The Makeup comment got a lot of y’all riled up haha. Don’t sweat it,, HES STILL SUPER TALENTED AND DOPE! No makeup is just my preference I didn’t care for it when the 80’s rock bands did it or Michael Jackson. Just not my thing. Doesn’t take from their talent. Take it how you will.

Makeup for guys or girls can serve two purposes. 1) to just enhance natural features; 2) To look totally different. For either guys or girls, i don't like the latter. However, all celebrities have to use makeup on camera. you just have to. or else the lights will wash you out and you can look like shit. When they wear makeup, it's just to prevent that. It's not like they're using makeup to look different. There are other k-pop groups that use make up to make them look like entirely different people, and that type of makeup i don't like.

The writing on Jimin's chest is by German poet Rainer Maria Rilke. When translated it reads: “I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. I won’t, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. I circle around God, around the ancient tower, and I circle for thousands of years; and I don’t know, yet: am I a falcon, a storm, or a mighty song.”

I'm a 43 years old woman, and mother. I always love dark music, punk and metal.
I had friends who wore heavy makeup and eyeliner. Depeche mode, The Cure, Kiss, Aerosmith... I can name many bands that used a marked make-up. Even current bands and singers from USA and Europe.
It’s really not a big deal. Korean culture has different standards of beauty and men groom and care a lot, they do not have a fragile masculinity.

He's been criticized in so many different ways over the years, from his voice sounding like a girl and then people not believing it was his voice without autotune. So in my opinion, his verses are auto tuned kinda saying to the critics - yes this is my autotune voice and then the chorus is his natural voice without the autotune.

I am 53 and grew up on metal and rock, but BTS is my favorite group. Each one of the members is super stars. I think they look great with or without makeup. If you watch enough K-pop, you dont even think twice about it. I had the same reaction with auto tune. Jimin had never used auto tune before since it was his first solo album and his first mv. I wanted to hear his singing voice because I knew how great his voice is. He experimented and was trying new things. At least the whole song was not auto tune. He has another mv off the album called like crazy. One of my favorites off the album is face off, and that has only lyric video.

Yes, he's a member of BTS. The chest tattoo is not real, it's a German poem. But Jimin does have numerous real tattoos. Every entertainer male and female wears makeup, it's really not a big deal. And I barely notice the makeup on the members, if you see them completely barefaced they don't look that much different. The makeup just enhances their natural features. Now if you're wearing enough makeup where you look like a clown, that's a different story.

PDOGG made The interesting thing about the vocals, the very first part where he says "I gotta good time, yeah time to get mine, I wandered in a Maze, Hennesey and night" - That was JIMIN's sing/rap lower register, not autotune. The autotune came in next with "I never stop, I never stop" Then his high vocal tone "Repeat, again", and THEN he went back and forth from autotune phrases to high vocal with no autotune. But he used it in an artistic way to emphasis his feelings of anger or agression. The second verse was more agressive and had more autotune until it evened out around where he sings It's begun, my prime time. and it came in a couple more phrases with autotune and he sang the last verse and chorus with just his higher vocal range singing voice.
I've been listening to JIMIN's voice for years, and I know where he was using his voice and autotune. You just didn't like how his regular lower register sounded. That's fine, not to. but Jimin did an amazing job with this song. He got across the message he wanted to. This is the last song on his EP, and it was about his experience looking back on the time period of the pandemic up until their Las Vegas Concert/Grammy's performance when he started writing his album and working with a couple members of their production team on it. He compared it to a song camp. They would work, dring, eat, sleep and work again. He lived at PDOGGs house for a while during the process. Jimin doesn't need autotune. His vocals are amazing. Any live performance will show you that. He an amazing artist.
The makeup is part of the performance. They wear it when they are pefforming and when they are on the red carpet, etc. They don't wear it all the time. We know them by their names and their skills. And BTS debuted in 2013 as a Hip Hop Idol group in South Korea, and they are all doing solo projects right now.

