I'm gay, and I've been doing my best to draw closer to Christ, I want to be delivered completely from homosexuality, I didn't want to be gay, I grew up in a very manly household with a strong, good, loving dad and brothers, but I was sexually abused as a child by older males that lived close to me in our neighborhood, and that's what took my manhood, and I only admitted this to a few of my brothers and family members. But every gay guy I have known in the past as a good friend openly admitted that they too were sexually abused as a child, because i admitted it first to them, I've yet to meet any gay man who wasn't sexually abused as a child. I want Jesus to heal me of my homosexuality , but at the same time I feel I haven't surrendered my life completely to Jesus though, so I ask that you all pray for me in regards to that, It's so hard for me right now, I'm just being honest, thank you, God bless

@ hey, i just wanted to imform you of the fact that most of those laws were man-made. People of the past had very different ways of dealing with people who did things that were considered wrong by law at the time. Even Jesus himself said to a group of men who wanted to stone a woman. "Whoever has not sinned may cast the first stone." Nobody could do it because he was basically telling them that they had no right to condemn her for a mistake. He instead forgave her and said go and sin no more. I do hope and pray that God reveals his true nature to you someday. Not the evil ideology that people of today twist the bible into. God bless!

Rusty, don't be jealous that Becket Cook surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and is pursuing righteousness and holiness unto God. Whose report would you believe, the report of the Lord (who is mighty to save and deliver) or the report of those ex-gay ministries? Some of those men's salvation may have been half baked and did not desire to diligently pursue sanctification and maintain total dependence on God. Why don't you consider giving your life to Jesus Christ? There is no time to waste. You have heard Becket's life changing testimony and do not let it stand against you when you stand before God on the day of judgement. God loves you.
The real question is why are so many straight Christians so happy about what Becket has to say (some of you are practically giddy) about homosexuality? Really look at that. The Church has this unhealthy obsession with homosexuality, they can't seem to get enough of it. I've seen plenty of CZcams vids of people giving their testimony on everything from God helping them overcome lust to the topic of adultery, struggles that affect YOU straight Christians, but you people could care less about those testimonies as evidenced in the comments section. You sure do pack the comments with these supposed "ex-gays" testimonies though. It's just this weird thing I've observed.
God set me free from the gay lifestyle 10 years ago. I was severely hooked on it but was never satisfied with it. Always trying to find relationships and hookups all the time. Plus I was a major alcoholic. I became a Christian at age 5 but fell away after high school. God had mercy on me.

@ Totally! My dad (a fundamentalist preacher) always said the KJV was "the authorized version" like some how God had authorized it. LOL! The only person who authorized it was King James and he was a pervert. It's a fact of history. What counts is how you live and this man is doing his best to be obedient. If you can say that, then that is enough.

Hopefully he will not get condemned and feel condemned if he does fall just gets back up and goes on with his life. He has said previously he does feel tempted but it went from 100% about thinking sex all the time 2 after he got saved if 10% and the longer he walks with the Lord it gets less and less. The more I hear this humble, gentle, funny, and transparent man speak, the more I Love Him. I am so grateful that this University hosted him. The Holy Spirit can do so much through him to open eyes and hearts in the gay culture. May God continue to bless him on this mission.
Thank you Mr. Cook! I happened upon this "by accident. " My son who just turned 20 and was brought up in a Christian home came out to me as gay the day before he graduated high school. I KNOW he knows the truth. Saddened by it all but I love my boy and will never stop praying for Jesus to reveal himself to him in a very personal way. Your testimony gives me hope and a newfound resolve in trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit!

Always always keep your door open for your son, but never turn your back on the truth of the Word and what it says about sin. I ve seen so many parents fold under the pressure and do more damage to their kids and the possibility of them coming to the Lord. God bless you, keep up the fight for him.
Have Faith & don't punish or fight with him. My parents showed love but prayed and set boundaries... Even in other homes where sexuality wasn't in question, folks have no boundaries but let their children drink, smoke and break all type of moral and spiritual laws... In other words, keep your home from being a house of ill repute just because a child is defiant... Keep standards high: no sleepovers, no gay dating, family rituals involving Christ and wholesome engaging... GOD still reigns and remind your child that Jesus is yet a loving Savior.

