- For a century, Hammond's Candies has been hand-making its world-famous confections in Denver. Clearly, there's something sweet in the water out there-so for the latest episode of the Popular Mechanics series "MADE HERE," we visited the factory where old family recipes and a love of artisanal products continue to make Hammond's a magical place.
It all began when Carl T. Hammond, Sr. dropped out of high school and got a job as an apprentice at a candy factory. After years of toiling at different factories, Hammond ventured out on his own and opened up Hammond's Candy Company in 1920.

Every step that goes into making a beautiful Japanese kitchen knife: czcams.com/video/5lfOMdTeraY/video.html
Tell your editors to keep using the same crappy music for all their videos so that you can drive more viewers away
Amazing but they better have the woman with the tattooed arm heavily insured. She's incredible. That kind of confidence can only come with a lot of practice!
That one woman army, she does a lot of stuff at this factory, kudos to her
Arthritis Early for sure - WOW
She better be the best paid, legit magic lady
The amount of work is just insane 💪
More power to you all. Especially the ladies.
Why th e men do?
Looking at how much pressure they are using to make candy makes me want to appreciate more and more. I am really glad because of these people if it weren't for them we wouldn't have enjoyed candy.
I love Hurcleys candy making videos. They don't have all the big machines and do alot of hands on candy making.
I agree I was literally coming into the comments to say that it's kinda point less to say handmade if your using Machines Hercules does little to no machines at all
Well that's because they're family ran. This is a big company. And it's still done by hand. Pretty silly of you guys.

frank hill I know what you’re talking about. This company uses the rotating machine and Hercules candy, there’s a big hook on the wall. The person pulling and wrapping the candy on the hook in motions.
Yes! I Love Hercules Candy!!! I've been subscribed to them for a couple years now an really enjoy their videos
Thank You Popular Mechanics for making a video that is able to be viewed! No annoying over-dramatic banners, voice-overs, or superfluous crap. Video and soothing music, we are smart, we can figure it out. Thank You Thank You Thank You! So refreshing!
Just came across this video, absolutely brilliant, that lady was lifting up the candy as though it was nothing. The others were working really hard too. Wow what else can I say. Well done everyone.
She did her job so graciously.
im impressed... that lady and everyone else is so hardworking xxx
Just got some candy from Hammond's - amazing, delicious, well-packed, quickly shipped, and a freebie thrown in. Hands down BEST peppermint I've had in all my 50 years!
I could watch this all day
This is why I always say to appreciate all things no matter how simple because you never know how much work was put into it.
This video could fall under the strangely satisfying category too. I loved every second!
Watching this relaxed and zoned out on edibles lol..
Respect to the blue shirt woman. Her job was amazing. Its heavy job
Check out the candy Hercules candy, they are 100% handmade candy, run by a family, and some employees!

@@jacobsutton7836 Hercules Candy Co is in Syracuse NY, and you can order by mail.
Amazing how people even think about how to make these candies, with those techniques and machines. I applaud.
Always wondered how candy canes were made. I love Christmas. Love the winter. You guys are truly Santa's little helpers.

I am an IT person but i really like your hardwork . being a woman working so hard is a big deal! i also love to do this kind of hardwork
That was the best non narrated video ever. Also I think I got a cavity watching this
Thanks, Greg! Any suggestions for future MADE HERE episodes?
I gained 30lbs
@@PopularMechanics J y,
you people are talented. the machines help but in the future the machines will never take over your beautiful working hands
Wow, talk about labor-intensive ! Respect to those workers.
indeed!
I've never felt like eating candy ever in my entire life until today, I want some 🤤
You must be a very healthy person, i respect that
Amazing artistry! As for a job that looks very physically taxing - my back and feet hurt imagining 8hrs of that! Thanks candy makers for all you do to make our lives a little happier :-)
GREAT WORK GOING THERE!!!! WISH YOU GOOD HEALTH , STRENGTH & PROSPERITY!
Wow! That was very impressive. Such hard work to put a smile on peoples faces. Thanks to all of you!
Totally appreciate this women🙏♥️
Omg....I’m so happy seeing all the Hercules Candy comment recommendations! I thought they were a hidden gem of mine. Lol I love them!
I had the pleasure of going to the Harmond's store in Colorado once. I will remember those memories forever... Thank you..
I will never take a candy cane for granted again. What a great job. You have to know what you're doing but you also can have your own thoughts.
So few soo few left upon whom skill and grace is visited I hope that people wake up soon and learn to appreciate how rare it is to have something that is hand made and appreciate it and are willing to pay for that privilege.
Poor lady and her back, ugh bet they are so sick of candy. I feel for her and all those people and the lifting. Hard work and see not much staff. Yep we know how that goes. Interesting to watch, but can just feel how it is day after day. Great workers there! Thanks for your hard work! 😊
This was so calming and peaceful and yet I’m in awe of their craft. Just so much work and dedication I’m impressed. I’m ordering candy from here now! This was also excellently filmed.
Kudos to those who work on the production line but also to the engineers who design the machinery.
A very surprisingly soothing and quieting video. Absolute minimum of noise n the lovely well chosen background music make it a must for first thing in the morning, to start the day in a good mood. It's got it all, soothing music, unhurried people and a lovely sweet treat at the end. Its lovely you've got me hooked, I'm a fan.xxxxx
She is so hardworking,RESPECT
personally i have gone on a tour of THAT factory about 9 times.
Ki
So much of physical hard work even in this modern day and age to make candies. Appreciate all the effort put in by this single lady
Why did I find this so satisfying to watch?
The Blonde woman is a master of her craft. Very impressive.
anybody else feel like they just cheated on Max & Steve by watching this?
Okay but their houses must have the best candy for trick or treating
That was peaceful af, loved it!

I love Hammond's Candies! Nice people, great product. Really fun to watch! I recommend their tour, sometime!
Praise these people. Lots of hard work.
The only work that makes you feel happy when you are working 😍😍🍭🍬
For some reason it’s very relaxing to watch.
Thanks for sharing. I'm fascinated with how boiled sweets are produced, starting off as boiling sugar in a copper kettle before adding flavours, colours and ultimately tempering the candy mass with skilled hands.
I’m glad to see that robots hasn’t taken “all” jobs...yet
Much less "uumpa loompas"
If efficiency was their aim, this wouldn't be a 'handmade' factory
Lol

Perfeição manual.👏👏
Amazing job. I love this.
Yes, we went there , really nice factory in Denver , is free tour factory to the public... start with short film room and the the lady tour guide list keep talking about the factory on a microphone while you look thru that big glass windows .. then you keep walking the hall to another big window and that's it. She give you a big lollipop and you end at the shopping store.. make sure you take pictures with the old truck outside.... hey is free about 25 minute tour or so...
Now they probably stopped giving tours, or just limiting them due to the COVID 19 ☣️ and social distancing.
They do their job well....😍😍😍
Aah that's where Christmas father's alfies come from. Thank you. Love those candy.
