- Hi and thank you for watching this video. In this episode I record the work I have done to start the scenic's on the new layout, as the area I need to work on is the furthest away and would be difficult to reach later on. Any constructive comments are very welcome, as are any tips or advice you may have for me.
Hi Steve, your right to bits at a time don’t rush it it’s very tempting to get it all done at once, looks good keep up the good work cheers al
Thanks Al. I'm in turtle mode at the moment, slow and steady!

Steve
Good progress there Steve. You are right that you need to pace the scenic work, and resit the temptation to touch anything that is drying. All looking good and I look forward to seeing the progress in the next video. Stephen
Thanks Stephen - its hard to resist the urge to do more than needed!

Greetings Steve 🐲 great to see you're still using the secret weapon 🤫 lemon 🍋 scented paper towel 👍 A beach scene 🏖 is certainly a good idea 💡 and looks fantastic with trains running behind 😎 I used Noch fine sand as the top laver with a soak of scenic cement 👍 you don't need that much either 😇 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️
I was going to ask you what "ingredients" you used to cook up that magic beach scene - cheers!

Hi Steve very brave to start scenic work already i would be just running the trains until i was totally satisfied now in all fairness you my be at that stage and if so spot on. It does change how it looks does doing a bit of scenery. Have a good week. Colin
Hi Colin - this time around each time I add scenery I have re run the locos to ensure they still run smoothly. I had to do the far corner as if I waited until all the tracks were down it would mean leaning over and on the third and forth track so felt it necessary to start there at this early stage. I am mindful of what you say - so am really making myself behave and only do what is needed for now.

Nice work there Steve, never thought of using cardboard strips to create the flat ground, every day is a school day.
Bob - it really was a spur of the moment thing - what can I do to flatten out that bit? oh yeah here's some cardboard - use it! sort of thing.

Steve
Hi Steve, nice work mate, really looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. Take your time there is no rush, cheers for now, John
Cheers John ..... certainly am taking my time. Each day I am running the locos around the tracks testing it, tweaking here and there.

Good progress being Made Steve. Scenery always starts to knit a layout together. Your doing the right thing in testing the gradient as you worked the Scenery around it. Nothing more annoying to do all the work and find the Scenery has altered the gradient and nothing will go up it. Cheers Euan
Yup - fell for that last time around.

Morning Steve! More great progress from you here! You'll have built two layouts by the time it's taken me to decide what code track I'm going to use! Lol! I'd continue to run trains up the inclines as you go, just in case the addition of scenery has moved the track slightly! Keep up the good work! All the best, Ian.
HI Ian - yes I am doing that and you were right it did alter the track slightly. Been running two trains continuously most of the day and fixing glitches before moving on.

Steve
Brilliant progress Steve going to bite the bullet and go double track so parts of the layout will be coming bk up once all the track sorted lol
Catch you soon matey
Sion
Wow that will be awesome Sion - I personally think it makes a more interesting layout but it all depends on your own preferences which is more important.