I love the way this guy speaks. Most people today think so negatively about Jesus and how people think he is extremely judgemental. But if you truly know him, then everything in this live is WORTH giving up!
The fact that one's sexuality is not your identity is so true. We live in a sexually obsessed world that tells us that being sexually active isthe end all and be all. Having a relationship with Jesus is the end all and be all.
Being children of God, re-united w/ our creator through Jesus is our ultimate identity. The devil has instigated this culture shift of sexuality being your identity, if you are gay. If you are hetero though, be quiet about it or you're not gay affirming and surely homophobic. So the trick of convincing gay people that is their identity is a slight of hand, and doesn't even make sense if not applied to everyone.

I loved how he spoke with authenticity and imperfections. He didnt have a perfect flow or cadence but spoke so truly and it spoke to me so clearly and so unlike people who are orators like many big “popular” preachers who I often feel are just sugar coating the gospel and doing feel good, be prosperous, be popular etc Christianity. The real gospel tell us what he said. Our hearts are wicked. Our good deeds are like filthy rags. We aren’t “good at heart” or “ good people”. We are all sinners saved by grace alone. But the spirit of a man or woman can never be brought into a relationship with Christ, while the flesh is gratified to even the point of decadence. God Bless You my Awesome Brother in Christ! I came out of the same lifestyle several years ago as well. It was such a struggle for me. Also dealing with it in context of it being an absolute sexual & pornography addiction. Then when getting heavily into drug use to self medicate & numb myself to the depravity of my life. After coming to Christ, I was so on fire for the Lord and tried so hard to overcome it all. I had even been Spirit Filled and Received the gift of speaking in tongues. However, for me, I felt I had to be 100% perfect in my walk. So, when really severe Temptations would present themselves right before my eyes or I would awake from a extreme sexual dream and fall, I would often go down so fast, condemn myself, hate myself and if I couldn't get it together would just excuse myself from the Lord's presence and even go back to drugs or drink a lot and even a few times attempted suicide. Then after being diagnosed with Cancer about 5 years ago and being turned over to Hospice as when it began affecting my heart and so many other things, I felt as if I'd won the lottery, considering that I would surely be able to keep myself in check until I died. Then one day in my bathroom while suffering with severe pain and having become a virtual shut-in due to then social anxiety, and going from basically an athlete and distance runner to a near skeleton of my former self, I found myself outside of my own body. I would pretty much always go immediately into Praise & Worship all by myself shut up in the bathroom. It was almost like my Prayer Closet and the Atmosphere had become so Transformed with the Presence and Nearness of God. The wall in front of me and the ceiling right above my head where I suddenly found myself was Radiating with Pure Light, Warmth & Peace like I'd never known. It was radiating through every molecule of the fabric of the Ceiling and Wall. Then I looked back over my right shoulder and saw my body leaned back, so perfect, so still and peaceful. Then I saw a thick Amber colored substance on my Shoulders and Upper Arms. I heard no voice(s) but immediately knew what I was seeing was all of the years & the weight of severe Pain & Fear I had been carrying pretty much all of my life. Then, instantly I saw the Amber Sap like substance begin to turn into tiny, tiny bubbles like Alkeseltzer bubbles and dissipate in to the air as it lifted. Then it was gone. Many years ago, I had heard the Lord speak audibly to me when I was so overwhelmed with fear, just before I had even come to the Lord. I somehow knew to say, "God! I can't take this! It's too much to bear!" Just then, I heard Him speak to my right and say in the most Powerful yet comforting voice. "I WILL NEVER SUFFER YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN BEAR". So, I realized that He was still, right then keeping that Promise. The pain and the Fear had finally become so much Greater than my Praise & Worship could rise above, so He literally removed me from both. The Pain & the Fear, so He could show me that He was taking it away. Just then I said, "Without actually speaking it from my Spirit Body, but just as if I could hear it, "I've got to see how That Feels". Then I was back, and it took me a bit to come back to my complete senses but knew I was back, still weak, but no fear & no pain. Then a few days or so later, still with the Heart Machine and everything I had to have since I was still refusing to let the Hospice Nurse move in, I was in the Bathroom getting myself together to go to the VA Hospital in Dallas for Labs, to Chemo/Oncology, etc., to have them gripe at me some more. : ) But, while looking in my Bathroom mirror I heard the Lord say, "You will Live & Not Die, to Proclaim my Glory & my Grace to many!" So solemn & yet so peaceful. I had to go right then to make it in time, and found myself thinking surely that was just me somehow trying to think the best, despite honestly hoping nothing had changed, so I could still go Victoriously to Heaven Soon! It took them so long to even call me in hours after all of the tests. Finally the same almost mean spirited female Doctor as always called me back into her office. She wasn't saying anything, just looking at all of my info, the numbers, the test results as if trying to find something negative to report. Finally she just shook her head halfway toward me and said, "I don't know What's going on, But We can't find "Anything, Anywhere"! Immediately the Holy Spirit restated that I was going to Live & Not Die. Honestly, I was very worried about having to Live again, and chance Hurting the Lord or ever falling away again. However, something has changed. Basically, as with you, it seemed the Lord just opened up every part of me and transformed me in such a deep, powerful way with such Compassion & Intimacy! For months I would wake up and sense His Love all around me, as if He was right there waiting for me to wake up, so He should rejoice over me, and share His Love for me. It was like something you eluded to about relationships you or one would be in, and being so in Love with them, it was virtually impossible to do anything to hurt them. Like you are so Addicted to their Love & Tenderness toward you that you knew you couldn't do anything at all to chance Losing that All Consuming Love that you never realized or understood you could or would ever find or have. Now, like you, I/We know the Depth of the Secret of truly being Secured in the Christian Life & Walk! It's simple yet at the same time so Very Profound! "It's all about, Falling Totally in Love with God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit. Saying No to self "In & With His Strength" and Yes to Him automatically. Also, feeding daily & continually on His Word, allowing Him, and the Holy Spirit to Totally Wash & Renew Us Daily in & with the Word & Power of the Explosive, Life Changing Power & Revelation of His Word! I am So looking forward to seeing you in Heaven soon my Brother! Love you with the Love of the Lord & am so Proud of You in your walk "In Him"!

