- Arkham Knight's tapes vary so wildly in quality and importance it's honestly ridiculous. Sometimes you have the least consequential tapes imaginable that tell you absolutely nothing, and sometimes you have the most hard-hitting ones of the franchise that leave you bawling. Let's figure out which ones are which as I explain details most of you probably never heard of.

Nice to see someone finally cover these tapes since people basically forget they exist.
Fr man
Tbh I only found the knight ones interesting, the others were meh
Yeah
Yes
saw a comment on the community post saying “I didn’t know this game had audio tapes”
Honestly riddler’s are so interesting to me because they show how far Edward’s willing to go. From our understanding he and Selina actually had a working relationship that through her dialogue in game we have was actually pretty understanding. Instead Edward gets so desperate he basically throws out one of the FEW positive things going for him
Damn, that's interesting
I REALLY hate to be that guy, but you're misreading the tapes about Blackfire. In the comics (Pre-52) Blackfire was heavily implied to have actually been immortal, being already a 100 years old by the time of his story (Batman: The Cult), with his supposed backstory being that he was a Native American shaman who discovered the secret of eternal youth by bathing in human blood and was entombed alive in a cave by his tribe after killing their chief and comitting heresy. That's what the cave under Liberty Island and the prints from the 20s were actually referencing, although I don't blame you at all for not knowing any of that.
Bro u know your batman facts I didn't know that either.. learn something new everday
Thank you I came here to say the same thing, but it would not have been as succinct as this. I still have hope that someday ol' Clownpuncher will actually read a comic book.
I mean I 100% believe you but I am gonna argue its different canons. It is implied in this universe too but another universes comic doesnt mean its also the case here
@@Nono-hk3isI know I really like his vids but it’s sad seeing he isn’t as knowledgeable as I hope he’d be
I didn't know the comic lore, but even I was able to see the implication from the tapes that he was really immortal. Guess Clownpuncher just isn't great at picking up subtext.
My understanding of Blackfire’s tapes was that he really did have some sort of supernatural immortality. I may be remembering it wrong, but I think that’s what happened in the comics. I think they were hinting towards the idea that Blackfire really may be immortal.
He was just exposed to lazarus
So yes he was immortal but not for his reason
@@spenceryates9741How do you know it was Lazarus?
@@kreischenderdepp113 I know it’s confirmed somewhere but the cave he was stuck inside was said to have Lazarus inside of it
@@spenceryates9741 Do you mean in general or just in the Arkhamverse?
@@kreischenderdepp113 I’m not sure if it’s in general so I’m just referring to the Arkham verse
Imagine if instead of the side of Jason where he still cares about the others being relegated purely to the tapes, we saw him react extremely violently after Scarecrow throws Barb from the roof.
Hell, have Batman confront Scarecrow differently after the fact, and when we finally reach him, Jason comes out of the shadows and just batters Scarecrow and doesn't stop even after he loses consciousness, forcing Bruce to pull him off. He definately sounded ready to throw hands in the first tape.
Yeah that probably should have been in the game
After Bruce fought Jason, he started stalking Batman and most likely knew that Scarecrow broke the deal (attempting to kill Barbara) and he was the one who tracked the van of Scarecrow, to the point Alfred warned Bruce about it and he just said "I knew he would return".
So yeah, Jason proved he does give a crap about not only taking revenge for his loved ones, but saving others, even people he held a grudge in the past.
The whole character of Jason was done a lot better in Knight than people give the credit imo
When I attempted to 100% Batman Arkham Asylum, I usually just put on the tapes in the background as I scurried around. In a way, it kind of filled in the scary silence of the Asylum after Joker was defeated
Yeah I remember like when i did botanical gardens the ivy tapes were very interesting, so I would put them on to see what would happen cause i got so invested in them
I got kinda creeped out when I beat the game and everything was just empty
@@bigboibenny1609True felt like ghosts and super natural invisible things were floating around the asylum.
