DotoDoya hey, ive been playing online for a while, and there are these little medals at the bottom of my playercard, and i kept getting more, but i dont know how ive done so. and now the medals have changed, can you enlighten me?
I could see this really helping newer players beat zoning as well as realize any good fighting game has ways to beat keep away, which is good knowledge to have if they branch out. For all the jokes we make at xenoverse players (and they're really funny), we should also remember how important it is to assist them. This game could be a great FGC gateway if we let it and do our part.
Thats the main goal of this channel! Every time I see a newcomer post something on a fourm or if they ask me personally in the comments about this game I try to make a video on that topic right away!

Zoning in this game is by far the easiest to beat of any fighting game ive played.
Yeah, they really wanted to make this game focused on rushdown. I feel like they did it in a natural way though.

I didn't personally have any issues dealing with zoning, but decided to watch the video anyways, and boy howdy I'm glad I did. I have been on the hunt for the input required to instant transmition without being locked into using a heavy attack. I know you just mentioned it in passing, but that's the part of the video that really helped me. Now my combos can be better than ever! (situationally that is) Great video btw, very beginner friendly and well structured. Keep it up!

That was a really good video, I think DBFighterZ is a great chance to get a bunch of people into fighting games since the basics are there but the combos aren't hard. The one thing though is that I wish you had showed the tactics you talked about working out, at least one or two of them. Thanks!

Zoning is easy to deal with in this game. But if your opponent is easily frustrated, it's a great tool.
in still learning as well I'm trying matches against players stronger than myself hoping to improve my down heavy reactions

I feel like Doto’s voice is different from this video to now..
Zoning and spamming are technically the same thing.. only difference is one type is because its being done on purpose because thats the game plan for range strategy.
You can spam ki waves mindlessly, but you can also spam ki waves legitimately to get your opponent to screw up.. Both doing the same thing, ultimately for two separate reasons or perception.
With that said, spamming is only zoning when that player actually knows what they are doing while they are spamming in the game rather than just doing 'something' ..
So as long as you're intentionally doing the same move over and over again as a legitimate strategy, its okay to spam.. I mean Zone! my bad lol
P.S. with that said, if someone feels like the only thing that'd work for them is spamming ki waves to keep an aggressive opponent at a distance.. because they suck at dealing with mixups, then its a legitimate strategy. A poor strategy, but a strategy nonetheless.
With that said, I dont really see anything be called SPAM .. using a projectile over and over again is just zoning all around.
Whether the player is doing it because its hard for the opponent to deal with defensively, which would make it a legitimate strat cuz its intentional..
or whether its to keep an opponent at bay, which is also a legitimate reason.. No matter the exact reason, as long as its actually a strategy (even if its a poor strat) its zoning.. not spamming.
It stops becoming spam when its actually being done on purpose because of positive results coming from it.
Based off that logic they are more or less one in the same. If you're doing it because its working, and continuing to do it because of that.. its a strat, which means technically there is no spam.. even if you dont have another strategy lol.

one thing i feel about fighterz, every character has multiple anti zoning options,, reflect blocks, teleports, rushes if youre getting spammed heavy in this game all you have to do is practise

if you spam ki at first then 1 or 2 ki blasts after you can trick them into super dash for a good down Heavy counter
I can across a player spamming with Krillian whilst spamming with Tien and Goku SS as supports. Wasn't a moment that the screen wasn't filled with cross screen beams!

You can also use reflect and it will even work with supers and ultimates wich is pretty much an easy way to not take damage than jumping to avoid
This one kid I fought crouch blocked in the corner and attacked when I moved or attacked. Gogeta and Dragon Ball Z Broly had something to say about that. Also Ultra Instinct Goku walking forward.
I have a question, does spamming strategically count as noob spamming? Because I only spam combos vs CPUs when I make the opening to(because the CPU is trash and I wanted ssgss asap). However, I do a homing rush a lot, which I am working on fixing. I do know how to use combos at least.
Spamming moves doesn't make you a noob, but if you lose to a certain move and have no intention of learning how to beat it then you become one! Homing rush is strong but has it's fair share of weaknesses, I think you're fine!

DotoDoya Yeah, when the CPUs first started doing multi character specials, I would just freak out. Now I either block or dodge, but for the most part, avoiding the initial startup is always the best option. Ultimates though, I definitely need to work on.

I usually jump over and do a over head heavy into a combo or I simply jump and super dash into them while they are stuck in the beam pose. It always works for me

DotoDoya u forgot reflect its like parry in SF third strike and it can do supers if your good at it
when I fight spamming friezas I just reflect his rock attack and not the ki blast then when I get 7 bars then I start the pressure and make them fear the raw level 3.
My friend keeps yelling at me for using fireballs 3 times in a row for only one part of the match because he couldn't get around it. Boi have you ever heard of JUMPING?!