Even though I grew up in a Christian home, I also was not very fond of Christianity because of unwelcoming treatment from ‘Christians’ and people who went to church. Glory to God for Cook's life and testimony. Salvation doesn't mean that you have to be alone for the rest of your life. God our creator is the one who gave us desires and feelings but we have corrupted those desires and feelings. My prayer for you is that God writes your love story. That you find a woman whom you can enjoy life with without guilt. A true union blessed and purposed by God because He alone knows and has the best plans for us better than we can ever dream of or imagine. Rusty Writer I don’t think Becket is saying that he no longer has same sex attractions. He confirms this at 37:32. I think he’s saying that he no longer pursues them in action because of his love for God and doesn’t identify as gay but may still have same sex attractions. That’s what saved people (sorry I’m not Christian so don’t know the right term) mean when they says they’re no longer gay.
Rusty Writer I don’t think he claimed anywhere to be asexual or heterosexual now. He’s not claiming that His faith has changed his orientation. Only the focus of his life is different now. Let him enjoy himself. If you’re right that there is no god then you and Becket have exactly the same fate in store. To both die and be forgotten by the universe. So let him be happy in his temporary faith.
You know what Becket has and had that is pretty rare these days, is humility. He knew and knows, that he didn't have all the answers or know everything and had an open mind and heart. Like SO many people who have met Jesus, the common denominator is that they were looking for truth and are willing to be wrong about what they "think". That's when God can come in. Not when people are full of themselves.
I don't think he loathes himself. I think he sees himself wrapped in Jesus' righteousness and he's learning to see himself as he believes Jesus sees him. As a gay may myself, I'm happy for him for finding what he needs according to his faith. I don't know his full story but I have read some of his book and I tend to believe that he was never gay in the true natural sense like someone who is a natural born eunuch. Natural eunuchs are not castrated. They have their genitalia. Jesus speaks of them in Matthew chapter 19:12 and distinguishes them from eunuchs who are castrated (man made eunuchs). Anyway, my point is that his child abuse is what manifested this in him. I don't' understand why he doesn't like women now since he was supposedly attracted to the women in the Playboy magazine, but I'm not supposed to know everything. I'm not God. Maybe he is gay but he's just living that life where some in Christianity like to speak things one way, implying they're not one thing (when they are) but saying they're not is their way of 'speaking it as if it were already so'. Or, maybe he has said he's a gay man but a celibate gay man. I have not seen or read all of the sources where he has been interviewed, wrote something etc. so he may have said something like that. Nonetheless, I doubt he loathes himself.