@@bigboibenny1609
Eugh, i'm sure everyone got that feeling. I'm just glad the future games has inmate chatter so everything doesn't feel so isolated
I played _Return To Arkham Asylum_ recently, and didn't realise that I could do that until I had a few trophies and tapes left. Could you do it in original _Asylum_ too? I played that years ago, and didn't do it there either. I'm wondering if it was a feature added for the Return To Arkham version.
I kinda liked the Stagg audio tapes because Sartorius is snuck in as little easter egg villain. In the comics he eventually turns into Doctor Phosphorus ^-^
That last tape with Jason is some of the most absolutely top tier acting and emotional stuff in the Arkham series imo respectively to anyone who has their own opinions
"How's Alfred?"
"He misses you. We all do"
Scarecrow: *Says he’s done talking*
Also Scarecrow: *Keeps talking* perfect logic.
Barbara: “You’ll still talking”
Audio tapes were a fun addition to the games. Mr. Zasz tapes from Arkham City being my favorite out of all of them.
Grape without the G got me lmao. Pyg definitely the creepiest character in the Arkham franchise imo.
I find hatter more creepy
Definitely a scary character as well. I just think that Pyg literally dosen't act human. He's so mentally ill he can't even speak or think properly. He tortures and kills people for enjoyment and Grape with out the G's them. Hatter does this too. Along with them both brainwashing their victims. However, the extents of torture that Pyg puts his victims through and the number of victims is far worse.
No joke, you're blood transfusion theory has been my head-canon since the second I heard of it.
I feel like the line about Deacon being around in the 20's could be some kind of connection to the lazuras pit
The last tape also explains why Jason never made a move on the manner throughout the entire game although I do find it a bit annoying cuz we only get to see the batcave in an AR challenge which is retconed because the back cave origins looks nothing like it but it makes sense why Jason wouldn't go there especially with Alfred being present
Origins is absolute trash, shouldn’t be held it the same breath as any arkham game, It wasn’t “retconned” since it’s not canon in the first place.
@@frankwoods9680 why can’t Origins haters accept that the game is canon? There are so many references to it in AK. Besides the game wasn’t even that bad to begin with
@@papabloodharvest9542 Y’know something, I played Origins for the first time about 2 years ago, I had no reason to hate it, I really wanted to like it & was super excited to play it. People kept mentioning the hate it got & to be honest, everywhere I look.. all people ever talk about is how great & underrated it was, talking about bossfights & cutscenes which by the way, 90% of the boss fights were straight pulled out of AA & AC, even the Deathstroke battle everyone goes on about (most overrated boss fight of all time imo), the cutscenes… nothing too special that I can remember, currently on my 3rd playthrough & I cant help but notice how terrible it actually is, it’s an insult to the Batman character nevermind ARKHAM Batman (best rendition of Batman ever/equal with animated series Batman imo), it’s an absolute cringe fest, terrible writing, no innovation, cartoonish character models, the only way I would accept AO as cannon is if it was a story told the way the Joker imagined/remembered it. The writing & handling of the characters was the worst part, I really wanted to like the game, it was just terrible, obviously people’s standards have dropped since then, creating you.. the enemy to creativity. Anyway which references do you refer to?
@@frankwoods9680 I’m not gonna list every reference for you. If you actually played Arkham Knight you’d know what they are. And hate to break it to you but just because you don’t like the game doesn’t automatically make it non canon. Anyway thanks for the essay lmao

In one of the stories of arkham knight, someone apparently writes riddler an E-mail. Does that mean that riddler has an online account?
I bet Riddler only has it so he can be a total Reddit mod everywhere he searches
yes he posts batmans fails in the race tracks on it
Riddler running insane batman subreddit? No way
Riddler does have social media and stuff as he told us if you fail one of the race tracks due to time expiration.
He has multiple online accounts. In one voice line, he even said he's having conversations with himself online with these multiple accounts :')
The Professor Pyg tapes also showcases his mommy issues, and from Always Nerdys retrospective of Arkham Knight he shows his comic characteristics and how he still hears his mother's voice in his head especially when she was responsible for his face, hence the stitches around the ears.
0:35 It still boggles my mind that after teasing The Creeper for two games, they passed up a golden opportunity to have him make an appearance.
