      yeah on M60 the auxiliary optic is lateral to the main gun, on abrams it's below the main gun. So on both, if the auxiliary can see it, the gun can see it. It's a good way to confirm.

    In a real tank, if you have one type of round loaded, couldn't you switch to another type without firing that first round? I'd imagine you can, so why can't we do it in game? I mean, it's not a huge deal, unless you are trying to conserve APFSDS for tanks and use HEAT on APC's.

    • @samargrewal929
      @samargrewal929 Před 11 měsíci +18

      in a real tank while you could take out a round from the breach it is often preferred to fire that you already have loaded first. mainly because it take's much longer and more inconvenient
      also good luck doing that in the middle of a firefight

    • @PhanPhantasy
      @PhanPhantasy  Před 11 měsíci +10

      In GHPC you can't change rounds (yet?), although I wish you can like in Steel Beasts. But yes, what samargreawl said is true. It's faster to just send a round in and then change to your preferred round.

      It seems that opinions vary on this one. I've read and seen in videos (I can't recall which, maybe from "Inside the Chieftain's Hatch") that it can be very dangerous to attempt to extract a loaded shell. Apparently in some cases there is a risk that the shell casing may come apart spilling propellant inside the tank. From what I've been able to find it is SOP to fire what you have loaded and then switch to the best ammo for any follow up shots. Those that have shared this opinion state that is is safer and faster. I also recall hearing that the first shot, no matter what shell type it is, is the most important. Taking even a non penetrating hit (even a near miss) can have an absolutely devastating psychological impact on your target, which amongst other things, will severely impair their ability to locate you and retaliate. So by that logic, whatever you have loaded is always the "best" shell type.

      @angryginger791 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@DeletedRedactedConfidential Makes sense. I think they have to arm the HEAT rounds too, do probably not a good idea to mess with it after that.

    • @Ramash440
      @Ramash440 Před 11 měsíci +2

      The time issue aside, one other reason in the case of moderns tanks is that the casings are made out of a combustible material that's rather fragile. I'm pretty sure it's some type of cellulose composite. You may damage the casing and spill propellant all over the turret when taking the round out so you might as well just fire it. But yeah, main reason is time here.

    It's all good and we'll to be using tactics but the Russian Armour have no thermal sights....the American Armour has a huge advantage over T55s etc...shooting fish in a barrel...when are Russian tanks going to get thermal?????

    • @PhanPhantasy
      @PhanPhantasy  Před 11 měsíci +3

      Sadly thermal technology for the soviets was lacking until they became known as Russia Federation, and then that's when the T-72s and T-80s were upgraded with it.