About the makeup thing: K-pop is a package where multiple things are put together to create a finish product. What I mean by that is that when a song comes out it is not just about the song. Yes it’s the main focus, the main product but there’s also the choreography, the outfits, the hair, the makeup and the setting. Behind every song and album there’s a concept, a theme, and everything I just listed are made and added to the song to create a finish product that’s pleasing to the eye. That’s why everyone who reacts to a K-pop videos or performances are impressed, it’s because everything is purposely put together to make you say “wow”. Wether it’s a girl group or a boy group they all wear makeup to fit the aesthetic of the song and the concept behind.
Another thing to have in mind, in Korea, beauty is a very big thing for both genders. If you have a really nice skin for example you’re going to get a lot of compliments. There’s a lot of beauty standards and if you meet those beauty standards you are going to be well accepted in society, have a lot of job opportunities, friends… whereas if you don’t meet those beauty standards you’re going to be look down upon. Obviously I am generalizing it, it’s not always like that but it is something that us, foreigners, have to know to be able to comprehend their point of view and here, how K-pop works.

70 year old BTS Army here. Do you realize that many male (and female) news anchors wear makeup? Lots of male and female rock musicians wear makeup. It usually gets sweated off eventually but they start out with it. Same with BTS. A ton of it is used on men (and women) in theater as well. It is common knowledge in show business of all kinds that when studio lights are used, faces wash out and lose detail. In dark lighting, some complexions need illumination with makeup containing small amounts of iridescence. Is it common in their business? The answer is yes and they have a team of professional makeup artists. They don't wear it offstage/off camera. You sound like you don't understand something that has been around for a long time. Professionals don't think anything of it. It is odd to hear it even mentioned. I never heard anyone complain about Prince or Michael Jackson wearing makeup. Have you? If you were using better lighting you would probably need it too.
It's 2023 and autotune is here to stay. It is part of modern music.