It shouldn't boggle your mind that much because there's an easy explanation: The writers changed. Asylum and City were written by Paul Dini, and Knight was not. This is why Knight fumbles so much that was set-up in the first two Rocksteady games. The worst being the Hush plot imo.
Credits to Everyone involved in these Audio Tapes. Everyone was fantastic, no bad performances. But to me, Troy Baker, Dee Bradley Baker and Maurice LaMarche are standouts.
Here is a theory. The Joker is not a hallucination. He actually transferred his consciousness as a disease and tried to take over bodies as a hive mind. Unfortunately for him, every infected Joker had an independent petsonality. You can tell the Joker worked on this by seeing "Cadmus" written in the dlc of City. The idea is also related to Starro which Joker had in possession in the Knight dlc with Batgirl.
We can get upset that some story moments were hidden or unlockables, but at least we got them
Someone should definitely make a scarecrow let him cook edit
I just love these interpretations of these characters and these performances so much I’d take any extra taste
I did some research on the whole timeline thing and found something. In one of the Arkham Knight comics Joker left a recording of himself doing Joker things and makes a unique statement: “You know how everyone over 60 remembers when Kennedy was assassinated? Or when Derek Jetter made his 3000th hit?” So I looked up Derek Jetter’s 3000th hit in baseball and the hit was made in 2011 which imo confirms that Arkham City takes place in 2011 and Knight in 2012
YESSSSSSSSS, I've been waiting for this video, (which i knew was inevitable because of the Arkham city tapes video you did) thanks :)
Definitely appreciate the videos about the tapes, one of the most underrated parts of these games, shame you've got nothing to say about Asylum but hey, can't win em all.
ive been watching this channel since summer and the content on here is amazing idk why bro isnt at 100k yet keep it up man you tell the stories good and actually play the game
Honestly always assumed the series took place and modern times with all the modern civilian technology like smartphones and origins and modern looking computers and tvs/computer displays
The sequel we both needed and deserved.
Omg you’re the goat, this is actually the perfect video I love you
And also in the Arkham knight comics (up to you to believe if it’s canon or not) Jason would steal nightwings “nightcycles” all the time two to be exact while trying not to hurt him the first time he stole it when he wasn’t paying attention and the second he shot a arrow at the bike while he was driving and as he stole it he says “your an easy mark Grayson” and would refer to him as “the prodigal son” so I don’t think he hated dick he just resented him but not enough to kill
You also see Jason yoinking Firefly's jetpack, and when he gets back to base he's also got a Riddler cane and one of Oswald's umbrellas propped up against a workbench. He's more Magpie than Robin, stealing little shiny trophies!
@@tessabakker662 In his dlc he says he’s going to put romans mask “on his wall” so yeah he loves his souvenirs
id love to see what the knight would do if he saw scarecrow drop barbara
Agreed, although we probably all have a good idea of what would've happened. Either he kills scarecrow. Apprehends him or gets fear toxined and we then see a fight between batman against scarecrow and the milita while he tries to protect Jason. I think that personally though the story doesn't make too much sense, I feel like Jason was the owner of the milita. Commanding them what to do. Seeing him disappear for some of the biggest moments of the storyline is dissapointing. Seeing him send the militia to hunt him down and maybe even work with batman would be a twist. Obviously Scarecrow would still have a chunk of the militia members on his side but thats what i feel like makes that scene thats great already have so much more potential.
I thought I knew everything there was about the Arkham games, but ClownPuncher also ends up making banger videos that show me more
one of my fav youtubers
Dude I cry a tear every time Freeze has any backstory. One of the saddest characters in all of comics.
Thanks for the video, I had no idea these tapes were so awesome. Makes it even more of a shame cause we know what could’ve been. The Arkham knight and Barbara conversation shows the writers had such a good story planned out but something went wrong and they had to leave it on tapes. Gonna go back and listen to all the tapes in the whole series now.
bros out here leaking my private dms
Didn't know that there were hidden tapes for the dlcs. Wish there were 3 for ra's but I'll take what I can get. Love this video series. Just wish they made 3 or 5 when bruce at 8s parents got killed with Gordon.