What do you do to someone if they only block
You can grab them, hit em with a low or overhead, cross them up , etc. Anything to beat what they are currently guarding.
I just made my entire A team full of people with counters. With Piccolo I go up and attack them while they're blocking then use his back special for a counter. Hit, because he has a lot of counters and mix up specials and Android 16 for the same reason and if it doesn't work out with 16 he still has an unblockable one shot

And all they do is use assist and wait to down heavy it’s annoying as shit to keep playing those type of players
Thats why mixups are a thing you make a situation where they have to block either low or high and force them to guess which attack you are going to do
To further clarify for fighting game beginners:
Zoning isn’t just keeping away. It’s keeping an opponent in an optimal position to punish when needed. In a “zone”.
Spamming can be done with any move, not just projectiles. It’s mindlessly repeating a move because a) it’s all you know. b) it works better than anything else you can do.
These can actually coincide with each other as well but these are the basic differences
Although spamming is frowned upon, it is a valid strategy. (I’m not a spammer I swear lol)

Xblade Xブレード Thats not running away, its the wisest thing to do. The more pissed you get the less you try to actually gain some skill to counter zoners and the more likely you are to just button mash and end up smashing your controller and hating the game

But dotadoya, how do I deal with zamasu's kamehameha grab? A player spammed it when we were both down to our last character and I couldn't do anything. If I jumped to attack him over head I'd get hit by the blast and I can't block because of the grab. What can I do?

Against spamming. Defense, dragon rush , teleport, just one jump dragon rush combo with a second jump and then switch your character or just switch your opponent character
Id honestly rather go with a reflect because the recovery on reflects is even better than blocking, allowing you to punish way easier
I had some guy zone me on the beta with Frieza/Vegeta since they have rapid ki blasts. The snap vanish is a life saver for getting rid of zoners, I think.
Good zoners will find a way, but the vanish will always be a powerful tool! (at least I hope so)
They do find a way, I know they do. The Goku level 3 is too spammable for zoners to some extent, too. But the one who zoned me easily got beaten because of the snap vanish. If anyone is able to take advantage of the snap vanish, it truly does help. Zoners are the reason I never went near Injustice, honestly.
I never got into Injustice either, I played one match against an aquaman player and never looked back. I know that goes against what I preach on this channel, but I wasn't really a fan of the game in general.
Aquaman is a horrible zoner with the tentacle and the trident throws. I watched enough matches to know how bad it is, and how there's no way to really counter it effectively. I don't think it really goes against what you have on our channel, as the game was just unbalanced in that sense.

Zoning is spacing. Spamming is something entirely different. I zone with Frieza. I use numerous attacks to zone. Death Saucers, next time you'll die, both of his heavies, and the earth breaker. Those are extremely effective and i mix up those options and rush in to start a combo then get away. Repeat the process

block low against the low kicks and reflect the overheads and if they grab you can just press any attack button and youll be able to break it!

Kermit Da Frog rush them with assists and zone them. Then they'll come to you and down heavy them.
the worst thing about this game is when you put a condition with at least 3 bars of connection and you wait like 30 to 40 minute to find one. so i choose anything goes and i always get 0 bars.

Ok so what do you do if you’re dealing with someone who spams ki blast like frieza/broly and you vanish to only knock them to the other side without getting a wall bounce and they end up doing it again? I wanna know a way to get through this but using my resources as wisely as possible. I dealt with frieza/beam spammers/broly ki spammers alot and whenever I do vanish, they’re able to recover and spam again before I can reach them from the side I vanished to knock them from
Ricky Literally super dash and you fly right through it. Press r2 on you controller and you'll fly right through basic ki attacks that require your opponent to press x. If they spam beams jump up high and superdash with r2. You can also can in your assists and may hit them.

Zoning and spamming are not same thing. You can spam a non projectile attack like the auto combos in this game.
Your correct, but the the thing a ton of people call zoning is people using beam type moves and staying away the entire match. That was the thing I wanted to address when I made this video.

There is no known way to punish that on block as of yet.

get the hell off my account xxe hey guys. Hopefully both of toy get this notification but I was talking about punishing it after block. I know how to down heavy their super dash before it hits but usually I can't react that fast so I usually just block. So I wanted something that could guaruntee a punish afterwords but I've actually learned that super dash is always 100% safe on block. So this meals we can only punish them if we block them and they try to immediately attack. If they block or if they back dash (I back dash after ny super dashes are blocked ALL the time now. Mostly with ginyu since I super dash with him the most. Using ginyu force to keep it relatively safe from down heavy attacks) then they are most likely going to be safe. Only way blocking after isnt safe is if they don't block low which is unlikely in my experience. So your best two options after blocking a super dash, if you know they'll attack after, is to either block their whole combo string and then punish that (Won't be easy with good players) OR to use a down heavy to interrupt their combo with your own combo. When you know they'll super dash and then block immediately after then try to punish with an immediate Dragon rush. Besides this I have found that push blocking is easier for me to do to counter super dashes than down heavy is for some reason.

I played my first online matches last night, and all the guy did was super dash. And then spam everything else. I wasn’t able to time his super dashes and he would even super dash directly in my face not even couple steps back. Right there face to face. It was horrible. How can I anticipate that
Its a matter of getting used to your opponent, so your strategy should change every match. Once you get used to that guys like that wont even stand a chance against you

I have a really good mic and audio interface! I also record in a place that is relatively quiet place which helps a ton!
DotoDoya yeah your voice has this clarity, you can hardly tell you're speaking into a mic. My Mic is a Black Yeti, but when I speak into it, it gives me this effect like I'm speaking through an old radio or something. I have no idea how to fix it.
Woah. Zoning isn’t spamming. Using it for no other reason than “it works”, is spamming.
Zoning is doing that with purpose.