I have known a similar kind of faith that have saved me many times in my journey ...We do get distracted during different stages in life but we could always come back to Jesus. God's essence within us will rescue us and keeps on leading the path. Some of us could open our consciousness to follow while others could keep on getting distracted. It gets to a point in life when you no longer wants distractions because the connection with Him grows so much that we no longer needs other things but to feel Gods love through Jesus. I too could relate to your tears because when I had my conversion to The Lord after seeking Him and being involved in the occult I was convicted by The Holy Spirit and could see my wretchedness against Jesus’ Perfect Love and Mercy and cried copious tears. I love your quoting St Paul and agree wholeheartedly and if I may add when Paul was lamenting of his sufferings, things going wrong Jesus said to him “My grace is sufficient for you.” I love that you realise (and it concerns me greatly that some Protestant Christians do not realise this) that being redeemed by The Lord does not give you free licence to do as you please, follow your heart as you say as we are born in original sin and need to live within the commandments always seeking forgiveness in contrition if we fall and God’s grace. Otherwise the world would be in more chaos than it already is. Also if people were to die unrepentant in a state of mortal sin there is no hope of heaven even after conversion. The Bible is clear on this.

Becket definitely has found the true Saviour because he recognises how it was unfair that Jesus Christ, being sinless, have been sacrificed for all our sins on that cruel cross. Much of the world, though unbelieving in God, points a finger at God for all the suffering happening and not realise what God has done for us. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17

As someone who only recently came back to God's reality only a year ago, after 15 years of wandering in the desert, I think we as evangelicals need to talk just as much about having abundant life now - as we talk about having eternal life in the future. I LOVE this testimony! This is the exact reaction I had when I gave my life to Christ...totally blown away by the fact that I now have eternal life! And that I finally know God and Jesus! I also cry at the thought of it all for all these 26 years since I found Jesus! No matter what sin God has called us out of, the gratefulness we feel for now knowing Jesus and truth and for Jesus paying the price for our sins is so utterly amazing! I was born into a Christian family and saved at the age of 5. Though my salvation "experience" was special to me I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a salvation experience like Beckett.

I'm gay, and I've been doing my best to draw closer to Christ, I want to be delivered completely from homosexuality, I didn't want to be gay, I grew up in a very manly household with a strong, good, loving dad and brothers, but I was sexually abused as a child by older males that lived close to me in our neighborhood, and that's what took my manhood, and I only admitted this to a few of my brothers and family members. But every gay guy I have known in the past as a good friend openly admitted that they too were sexually abused as a child, because i admitted it first to them, I've yet to meet any gay man who wasn't sexually abused as a child. I want Jesus to heal me of my homosexuality , but at the same time I feel I haven't surrendered my life completely to Jesus though, so I ask that you all pray for me in regards to that, It's so hard for me right now, I'm just being honest, thank you, God bless

@ hey, i just wanted to imform you of the fact that most of those laws were man-made. People of the past had very different ways of dealing with people who did things that were considered wrong by law at the time. Even Jesus himself said to a group of men who wanted to stone a woman. "Whoever has not sinned may cast the first stone." Nobody could do it because he was basically telling them that they had no right to condemn her for a mistake. Whose report would you believe, the report of the Lord (who is mighty to save and deliver) or the report of those ex-gay ministries? Some of those men's salvation may have been half baked and did not desire to diligently pursue sanctification and maintain total dependence on God.
Why don't you consider giving your life to Jesus Christ? There is no time to waste. You have heard Becket's life changing testimony and do not let it stand against you when you stand before God on the day of judgement. God loves you.

The real question is why are so many straight Christians so happy about what Becket has to say (some of you are practically giddy) about homosexuality? Really look at that. The Church has this unhealthy obsession with homosexuality, they can't seem to get enough of it. I've seen plenty of CZcams vids of people giving their testimony on everything from God helping them overcome lust to the topic of adultery, struggles that affect YOU straight Christians, but you people could care less about those testimonies as evidenced in the comments section. You sure do pack the comments with these supposed "ex-gays" testimonies though. It's just this weird thing I've observed.
God set me free from the gay lifestyle 10 years ago. I was severely hooked on it but was never satisfied with it. Always trying to find relationships and hookups all the time. Plus I was a major alcoholic. I became a Christian at age 5 but fell away after high school. God had mercy on me.

