  • MSY - the three-letter code designation of the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport - is definitely one of the best airport code stories of all. On the last day of 1910, John Moisant, the first person to build and fly a plane with an all metal frame, and the first pilot to fly over the English Channel with a passenger and an animal, died of a broken neck after he was thrown out of his nose-diving aircraft at the current location of New Orleans International Airport. Stock yards for cattle were later put on the land where Moisant met his fate. The owners wanted to honor John Moisant, so they called the stock yards the Moisant Stock Yards, or MSY for short.

Oh, the shark, has, pretty teeth, dear
And he shows them a-pearly white
Just a jackknife has Macheath, yeah
And he keeps it out of sight.
    2
When the shark bites with his teeth, dear,
    Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves, though, wears Macheath, yeah
So theres not a trace, hmmmm of red.
    3
    On the sidewalk Sunday morning,
    Lies a body oozin' life
    Someones sneakin round the corner
Is that someone Mack the Knife?
    4
Hmm, from a tugboat by the river
    A cement bags droopin' down
Yeah, the cements just for the weight, dear
Bet you Mack he' s back in town.
    5
Look at here Louie Miller disappeared dear
    After drawing out his cash
And Macheath spends like a sailor
Did our boy do somethin' rash?

    Sookie Tawdry, Jenny Diver,