Jimin is a member of the biggest group in the world- BTS. They are not just a typical KPop idol group. They are global A-listers. They're the only artist who got 3 number 1 albums in less than a year since The Beatles. They have broken records set by The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, One Direction etc. They are not just known for being great singers, rappers and dancers but also, their Korean lyrics are so deep, meaningful and inspirational. The message they send through their lyrics, music and artistry resonates with the general public because they tackle depression, anxiety, mental health, discrimination, social expectations, injustices, self love, hard work, following your dreams etc. They have 3 English songs Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance which they released during the height of the global pandemic to bring positive vibe and hope to all their fans across the world. Their 3 English songs are not really that deep compared to their Korean songs. The seven members are all songwriters, producers and composers. Although they have in-house producers, they are actively involve in writing, composing and producing their songs from their debut album in 2013 to their solo stuff until now. Their music genres include Pop, Disco-pop, Hip Hop/Rap, Latin Pop, EDM, R&B/Soul, Ballad, Funk, Synth Pop, New Age, Moombhaton, Electronica etc. Name it, they have it. As of March 2023, they have already won over one thousand awards and counting plus individual awards with 28 Guinness World Record. They top Billboard, Itunes, Spotify, and other music platforms. They sell out stadiums across the globe including Sofi Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Rose Bowl in the US and the legendary Wembley Stadium in England in less than an hour. Getting a BTS concert ticket is like hunger games.Their music videos are insane but they are better live. Their fans ARMY are not just screaming teenage girls but people who are in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s even 60s and 70s. I am around your age (female) - I like manly men. like Chris Hemsworth, Michael B Jordan, those kind of manly men. I think attractiveness comes in many forms. Men like Chris, Michael, etc are eye candy. They are visually attractive. When I was first introduced to BTS, I teased the person that introduced them to me. I thought they were super feminine looking too. They wore makeup and their voices were very high. I too questioned "are these the type of boys people like now-a-days"? I am a hip-hop lover and when i heard that there was someone in the group named "Rap Monster" and i saw RM in really questionable attire and hair style, my first reaction was "this dork is called Rap Monster?!?!" i could NOT take them seriously. Fast forward a few months and after diving into the rabbit hole, RM is now my bias *face palm*. and every one of the other 6 members are my bias wreckers. Every time one of them comes out with something new, i'm like "oh, he's very talented/loveable too". What made me fall for them is their talent, their hardships, their perseverance, their work ethic, and how they are choosing to use their influence for good. I am also a HUGE Kobe Bryant fan and they give me the mamba mentality vibe.
We are so used to entitled artists now a days. Always looking for the easy way out. Always wanting the fame and fortune, not caring what message they're sending and what example they're leading. Wanting to be the 'legend' when they don't deserve it. It was really refreshing to find a group that is NOT like that. If you give BTS a chance, you will find out why they are so popular. They are a super humble group even though they are at the top. They give back anyway they can and they don't take things for granted. They make boss moves. These boss moves are what really sold them to me. I can write a novel on it, so i won't start here. I'll let you figure it out on your own. But that's also why I fell for Namjoon (RM). He is the leader of the group and he is super smart. I am quite sure he had a hand in a lot of the groups' decision making, and they are brilliant.
Back to attractiveness. Yes guys like Chris and Michael are visually attractive. they will get all the attention right away. But when that attractiveness expires (eg, when they get older, or if they gain weight), what's left? That goes the same for women. You might like a girl coz she's hot, but when she get's older or bigger, will you still be attracted to her the same way if she has nothing else to offer? BTS goofs around all the time, so you see their cute/fun side, which is one way of attracting people. Then when they are in the zone (when they are on stage or when they are perfecting their craft), they turn on their Mamba Mentality. And that's another form of attractiveness. and if you ask me, that form of attractiveness out weighs visual attractiveness by 100000000%. And the kicker? if you're attracted to someone for their personality and talent, that attractiveness doesn't go away. and it actually results in charm and physical attractiveness that becomes much more sustainable. Which is another reason why BTS has been popular for so long, and most likely will continue to be popular for many years to come because their attractiveness is within and not just on visual looks.
BTS has like 400 songs in soooo many different genres. I can honestly say, i don't love all their songs. Some songs are just not my cup of tea (musically). HOWEVER, if you give them a chance, on the surface layer, you will find a sound that you like since there's soooo much music out there. if you go down a layer, and you read the lyrics, you will find that there's depth to the lyrics. first layer usually sounds like a love story or break up song, but then you'll realize that if you dive down another layer, it's actually maybe a love story for the fans, or the members, or for themselves. and if you watch the live performances and see the emotions they put into their performances, it'll touch you. if you go down another layer, there's probably another underlying message. and sometimes there's a layer of philosophy, or sometimes it's a message or story that runs through their albums. And when you start to piece these puzzle pieces together, you'll understand why they are so popular. There's something for everyone. If you're someone that just wants a catchy tune, and watch a video that's visually appealing, they have that. If you are someone that appreciates lyrics, they have that. If you want to feel like you're reading a novel or poem, they have that. If you want to learn about politics and social issues, they have that. I could go on, but that is why their fans can range from young children to people in their 90s. their content can be very mature and thought provoking.
I am someone that has a lot of thoughts, but i don't know how to express them or place those thoughts into an order that makes sense. But Namjoons' lyrics really helps me place those thoughts into words. And that's why he is my bias and what made me attached to the group. It's like he understands my thoughts and put it into words for me. When someone touches you that way...that's an attractive attribute that sticks. that doesn't go away. and when he created that bond with me, he visually started to look more attractive to me. His charm now seeps through his pores. Another example would be Jin and J-Hope. I think slightly after i kinda got to know the group, Jin and J-Hope were my least liked. I didn't understand Jin's role in the group. I didn't understand his humor, and he gave me old pervy uncle vibes with bad dad jokes. But diving deeper, his charm seeped through once again. There are videos i can recommend to showcase this without me writing another 10 page essay. As for J-hope, omg is he super talented. Visually he's not one of the most appealing ones, but there are documentaries and clips of him in his dance leader mode. Like in the Lollapalooza documentary, his attention to detail was really impressive. There was also another clip of him watching a new k-pop group dance to one of BTS songs. J-hope was laughing and having a good time until the beat dropped and they started doing the choreo. his eyes honed in, he went all serious, and the subtle movements of his head (like he's doing the choreo in his head and watching them intently) and once the choreo was done, he went back to regular happy go-lucky J-hope, and that was SUPER hot.
i think biologically, women are attracted to manly men because many generations ago....a physically strong man represents someone that can take care of the household. They can go hunt for food, and build things. Now a days there are so many people that work out to look good, but what do they with their strength? nothing. but our brains were taught over the past generations that this is what you should consider attractive. In reality, I think it's when someone is very competent or focused, or passionate, or talented, or good-hearted, or determined about something is real attractiveness.
i have never commented on posts on social media, but after diving into BTS i'm finding myself commenting. From a man that was raised with no toxic masculinity issues, men wearing make-up should NEVER be a deal. Male actors wear make up but no one bats an eyelid. Alice Cooper did & it was loved but a pretty man wearing pretty makeup has people riled. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Hell, more men should take pride in their looks imo, there's nothing wrong with men wanting to look beautiful.
As for the auto tune, no one likes auto tune when it's used to mask/hide not great vocals but when used as a way to portray a story, dark vs light I think its definitely an enhancement.
When someone reads a story I would walk off if told in the same voice and tones.
The place you pointed out at the beginning is his actual voice but his lower register.