I KNOW he knows the truth. Saddened by it all but I love my boy and will never stop praying for Jesus to reveal himself to him in a very personal way. Always always keep your door open for your son, but never turn your back on the truth of the Word and what it says about sin. Have Faith & don't punish or fight with him. My parents showed love but prayed and set boundaries... Even in other homes where sexuality wasn't in question, folks have no boundaries but let their children drink, smoke and break all type of moral and spiritual laws... Keep standards high: no sleepovers, no gay dating, family rituals involving Christ and wholesome engaging... GOD still reigns and remind your child that Jesus is yet a loving Savior.

I love the way this guy speaks. Most people today think so negatively about Jesus and how people think he is extremely judgemental. But if you truly know him, then everything in this live is WORTH giving up!
The fact that one's sexuality is not your identity is so true. We live in a sexually obsessed world that tells us that being sexually active isthe end all and be all. Having a relationship with Jesus is the end all and be all.
Being children of God, re-united w/ our creator through Jesus is our ultimate identity. The devil has instigated this culture shift of sexuality being your identity, if you are gay. If you are hetero though, be quiet about it or you're not gay affirming and surely homophobic. So the trick of convincing gay people that is their identity is a slight of hand, and doesn't even make sense if not applied to everyone.

He didnt have a perfect flow or cadence but spoke so truly and it spoke to me so clearly and so unlike people who are orators like many big “popular” preachers who I often feel are just sugar coating the gospel and doing feel good, be prosperous, be popular etc Christianity. The real gospel tell us what he said. Our hearts are wicked. Our good deeds are like filthy rags. We aren’t “good at heart” or “ good people”. We are all sinners saved by grace alone. Thank you Jesus for Becket Cook and his literally being called out of a lifestyle that ultimately destroys even though for a season it gratifies the flesh in every way. But the spirit of a man or woman can never be brought into a relationship with Christ, while the flesh is gratified to even the point of decadence. I know what it is to be delivered from a horrible lifestyle. May the Lord continue to bless Becket as he falls in love with JESUS the Man who is the only Mediator between God and man. God Bless You my Awesome Brother in Christ! I came out of the same lifestyle several years ago as well. It was such a struggle for me. Also dealing with it in context of it being an absolute sexual & pornography addiction. Then when getting heavily into drug use to self medicate & numb myself to the depravity of my life. After coming to Christ, I was so on fire for the Lord and tried so hard to overcome it all. I had even been Spirit Filled and Received the gift of speaking in tongues. However, for me, I felt I had to be 100% perfect in my walk. So, when really severe Temptations would present themselves right before my eyes or I would awake from a extreme sexual dream and fall, I would often go down so fast, condemn myself, hate myself and if I couldn't get it together would just excuse myself from the Lord's presence and even go back to drugs or drink a lot and even a few times attempted suicide. Then after being diagnosed with Cancer about 5 years ago and being turned over to Hospice as when it began affecting my heart and so many other things, I felt as if I'd won the lottery, considering that I would surely be able to keep myself in check until I died. Then one day in my bathroom while suffering with severe pain and having become a virtual shut-in due to then social anxiety, and going from basically an athlete and distance runner to a near skeleton of my former self, I found myself outside of my own body. I would pretty much always go immediately into Praise & Worship all by myself shut up in the bathroom. It was almost like my Prayer Closet and the Atmosphere had become so Transformed with the Presence and Nearness of God. The wall in front of me and the ceiling right above my head where I suddenly found myself was Radiating with