-boring-car-guy That too. It's because of It's Quad Turbo unreliability, where one or two of the turbos stop working out of nowhere without warning, and It'll be expensive to service. But to me, the Q7 is still the most complicated.
Yes, beside the V10 Toureg. Both this and the Toureg would whoop the e-tron in offroading and towing though. Also top speed and range. Those things are great and I want one😍

The braking on the q7 is quite impressive considering that it's heavier and pretty old...
considering that ceramic brakes perform their best after warming them up. This is impressive. Do a fast Lap to bring them up to temp and retry. Should easily beat the etron.

Yes, and each brand was still true to it's heritage, Mercedes with the big Muscle V8 6.2 and twin-turbo V12s, BMW with high revs flat plane V8s and V10s, Audi playing with V10 from Lamborghini and V12 diesels, VW with W8 (Passat) W12 (Touareg).
Nowadays every single one of them has a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 with ZF transmission, it’s quite boring actually (but efficient).

Yeah during that time they put a Lamborghini V10 in the C6 RS 6 and then a V12 diesel in that thing~ I mean 500 HP and over 730 lb-ft of torque was nuts~ That diesel engine in that Q7 does have some good low end torque, so it is very fast for its age.

I'm a big Diesel fan but I didn't expect this, with a modern gearbox this thing is mental. And they get like 15l/100km (15,681 MPG). Not bad for such a big vehicle with massive towing capacity!

These v12 were relatively untuned as stock
With a little work and nous I’ve had two that are 1350 Nm and 690HP. What holds them .back is the six speed gear box. Shame they didn’t have the 8 speed used in later Q7s and the A8 mounted with the 4.2 V8.
Still with 1350nm I leave the sq7s for dead in a straight line

@@seanrommel7535 What you smell is sulphur from poor quality diesel. Good diesel will have less sulphur content. While it's true that diesel's produce more soot and visible pollution, petrol's actually produce more dangerous "invisible" emissions. As for electric, it's the most hidden, some few hundred miles away, a chimney full of smoke from a coal/gas power plant is doing the trick.