You should review the Gotham City stories, they’re a lore goldmine. Nice video, by the way!
I honestly didn’t even know Arkham Knight had any tapes until my third playthrough.
I always knew they have tapes only because other arkham games do have them
Always a good day when clown puncher posts
I literally was just thinking about listening to these lmao
I think the blackfire tape about him being active in the 20s is supposed to be a reference to him being immortal in the comics as long as he does his ritual sacrifices it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he is in the Arkhamverse considering supernatural enemies already exist in it rash al ghoul and grundy for example
Dont get me wrong, i like that jason was a villain, but it would have been cool if we just received a message from Alfred from an unknown number of that tape with Barbara, but rather than lashing out, he reluctantly accepts help.
Then he shows up to see bruce in the clock tower randomly contemplating to just shoot him, but bruce would call him off saying "good to have you back jason" or something.
FINALY A VIDEO MENTIONING THE DATES IN WHICH THEY ARE BASED YES ! AFTER YEARS OF ASKING CLOWN PUNCHER ANSWERS
Coldest line in the series
“Anyone hurts her, they’re a dead man”
Pyg was talking about taking advantage of her
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel
I love this video and channel
Thanks you for your video and channel
I love Batman Arkham all franchise
I like how the tapes give us a better Jason Todd reveal than the main story
Finally the arkham night tapes
"Janossszzzssh" lol.
The guy that voice acted PYG deserved and Oscar
YES The Arkham Knight has the best taste in the entire franchise because I listen to them myself and they're so awesome.
Back in highschool I had an extra folder for Arkham asylum character profile and audio files.....
About Jason and Scarecrow, you mention that Jason says he just wants Bats to die during the clouburst but I would remind you he was going to shoot Batman when he was in the heli in the beginning of ace chemicals too! You even showed the clip
I could completely forget Arkham knight has the tapes
Honestly, deacon blackfire is kinda crap in this game. In the comics, he's a charming cult leader with a preists robe, a white ponytail, and a completely clean-shaven face. In knight, he's a crazy hobo with a beard and a blue Jean jacket. His side mission was also incredibly shoehorned in, and he was pretty underwhelming. I really like blackfire in the comics, but he's pretty lame here.
You know its not surprising to me so much of the cool stuff with Jason is in the tapes, kinda reminds me of mgs5. In game writing it often can be really hard to get across the story you want as the direction is so decided by the gameplay and its pacing. Writing has to often work around the design. So audio tapes and such in games are often one of the places the writer can just fully let loose as because its optional the player is only interrupting themselves rather then being interrupted if that makes sense
I have to agree with the 3rd tape from arkham knight being one of the best tapes in the entire franchise. I'm kinda mad that you could only find this in ya know a TAPE! But still it's amazing and i replay it alot. In my opinion they should've showed Jason like this in the game itself rather than just 1 tape.
It would've been cool if the tapes were scarecrow studying different characters and talking about his findings,it'd give a deeper look into the characters minds and it'd do what the Arkham city tapes tried to do. I came up with this like 5 minutes ago so sorry if it's a little vague
Come oonn clown puncher is sooooo close to 100k subs!!!!! omfg I REALLY WANNA SEE CLOWNPUNCHER HIT 100K HE DESERVES IT SO BADDDD LIKE HES THE ONLY PERSON THAT MAKES ARKHAM STILL REVALENT ASIDES FROM A FEW OTHER PEEPS LIKE ATOMSMITH OFC
Well technically arkham city can't be in the 1900s since joker references "posting something on the internet" in asylum.
So I've always thought it takes place somewhere around the time of release.
The bomb’s payload is exposed. I can use the power winch to trigger a controlled explosion.