Pure Light, Warmth & Peace like I'd never known. It was radiating through every molecule of the fabric of the Ceiling and Wall. Then I looked back over my right shoulder and saw my body leaned back, so perfect, so still and peaceful. Then I saw a thick Amber colored substance on my Shoulders and Upper Arms. I heard no voice(s) but immediately knew what I was seeing was all of the years & the weight of severe Pain & Fear I had been carrying pretty much all of my life. Then, instantly I saw the Amber Sap like substance begin to turn into tiny, tiny bubbles like Alkeseltzer bubbles and dissipate in to the air as it lifted. Then it was gone. Many years ago, I had heard the Lord speak audibly to me when I was so overwhelmed with fear, just before I had even come to the Lord. I somehow knew to say, "God! I can't take this! It's too much to bear!" Just then, I heard Him speak to my right and say in the most Powerful yet comforting voice. "I WILL NEVER SUFFER YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN BEAR". So, I realized that He was still, right then keeping that Promise. The pain and the Fear had finally become so much Greater than my Praise & Worship could rise above, so He literally removed me from both. The Pain & the Fear, so He could show me that He was taking it away. Just then I said, "Without actually speaking it from my Spirit Body, but just as if I could hear it, "I've got to see how That Feels". Then I was back, and it took me a bit to come back to my complete senses but knew I was back, still weak, but no fear & no pain. Then a few days or so later, still with the Heart Machine and everything I had to have since I was still refusing to let the Hospice Nurse move in, I was in the Bathroom getting myself together to go to the VA Hospital in Dallas for Labs, to Chemo/Oncology, etc., to have them gripe at me some more. : ) But, while looking in my Bathroom mirror I heard the Lord say, "You will Live & Not Die, to Proclaim my Glory & my Grace to many!" So solemn & yet so peaceful. I had to go right then to make it in time, and found myself thinking surely that was just me somehow trying to think the best, despite honestly hoping nothing had changed, so I could still go Victoriously to Heaven Soon! It took them so long to even call me in hours after all of the tests. Finally the same almost mean spirited female Doctor as always called me back into her office. She wasn't saying anything, just looking at all of my info, the numbers, the test results as if trying to find something negative to report. Finally she just shook her head halfway toward me and said, "I don't know What's going on, But We can't find "Anything, Anywhere"! Immediately the Holy Spirit restated that I was going to Live & Not Die. Honestly, I was very worried about having to Live again, and chance Hurting the Lord or ever falling away again. However, something has changed. Basically, as with you, it seemed the Lord just opened up every part of me and transformed me in such a deep, powerful way with such Compassion & Intimacy! For months I would wake up and sense His Love all around me, as if He was right there waiting for me to wake up, so He should rejoice over me, and share His Love for me. It was like something you eluded to about relationships you or one would be in, and being so in Love with them, it was virtually impossible to do anything to hurt them. Like you are so Addicted to their Love & Tenderness toward you that you knew you couldn't do anything at all to chance Losing that All Consuming Love that you never realized or understood you could or would ever find or have. Now, like you, I/We know the Depth of the Secret of truly being Secured in the Christian Life & Walk! It's simple yet at the same time so Very Profound! "It's all about, Falling Totally in Love with God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit. Saying No to self "In & With His Strength" and Yes to Him automatically. Also, feeding daily & continually on His Word, allowing Him, and the Holy Spirit to Totally Wash & Renew Us Daily in & with the Word & Power of the Explosive, Life Changing Power & Revelation of His Word! I am So looking forward to seeing you in Heaven soon my Brother! Love you with the Love of the Lord & am so Proud of You in your walk "In Him"!

