  • How do the Logitech Brio 100, Logitech Brio 300, Logitech Brio 500, and the Logitech Brio 4K compare? Let's find out. I test each webcam with the default settings, then show you how to adjust the image quality using the Logitune software. Thanks for the video. Have just watched a previous video where the Brio 500 came out tops. I'm currently using the 922 and was looking to upgrade to the 4k or 500 after your video. However, the 4k is double the price of the 500 here in South Africa. Is it worth going for the 4k or will the 500 be a good enough upgrade from the 922?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 9 měsíci +3

      I like all 3 cameras to be honest. The 922 with the right lighting produces a great image. I'd probably keep that one until you do want to go to 4K or 1080p60. Can you still get the 2017 Brio 4K there or get refurbished/renewed Brio 4K cheaper?

      I believe these are both essentially the same webcam. They are both the Brio 4K form factor, but depending on where and in which channel they sell in, the product names change slightly. Love your reviews, really appreciate all the comparison videos. Have Logitech adjusted the mic profile in the Brio 500? In this video it sounds like it has a lot more low end and bassy than in your original Brio 500 review (before tuning)? Do you find the mic more accurate/better in the 500 or the 4K model? Do you think the extra sharpness and mic quality of the 4K is worth the price premium over the 500? What's different with the internals of the 4K Pro model? Thanks

    • @Damon89
      @Damon89 Před 8 měsíci

      Also, would you say either of these are now better than the c922? Or is the c922 sharper? I've read a few things now saying the Brios aren't worth it over the c922.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you. I don't think Logitech changed the mic profile, because none of the cameras were missing firmware updates before I started (I checked). It's likely the camera position being closer. I've stopped doing any digital zoom whatsoever after my OBSBOT Tiny 2 Review, because people seem pretty fanatical about focus when I do a multi camera test and try to match framing. This one would have been impossible because the 101 has a 58 degree FOV and Brio 4k is (at least) 90 degrees. As for internals, there tends to be some component upgrades over time (newer, faster chips, more onboard storage, better firmware), there is a reddit post with a Logitech moderator on the topic here: www.reddit.com/r/logitech/comments/150i1ay/brio_4k_2017_vs_2022/ I also noticed slight improvements to the C920 vs C922 over time. I'd say it's mainly firmware and having a slightly better processor and more onboard storage to run better firmware if I were to guess.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Both are better imo. The 922 is a great camera, especially with lots of natural light, but the Brio 4k and Brio 500 are better.

    • @Damon89
      @Damon89 Před 8 měsíci

      @@DeployJeremy Thanks for the info. Interesting, a lot of people on reddit saying the brio (the old 4K I think) is worse, very grainy, not as clean as the c922. Although I suppose firmware updates in the meantime might have improved this, esp with the newer 2022 version? I also noticed someone said the Brio 500 when using 78 degree FOV, because it's digitally zoomed in, it looks worse. Not sure if the 4K Pro would be better in this regard (if using same 1080p). With current BF sales I can get the C922 Pro Stream for AUD$88, Brio 500 for $114 or Brio 4K Pro for $177. Just wanting decent image and mic quality for Discord/Skype/etc calls (limited to 1080 or 720p anyway), without overspending if it's not warranted. Upgrading from old Quickcam Pro 9000.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 8 měsíci

      @@Damon89 It's all about the light you give them. I can make the Brio 4k image grainy with low or variable light at different depths. The C922 is still a very strong camera and if you want to stay within a budget, it's a good choice. That said, I still think the BRIO's are a bit better. Pricing is a bit different in Oz, here you can get the Brio 4k 2017 for about $120, or $150-ish AUD. Half of my family lives there in Victoria. AUD$88 is a great price for the 922.

    Hello Jeremy checlong out this video again after returning the obsbot tiny and tiny 2 for problems with its software and steep price. I am now looking at logitech brio and was first sold on the 4k but then read that recording in 4k 8s not that easy. Also in this video the default 4k looks yellow so i might go for the brio 500 or 505. Is the 505 better?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 5 měsíci

      The 4K with firmware updates is good now. If you need 4K, that's the only Logitech that does 4k. Brio 500 vs. 501, 503, 505 I believe is primarily packaging (500 are consumer, others are business with brown cardboard boxes), and also the Logitech GHub software for tuning tends to only work with the 00 consumer cameras. That said, LogiTune still works with the business cameras and is much lighter weight with the same tuning options + firmware updating.

      @@_pbear-eer8353 technically, I prefer the 300, mainly because it's newer and has Logitech software and firmware support - and in "youtube" RGB lighting conditions, it doesn't produce that yellow tone image that the C920 and Brio 4K suffer from. That said, a few people are reporting manufacturing issues where the 300 camera isn't recognized by Windows and they need to update the firmware. Not sure how common this is, but flagging just in case. Thankfully, it sounds fixable if it does happen. And to be clear, my 300 camera had zero issues.

      Yup, it's only in the 4K Brio from Logitech. There are other manufacturers with Windows Hello support, but the Brio 4k in my experience is the best one.

    The 500 model microphone seems to be the worst of them lot, and even by far, doesn't it? this mirrors my personal experience with its audio recording quality. Anyone had a different experience?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 6 měsíci

      My experience has been different. The 4k Pro with updated firmware is better, but the 500 from my experience is better than the 300 and the 100. They all seem to match their different price points in my tests.

    • @matan9577
      @matan9577 Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks for sharing this @DeployJeremy the Pro does seem to cater a kind of perfect audio capture quality, whereas the 500 seems far worse than your typical smartphone's audio capture to me. Voice sounds muffled.

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 6 měsíci

      @@matan9577 most webcam mics are terrible because of the distance to your mouth and echo. The main reason the wide lens cameras in my tests sound better in general is because I need to move them closer to my mouth to match framing. Even though the 4K and 500 both claim a 90 degree field of view, the 4k is 10-15 degrees wider and normally I would bring it closer in those cases. In the real world in top of a monitor and a meter away from your mouth, both mics are barely tolerable and need digital tuning for echo removal and equalization to sound OK. Teams and Zoom do that, so at least in online meetings they will sound OK. Smartphones are also processing sound (and image), because it's table stakes now for phones and they have way more processing power than even modern high end mirrorless cameras and webcams are completely restricted in processing power.

      Which mic has better noise cancellation for an office situation where you have coworkers on either side of you also on their own calls at the same time as you? Both the 4K and 500 have different claimed noise cancellation strategies.

    It felt like all the cameras was out of focus, like they focus on the background more then on your face? I have an old Logitech 1080p webcam with autofocus that is not very good at focus on my face... it´s always a bit out of focus.. Now I want to buy a new webcam that can focus in the correct way, maybe Logitech is not the way to go if they still have problems with focus? What do you think?

    • @DeployJeremy
      @DeployJeremy  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Some cameras have great autofocus. The Insta360 Link, Logitech BRIO 4k corrected the yellowish default color tones with firmware updates last year and it focuses well. But you're right, many fixed focus cameras favor the background for some reason, like the intention is that the camera is 10 feet/3m away from the subject

      I felt like all the cameras in the test was focusing the background more then your face. Well, I have to think about this for a while. What camera to get next time. Maybe a non autofokus one is the best for me, as long as it is possible to adjust focus manually :)

      This video is a really thorough piece of work and deserves to be carefully absorbed - I have a 922 pro stream and I've rarely seen anything much better in the wild (Teams / zoom / Google meets). The best webcam footage I've ever seen is a dude who ended up using an iPhone on youtube. I'm an android user. Not sure if it was shown at Teams resolutions/frame rates, though. To me, it was better than an m50 thru a7iii.
