  • keeping it simple today... just my trusty Organelle and Octatrack.
It's a fun little setup, thats very immediate.
Organelle is running Orac, being sequenced by the Octatrack
3 chains Ring, Basic Poly Analog Mono
Octatrack the heart of the piece
    its sequencing Orac
sequencing a piano sliced loop (see below)
I then run this same piano sample at various speeds (1x, 1/2x, 1/4x)
also the usual fx - delay, reverb, filter and a bit of lo-fi crunch later.
piano sample I created in Ableton from Pianoteq, and a bit of reverb,
some Dm chords, which I then slice in the Octatrack, and sequence as I felt later.
whats new here (for me) was preparing my own loops and samples on the computer, so that then have something to sequence on the Octatrack
The more I play with the Octatrack, the more I find, its worth spending some time preparing your own samples and loops for it... at least this is what bring me most joy.
Im hoping to do this more... then not only can I use these prepared loops on the Octatrack , but also use them in various eurorack modules.

I very much enjoyed the raw and immediate visceral feel of this piece. You get a sense of emotional connection. Looking forward to further explorations.

Just to make the both work together is a good idea.

Liked it very much! Inspires me to try to sequence Orac from my OP-Z

Ooh, I don’t know op-z very well, but that does sound like fun !

@@TheTechnobear Hi! Can you please explain to me how I can let external audio come thru, I have 5 more channels to use on the op-z and would love to listen to them thru the audio input. I’m also wondering how to control the levels of the modules in orac. Thanks in advance! It’s really exiting to be able to play the amazing modules with the op-z. I try the thru gain level but no audio is heard. P.S. Some nice people on the fb group helped me out, sorry to turn to you and looking forward to the next jams!

@@musicalstatues73 sorry, I dont have an op-z so dont really know how that handles audio.
      for Organelle/Orac,
you can get audio input to enter a chain, by going to the router module (s1) , if you go thru the pages you will find a page for each chain, that has 'gain input', this needs to be increased from 0 to 100%,
similarly, the router module also has a 'gain' for each module , on its module page. you can use this to reduce or boost a particular modules volume.
there is also (in router module ;)) a gain level for the chain

@@TheTechnobear now that I’ve learned how to let ext audio enter the chains I went on and mod learned some parameters but couldn’t figure out how to unlearn them. If You could explain it I’ll very much appreciate it.

Hi ! Great jam! Do you think is still worth it to buy a octatrack nowadays? It effects and by the things it can do. Thanks! Greetings.

Thanks... I really love the OT, sure its FX are a bit dated, and its perhaps not an easy machine to understand. but I don't think there is still anything quite the same - it really feels like an 'instrument' that you play it. I think its a modern classic.
is it worth it? well depends how you will use it.
if you want something that you can twist and mangle audio, in a performative way - yes.
if you need more a sample playback/sequencer then perhaps Elektron's more recent devices (e.g. e.g. digitakt) might be better for you.
btw: I think loopop did a video on this topic, a couple of years ago.. and his points are pretty much the same today

@@TheTechnobear Thanks for the answer. And yes, even though it may be a little outdated(not even compared to what software in a computer can do nowadays) Octatrack is still put as an instrument. I guess I might buy one soon, maybe later a small synth or a drum machine to complement. Sampling things is always mysterious and exciting. I could anyway work samples( 44.1) up in my computer and then use them with the OT just for fun. I do own a Blooper, which make things not that predictable. Greetings.
