  • I have finally managed to get four tracks down on the layout and 4 loco's running smoothly with no issues. I also demo how I put in my MP1 point motors in case anyone out there is struggling like I was.
    This episode is dedicated to my Mother in Law who passed away recently and was a great supporter of my hobby. R.I.P. Mum x

    My condolences to you and your wife on the loss of your mother in law. A lovely tribute in the running sessions. Very good to see that you have all four tracks running with no problems. A layout always looks good when you get more than two trains running. Look forward to seeing the scenic go on. Stephen

      Thank you Stephen - Got to admit I was nervous running all four but they all did well after weeks of checking and re checking the track. Really keen to see how you complete your cliff face as I will be undertaking one soon I think.
      Regards
      Steve

    Hi Steve! So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother in law. My condolences to you and your family. Four trains running? Wow! You can really see the track plan coming together, and the fact that you're already confident enough to run four trains shows that it works really well! Looking forward to seeing some scenics next! All the best, Ian.

      Cheers Ian - thanks you for the kind comment - the hobby has meant I can escape for a while and seek solace in the shed - it was the models she loved looking at so the scenics is going to be important for me.
      Regards
      Steve

      THank you Al. Yes, I must admit it all looks bare without a house or tree but now I can get on with all that as I run the locos.

      Thank you so much Chris for your kind words. I must admit I like the way it is now as it's far easier to get in and out of the shed as well as makes better running sessions.

    Sorry to hear about Doreen, nice song too. Looks like with those levels the world is your oyster for landscaping above and below the track, well done on the mile stone.

      THank you Chris - yes the different levels give me more scope than my first layout attempt.

    Hi Steve - sorry for your loss and condolences to you and family.
    Great progress on the layout and brilliant running four trains simultaneously. Those point motors - do they automatically switch the frog polarity on electrofrogs ? Very enjoyable update. Cheers Euan

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thank you Euan - the answer to your question is yes, the switch can be used to switch polarity, but I'm using insulfrogs so don't need them for that - the idea is I can use them to switch some signal lights over but I haven't tried it out yet.
      Check out @DCCtrainautomation for better information. James is always willing to help.

    Hi just a quick one how do you clean your track at the back or if you had derailment at back or can you reach over to the back

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi Dave - I use a rail cleaning pad which I can just about reach with, plus once a month I use Isopropelyne on some soft rubber. The widest point of the layout is just under 3ft so I can just about stretch over and reach the back rails (if I breathe in and tuck the belly in!)
      Regards
      Steve

      @@lynganddistrict hahahaha if you tuck the belly in . I’ve taken my layout down it was in loft as moving took me ages being 18. Ft long but only 2 ft wide so could easy reach across so next time will be wider