Glory to God for Cook's life and testimony. Salvation doesn't mean that you have to be alone for the rest of your life. God our creator is the one who gave us desires and feelings but we have corrupted those desires and feelings. My prayer for you is that God writes your love story. That you find a woman whom you can enjoy life with without guilt. A true union blessed and purposed by God because He alone knows and has the best plans for us better than we can ever dream of or imagine. Rusty Writer I don’t think Becket is saying that he no longer has same sex attractions. He confirms this at 37:32. I think he’s saying that he no longer pursues them in action because of his love for God and doesn’t identify as gay but may still have same sex attractions. That’s what saved people (sorry I’m not Christian so don’t know the right term) mean when they says they’re no longer gay.

Let him enjoy himself. If you’re right that there is no god then you and Becket have exactly the same fate in store. To both die and be forgotten by the universe. You know what Becket has and had that is pretty rare these days, is humility. He knew and knows, that he didn't have all the answers or know everything and had an open mind and heart. Like SO many people who have met Jesus, the common denominator is that they were looking for truth and are willing to be wrong about what they "think". That's when God can come in. Not when people are full of themselves.

I don't think he loathes himself. I think he sees himself wrapped in Jesus' righteousness and he's learning to see himself as he believes Jesus sees him. As a gay may myself, I'm happy for him for finding what he needs according to his faith. I don't know his full story but I have read some of his book and I tend to believe that he was never gay in the true natural sense like someone who is a natural born eunuch. Natural eunuchs are not castrated. They have their genitalia. Jesus speaks of them in Matthew chapter 19:12 and distinguishes them from eunuchs who are castrated (man made eunuchs). Anyway, my point is that his child abuse is what manifested this in him. I don't' understand why he doesn't like women now since he was supposedly attracted to the women in the Playboy magazine, but I'm not supposed to know everything. I'm not God. Maybe he is gay but he's just living that life where some in Christianity like to speak things one way, implying they're not one thing (when they are) but saying they're not is their way of 'speaking it as if it were already so'. Or, maybe he has said he's a gay man but a celibate gay man. I have not seen or read all of the sources where he has been interviewed, wrote something etc. so he may have said something like that. Nonetheless, I doubt he loathes himself.

I have known a similar kind of faith that have saved me many times in my journey ...We do get distracted during different stages in life but we could always come back to Jesus. God's essence within us will rescue us and keeps on leading the path. Some of us could open our consciousness to follow while others could keep on getting distracted. It gets to a point in life when you no longer wants distractions because the connection with Him grows so much that we no longer needs other things but to feel Gods love through Jesus. I too could relate to your tears because when I had my conversion to The Lord after seeking Him and being involved in the occult I was convicted by The Holy Spirit and could see my wretchedness against Jesus’ Perfect Love and Mercy and cried copious tears.
I love your quoting St Paul and agree wholeheartedly and if I may add when Paul was lamenting of his sufferings, things going wrong Jesus said to him “My grace is sufficient for you.”
I love that you realise (and it concerns me greatly that some Protestant Christians do not realise this) that being redeemed by The Lord does not give you free licence to do as you please, follow your heart as you say as we are born in original sin and need to live within the commandments always seeking forgiveness in contrition if we fall and God’s grace. Otherwise the world would be in more chaos than it already is. Also if people were to die unrepentant in a state of mortal sin there is no hope of heaven even after conversion. The Bible is clear on this.

Becket definitely has found the true Saviour because he recognises how it was unfair that Jesus Christ, being sinless, have been sacrificed for all our sins on that cruel cross. Much of the world, though unbelieving in God, points a finger at God for all the suffering happening and not realise what God has done for us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17
This is a powerful testimony Becket, thank you. As someone who only recently came back to God's reality only a year ago, after 15 years of wandering in the desert, I think we as evangelicals need to talk just as much about having abundant life now - as we talk about having eternal life in the future. I LOVE this testimony! This is the exact reaction I had when I gave my life to Christ...totally blown away by the fact that I now have eternal life! And that I finally know God and Jesus! I also cry at the thought of it all for all these 26 years since I found Jesus! No matter what sin God has called us out of, the gratefulness we feel for now knowing Jesus and truth and for Jesus paying the price for our sins is so utterly amazing! God bless Beckett as he shares his testimony for others to be inspired by! And it also goes to show that everyone is different in what their deep heartfelt needs are and how they react to the gospel. Because of those Christians having Bible study at the coffee shop, Beckett came to Christ! So, God help us as we just "cast our bread upon the water...for we do not know which will prosper, this or that" Ecclesiastes 11.

The experience that Beckett had, was an experience that God knew he needed it. Nevertheless, confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and believing in your heart that Christ has raised him from the dead you will be saved. The Holy Spirit experience can also come at anytime, but what really helps, is staying in prayer and praising and worshipping God, and believe me, I am a witness, the Holy spirit will overtake you and the Spirit is nothing like anything in this world. The Holy Spirit , which is a he, and not an it, is a gentle person, refreshing, much joy, much peace, much love, just out of this world and He's a presence that you want to stay in forever.

PhilGeissler: never be ashamed of your own salvation experience, because God intended for it to be the way it is. One person will be moved by a rollercoaster testimony, never thinking God could save someone who dwelled so deep into worldly passions for so long. Another will be moved by a cleaner testimony, never thinking God could produce someone who could be understanding and respectable in character without needing the "experience" of starting out in a very un-christian world for so long. There must be a variety of testimonies because a variety of people need to see God's power of rescue , each in their own way that God knows.

Not MY WILL but THY WILL Oh Lord Jesus. True repentance is turning from those things that tempt you. Seeing the error of your ways. We all are a work in progress but when you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, He will strengthen you in your obedience. This blessed me today. Be encouraged brother.