Simon stagg tipes were just a easter egg of doctor phosphorus and my favourite types are prof pyg types.they actually show how insane he is.also any idea where blackfire's cave might be in.t
nice vid
Love how you can see Barbara tides in the chair, but then she falls right out of it so that Batman can catch her
I thought Scarecrow was done super well in both Asylum & Knight (I love John Nobles voice-acting), but I respect your opinion Clownpuncher
arkham world next please 🙏
Always think Arkham Origin should be about Jason and Bruce .That way we can have Arkham knight without too many flashbacks and flesh out Arkhamknight as a villain even more .
i disagree. I think that Origins is meant to show the origin of Bruce being Batman. Its important to develop the main character in a story. In this game we can see for about 75% of it he dosen't think he needs any allies, at the end, he is already on that mission and it wouldn't make sense to introduce a guy like Jason in the middle of the Climax. I think if they wanted to include him. I think he should be a side mission. Finding him then making it a sort of Azrael mission. Not the same thing. But kinda like that.
I’m not saying Arkham Origin should force Jason into the story.I think it should be about how Jason and Bruce met and then how he lost him all together. And having story about them can develop Batman in a similar way . Telling a story how he just lost Dick and shuts himself off but chose to let others in once again .But maybe I’m just blinded by how much I like the arkhamknight .I just wish the story of Jason was shown in a game itself and not just forced some annoying cut scene into the game.
Hey what is your thoughts on Batman Telltale? I think you’d love it and I highly recommend great adaptation and look on Batman. Would love to see your opinion on it
Batman should've let croc body that scientist tbh
I made a video a while back just showing off all the tapes, and some were actually interesting while others were just... there.
I agree with your bad blood theory in general but I feel like pointing out that what was said here about prions doesn’t really support your theory. If someone had misfolded prions (mad cow) and you got a blood transfusion from them you would more than likely get that infection regardless of if the blood types matched or not. Saying that Batman got this from jokers blood in city isn’t a theory, it’s literally what the game tells you word for word.
Thank you Mr puncher
Hi there :)
i don't know if you accept any video requests but i need to talk about this one since i have been thinking about this idea for a few days as i am playing Arkham City once again.
So as we know, every single of the games in the series takes place in a single night. But considering that the events in the game would be completed at an 100% if the events unfolded in real time, it is really hard for Batman to save the day before the sun rises up again. Speedrunners of course can manage to do 100% runs way below the 8-9 hour mark, but the runs that are made do not resemble how long it would take in real life since factors such as glitches and cutscene skips are permitted. Which means that no one knows if it is possible to finish them if it were to happen in real life, and i think it would be a fun challange to find out if it is in fact possible.
So although these numbers are highly up for debate, according to the series fandom page Arkham Origins takes place in 24th of December 1988. If we assume that the real life comparision of Gotham City is New york City, this makes the night in origins 14,40 hours. Arkham asylum is said to take place in July 1997(?) so it is 9,37 hours.
Arkham City seems to be 21th of December 1997 so the night is 14,41 hours, but quite some of that time is spent before the game since the talk which Bruce Wayne gives about the adverse effects of Arkham City supposedly takes place in the same night we begin to play him as Batman and most of the main story is spent under the "10 hour" window as Hugo Strange announces it. And since Arkham Knight takes place 9 months after Arkham City it is approximately 12,30 hours.
General Rules:
-100% (all main/side missions in the campaign)
-No glitches
-No cutscene skips
-No skipping audio/video conversations
-New game (No NG+ since Batman finds new gadgets as a part of the story)
Arkham Origins:
-Fast travels are permitted
Arkham City:
-Catwoman sections are not included (as the catowman arks goes on at the same time with Batman)
Arkham Knight:
-Countdown starts after the scarecrow attack, preferably with the bat signal in the intro (since the City is not evacuated at the same day)
-Season of Infamy missions are included
I may have missed some details but this is the general picture. I really like your channel and i think it would be really fun to watch if a video can be made about this.
Hey Clownpuncher, since you mentioned these tapes did you see Batman Arkham Videos recent long play for Arkham Knight? Because he edited the Joker audio log of Batman recapping events from the previous games into a previously on segment, kind of like the new Spider-Man games with their recaps, my question is do you think that audio log with Joker in Arkham Knight would work better for a recap in the beginning, like before starting the game but also tweaking it so there won't be spoilers for the Joker infected?
I think he did, since he gave BAV a major shout out in his iceberg video.
The reason the Arkham games take place in the 20th century is likely because its aesthetic/style is supposed to be a modernization and maturation of the Gotham from the animated series. which wanted to do the same thing and make a timeless world that feels like it could be set anywhere from 1940 to 1990.
