@skeleton Yeah, I don't know what the other commenters are on about, my argument is that it's quite absurd that people find Apu offensive, as though he's one of the best (as in kindest) depictions of an Indian person in media if you can look past the stereotype. And also if you can look past Hank Azaria voicing a Hindu guy, but he's no stranger to being the guy that makes fun of others cultures, including attempting to talk in languages that he has no ability in hell in pronouncing correctly. To be fair, you can kinda make a similar argument for Cletus as well, in that he's a pretty good depiction of being a pretty model citizen. He cares about his family, he finds joy in little things, he celebrates his kids getting an education, and there's a sharp mind behind the yokel appearance, but on surface level, it's far more stereotypical and inappropriate than an Indian man who works at a convenience store.
What I like about Cletus is that he's a better father to his kids than most parents in Springfield.