It's ok to ask tbh the makeup doesn't matter to me ... these guys are so much more than that. How? Because their music is artistic, really creative and both BTS and it's Label BIGHIT promised each other from the start they would never release music that would embarrass them, their mission statement is "Music & Artists for Healing!"
Yeah this is Jimin's 1st attempt at using Autotune to, he's the BTS member that usually sings the high (& super high) notes, people often mistake his voice for a females.
KPop is all about making sure the Visuals (of performance) are all on point - hence makeup etc matters.
    BTS = 7 members - 1. RM 2. SUGA 3. JHOPE 4. JIN (oldest) 5. JIMIN 6 TAEHYUNG aka (V) 7. JUNGKOOK (aka JK)
RAPLINE - RM (BTS) Leader, SUGA (aka AGUST D) & JHOPE.
VOCAL LINE - JIN, JIMIN, V & JK (aka JUNGKOOK)
DANCE LINE - JHOPE (Lead dancer: background - hiphop underground dancer), JIMIN (Main dancer - background: contemporary dance), JK & V - BTS main dancers.
    1. BTS formed in 2010
    2. BTS debuted in June 2013
    3. BTS lived, learned, worked, practiced together 3 yrs before debut.
    4. HYBE is the umbrella company
    5. BIGHIT is their label.
    6. Jin is serving 18months in the military now, JHope will leave soon.
    7. All the others will follow to all reunite by 2025.
    8. HYBE with 69M is likely bcoz ARMY (BTS"s fanbase) is known to have from 60 -90M+.
    9. BTS will not & don't participate in PAYOLA, so airplay was non-exitent,.
    10. They've worked their asses off & have the receipts to back it up & that's why their fanbase grew so huge. BTS & ARMY are protectivè of each other.
AND YES B.P. you really are way too ol' skool lol 😂😂 What attracts me most is their genuine, openness, normal, humble, nice, caring, kind, sweet guys, who are hilarious & crazy af 😂😂
Hiphop may have originated there in the US though it's changed so much too ... yet it's reach is global and is loved globally. BTS has done their research, studied hard, were true to their misic & love of hiphop, fought against all the bs by haters in/out of the industry & honours the music & the craft.
Bro there's no Western "boy-band" that comes close! Just sayin' 😅😂
These guys only just started releasing individual members 1st albums after 10yrs - the music industry esp in the US ignores the groups achievements, it's likely to try to undermine the individual members efforts, but it doesnt matter - BTS literally have an ARMY for a reason lol 😂🎉😅

BTS, especially the rap line, was heavily criticized at the start of their career for wearing makeup by the underground rap community in South Korea and they were essentially being called women and not rappers worth respect. That's why a lot of ARMY will jump at you for saying anything about them wearing makeup. We understand that not everyone cares for it, and we understand you don't mean anything bad with your words. We, as fans, are just very protective.
There is also a difference between wearing makeup on stage and wearing makeup on the street as an individual. Korean idols are expected to wear make up, but honestly (for me personally) if makeup makes someone feel more comfortable in their skin then I don't really care because it isn't my business.

I know that this was months ago, but I just found your videos. I wanted to comment on the makeup thing. K-pop is unique in that their music industry, as it is today, first started in the 90s, after MTV started airing. Because of that, visuals are just as important to K-pop as singing and dancing, if not more so. Singing and dancing can be taught, visuals, not so much. The make up is part of that but the idols also use it as a sort of shield or protection. It hides the flaws and imperfections of their skin and gives them more confidence. The BTS members don't really need the makeup since they're all very good looking without it, but they also get very self-conscious without it. They grew up wearing makeup and it has been a part of their lives and their culture for years. BTS members have been idol trainees since 2011, so they've been singing, dancing, rapping, and wearing makeup for 12 years. To them, and to anyone familiar with K-pop, it's normal.

