I have an actual use for this tone. My surround sound processor has a noise gate that cuts off sound when it detects silence, so when there are short pauses between people speaking, it cuts off part of the dialog. As far as I can tell, there is no way to turn it off. Playing this tone keeps the processor from cutting off the sound and I can barely hear the tone. Glad I finally thought to look for such a thing, but I am also kicking myself for not thinking of it earlier.
SAME! I hate that shit. Mine is just a Vizio soundbar but many videos do it. I usually leave the TV speakers on very low volume so I don't miss bits Usually just certain videos like Nilered.

I can actually hear this, when turn on/off, i can hear the changes of the sound. Normally we all hear the sound like 13-14khz when we covered both ears.
37 and I even tried 20khz and can hear it (in both ears). Real surprise as I ride motorcycles a lot and many times without earplugs and I really thought I damaged my ears already.
Also keep in mind guys, if you're turning your volume high to try and hear something, what you could possibly end up hearing is driver distortion, which will be some sort of harmonic tone that may fool you into believing you just heard a frequency out of your hearing range. I'm 36, I can't hear this tone until I max my volume, then I hear a bit of a hiss. It's probably noise being made by my phones speaker trying to replicate this tone at max volume. I'm just saying that there's a mechanical element to it and to really know for sure, the setup you're using matters as to whether you know for sure 🙏👍
At first I thought I couldn't hear it and had a painful ringing in my ear. I than turned off the sound, and turned it back on, and realized that was just the tone. It's barely noticeable, but it's there. I understand now what dogs must feel when they hear these tones.
You can play this through any Speaker you have. Id written it above, in Holland they use this spunds to keep kids away from the beaches and promenades at night
I was depressed i couldn't hear it on my phone speakers, but on my laptop i hear it loud and clear! Try other speakers if you're worried about your hearing
