In a interview of his son,when he was way older, he stated that he felt he was coming in between his mother and father.He said that Eleanore Powell was so devoted to him that she ignored his father .He felt this might of been the influence for Glen to focus on other women .
I always liked Glen Ford. He was my mom's favorite actor. Back in the late 60s, I met Peter when he and I were in a fledgling rock group with Peter Lewis. I liked Peter Ford. He was a nice guy. He soon dropped out of the group, and eventually, so did I.
Glenn Ford was nice in a boy-next-door type. He personified goodness and innocence. But looks can be deceiving. Who knows whether he knocked up Rita Hayworth or not. They're both dead and can't speak for themselves. But what the heck, they made three glorious, lust-filled movies together - Gilda, The Loves of Carmen and An affair in Trinidad. Being thrown together in all those intimate scenes, Glen and Rita didn't know when the kissing had to stop and one thing led to another and the deed was done. Most of us go through life that offers moments of sheer bliss and we succumb to the pleasure of the moment. No regrets. It wasn't permanent, but just transient.

Never found Ford to be a good actor always changed the channel when his movies were on.
I never saw what his appeal was either. In fact he had something of a "Simeon-like" appearance, more of a Character Actor rather than the Leading Man type. He'd have been a natural for PLANET OF THE APES, however.