Guys, just a quick message to tell that i've done my first ever 240% run. And oh boy, the last Azrael trial with those 6 ninjas took me FOREVER
Arkham vr story is just a dream batman had the night before arkham knight
Totally agree how character interactions were far and few.
26:24 Is that a Man reference?
Another win for clownpuncher
Hey clown quick question, what happened to Arkham city? I get the story and everything, but what happened to it? The city’s completely covered in water on one side, how that happen?
It makes more sense why Arkham Knight betrays Scarecrow
7:08 But Batman already said that its a mutated variant of CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease).
Apparently Pyg’s “Mother” is an Iron Maiden

For the record, we do actually have one official date in time to go off of for the events of the Arkhamverse. The Batman: Arkham Origins Deathstroke trailer. The trailer starts with some of Black Mask's men carrying some kind of illicit cargo, which is soon revealed to be a bomb planted by Deathstroke for Batman, into a warehouse at Dixon Docks. It can be assumed that the Joker has already taken over Black Mask's operations by this point, since after Deathstroke complains about being stopped by Deadshot from killing Batman, Black Mask reiterates that there are multiple assassins out for Batman. When one of the henchmen in the warehouse takes off their mask and throws it onto a table, we can see a calendar that reads December of 2013, and the crossed out days tell us that the trailer takes place on Christmas Eve night, or at least a couple days before then. We can confirm this as canon since, in the trailer, Deadshot breaks Deathstroke's sword with a shot from Pioneer's Bridge, and in the game, if we go to the central pillar on the west side, we can find a lone sniper sitting in its open case, and it certainly looks professional enough to be used by Deadshot. Why Deadshot left his sniper behind, and on the opposite side of the pillar no less, is beyond me, but knowing this, Arkham Knight should take place in like 2023 or 2024. Funny enough, this also feeds into the implication that Deacon Blackfire may actually be immortal.
I just wanna say that I feel that Arkham takes place the late early 2000s to the mid 2010s. Origins in 2001 Asylum in 2009 City VR and Knight in 2010 and Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League in 2015-2016
i’m sorry but the fact the last tape made u cry made me laugh hard 🤣
I've had a fun little idea for a while and that is, can you beat a Batman arkham game without "Killing anyone" 😅.
Like not making people fall off buildings and other things that would definitely lead to someone dying XD
Or... maybe a fun way of putting it, Can you uphold Batman's no killing rule in an arkham game?
Anyone who liked backfires side mission I recommend reading Batman the cult Jason is also Robin in the story so that’s a plus
Apparently in arkham knight in the Elliot memorial hospital there are pills with experiation dates in 2015
The game released in 2015
The scarecrow and knight tapes needed to be integrated into the story. People think this game is full of holes when its just that they dont understand the characters' motivations. Scarecrow never attacked GCPD until after Barb was freed because she was a better target to torture batman with. Drones were used instead of manned tanks because they couldn't be scared or have to abandon their posts. Thus, forcing bats into the open to deal with them.
Just let em cook guys 13:50
Fun Fact: prions have no cure, they're just proteins gone rogue, especially ones in the brain, so Joker was right all along.
My crack theory: the original Harley from Asylum isn't the Harley we have for the rest of the game series. That Harley was replaced with a new one and that's why the voices are different and the new Harley isn't like herself.
I always assumed grief was slowly taking a toll on her (due to his declining health state) until jokers death. Thats when she goes full psycho. That's why the voice actors changed in my opinion. Your theory could also be true.

If the mad hatter wasn’t a villain he would be a sick rapper no cap 🧢
I thought Arkham city was just months after asylum i guess i was wrong
about prion infection no it only proves that you're wrong yes they had the infection with joker's blood but prion infection is not about blood and if you don't believe me then read arkham stories in 1 of them written that barbara and tim found nothing in henry's blood
I think arkham knight takes place in the year 2031 because he is 38 in the game and he was 8 when his parents where killed in 2001 i think so 30 + 2001 =2031 for the decon tapes
