CRANBERRY COOKIES & WHISKEY BURGERS | Country Life Mom Vlog

LOYALIST COOKIES (Fresh Cranberry Cookies)
Favorite cookie sheets amzn.to/3sfFqyT
1\2 c. butter
3\4 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1\4 c. milk
2 T. orange juice
3 c. flour
1\2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1\4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts
2 1\2 c. halved fresh cranberries (frozen should work)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter and sugars together. Beat in milk, orange juice and egg. Sift together the four dry ingredients. Combine with the creamed mixture. Blend well. Stir in chopped nuts and coarsely chopped cranberries. Drop by Tbsp. on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Let cool for a minute on the pan. Let cool completely before storing. Eat within a couple days. They will get really soft from the moisture of the cranberries.
WHISKEY BURGER SAUCE
Cast Iron Skillet amzn.to/3HqEPAC
Sauté 1-2 onions in plenty of butter. Add up to 1\2 c. whiskey. Let it steam and bubble for about 1 minute. Then add in up to 1 cup BBQ sauce and diced jalapenos. Heat thoroughly and top burgers with sauce and a slice of cheddar cheese.

My 10 yo son has never lived in a home with a microwave. We got rid of ours sometime when my 15 yo was still a toddler. I don’t miss it. You learn how to warm up leftovers in other ways. An air fryer, a toaster oven, and a skillet or pot on the stove meet my needs just fine.

All that you made, looked absolutely delicious, but especially those burgers and fries! I honestly don’t know how you get up at 5:00 a.m. and keep going like you do all day! You are amazing! And you got all that laundry done! I need your energy! I do like to get up early though and have that quiet time before everyone else wakes! I can get so much more done! I love how you read aloud to the kids! I used to do that with my kids too! Now they are all grown!

Another cookbook....yay! The whiskey burgers looked delicious. I'll be using my air fryer tonight to 'grill' some burgers and a small amount of fries. Maybe it would be a good idea to get some caramelized onions out of the deep freeze for the burgers, wish I had some whiskey to add to the toppings. Thank you for sharing your day and glad you had a peaceful evening and got all the laundry done. That is such a nice feeling!

Julia Child would hand her potential chefs and onion and if they didn't cut the onion as you do lengthwise they were instantly fired she just she had a thing about cutting an onion a certain way so you would have made it on Julia child's list of people who excell.

Yes. One time I used a really thin setting on my mandolin to make quick work of slicing up a bunch of onions. They basically melted in the saute pan which is definitely not what I was going for. I prefer chunkier pieces of cooked onion.
I knew you all would know what I meant. It really does make a difference how something is cut.

Hello from Winnipeg, Manitoba! I just love watching your channel. It is very comforting and helps me relax after busy days! I feel like you are my kitchen kindred spirit as I cook just like you do. Some of your tips and tricks are old favourites of mine too. I also noticed the irritating thing about the baking powder lids and a quick trick I used was just to put a tight piece of tape across the top. Works like a charm!
We have been microwave free since March of 21 when we got sick. We are to the point we don't miss it at all. Everything looked so tasty!

Who knew just adding whiskey and caramelized onions (left out the jalapenos because of the littles) to BBQ sauce would change and make the flavor so amazing! Thank you!

So much house work. It was nice that my kids learned to do their own laundry by ten. They had the weekend to git it done and put up,not always done as I would have but one last job for this momma.
I used math to teach my son to cook and he is now 42 and is always trying to out cook me and out bbq his Dad. My daughter doesn't really like to cook but since she's on her own she does well on the things she knows how to cook.
If your children do cook it would be nice to see them do so. I know some kids my watch with their parents and get the cooking bug.
As you work on your second cookbook kids can know they are helping by doing inside chores.

I know it is probably mentioned in these comments somewhere, but I kept a swanky brand of baking powder can, and just keep refilling it with the cheaper brand! It has the side scraper and I love it!

You sound just like me talking about kitchen gadgets. I always think I want a cookie scoop, but I'm with you-- I don't like "one hit wonders" in the kitchen. My sweet stepmom gave me one of those tools that peel and core a pineapple. I used it once or twice, then donated it.
I made meatloaf in the crockpot yesterday. It was great and stayed together in one piece. Also, wrapped some russet potatoes and nestled them around the loaf. Six hours later, voila! And it freed me up to do other chores and errands. Tonight, I'm thinking hot meatloaf sandwiches and instead of gravy, that onion-whiskey sauce might be delicious. @@tracegates8841 I used 85/15. Also, dry onion soup mix, parmesan and bread crumbs. I found that if I used fresh onions or anything too chunky, it fell apart.