Lots of Asian countries value skincare and wear makeup. It’s just a natural thing which is perfectly fine! They are beautiful and handsome no matter what. Honestly, if more men, and let’s be honest, women too, especially westerners where toxic masculinity is so prevalent, took care of their skin like Korean men do, they might not be so wrinkly and aged when they are like 50. There’s a reason why Asian’s always look like 5-10 years younger than they are.
Respect to them. They’ll still look amazing at 80 when everyone else is nasty and wrinkly 😂

This is from his first album and I'm really proud of him. He has some anxiety over his music so I'm happy he overcame it and put it out anyway. About the makeup: all artists in entertainment wear makeup. In the east the makeup application in entertainment seems to be the same for both genders and so is more obvious on males. I personally don't care. There are times I've disagreed with the amt of makeup used but that's more on the makeup artists. I've seen many videos and pics where none of the members are wearing a lick of makeup. Namjoon (BTS leader) is spending this time travelling everywhere and barely remembering to wear sunscreen lol. That alone confirmed for me that the makeup is for the stage or if they're dealing with the public.

Hi, I an a 22 year old dutchie and I've been a fan of bts for over 6 years😊 Just wanted to add a point of view to the make-up topic.
The era of toxic masculinity is indeed over, it's a turn-off if men are insecure about their feminine side. If you feel too manly to cry then that's a red flag. If wearing a little liptint affects your confidence, then that's a red flag. If a man does not feel the need to help out with female unpaid work (family care, household chores) then that's a red flag. Research has shown we need to move away from a toxic masculine society to become more equal and fair 😅😊 And surpassing "feminine" qualities like make-up contribute to that.

Its not a rarity that male models are in commercials for makeup brands or that male kpop idols are the face of several makeup brands. It's just part of their culture and style. Of course its exagerated in music videos or on stage, but even the regular young man in korea would not be weirdly looked at if he's correcting his skin with make up or wear a light lip tint

BTS💜. For an amazing rap check out RM's Joke and you should check out BTS 2019 MMA performance. It was an award show that turned into a concert.

I’m a 46 year old horse trainer, mother of 4 from Iowa. I had no interest in make up, man buns, colored hair or piercings before I became Army. Now I’d be okay with my husband choosing any of those things, but I don’t need it. These 7 men are beautiful inside and out. Besides hair bands in the 80 s were crazier than BTS

In my opinion i don't like men wearing makeup on a daily basis especially if they're just at home or running errands but if it is required for a certain situation like for a concert, shooting MV's or movies yeah i have no problem with that coz who would watch an artist looking sick or pale as a ghost? Most of asians got small eyes that's why they need heavy eye makeup just so their eyes can look bigger on screen or from afar. And as for the auto tune, Jimin got one of the beautiful voices in the world maybe they just added it to enhance the vibe or mood of the song not because he needs it. He can sing beautifully without it. There are songs that overuses autotunes but songs like this that used autotune to multiply the mood and vibe of the song is perfect.😁✌️

Did Prince wearing makeup bother you too ? genuinely asking

I am 55. You are a little out of touch 🤣🤣🤣 Tom Selleck really?? ( I did love him when he was Magnum, but you have to adapt) Now, for me, it's Kit Harrington, Michael B Jordan or Jungkook.
I love BTS. I have never liked "boy bands" before unless you include The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. They are something else. Its like the Wu Tang Clan had kids with MJ and Prince(makeup)The makeup is part of the Idol culture, but it is nothing new. I grew up in the 80s, and almost everyone in music had makeup on. Bowie, The Cure, Boy George, all the Goth bands and even all the hair bands had makeup. Because of MTV. Videos just started. It was crazy. Do you not remember??? I get if you don't like it lol, but it is the trend. Image how hot you would look with makeup. 😍
It does stem from being on stage and exaggerating your looks otherwise the lights wash you out. Believe me I know, I am so pale, I look like a ghost without it on😂😂😂
As all of us ARMY will keep saying BTS started as a Hip Hop group. Listen to Anthony Ray he will steer you in the right direction.
    😘💜🫰🏻
And p.s. they knew Coolio from American Hustle Life 😪 rip
