    Finally OBD sound thats somewhat realistic and doesn't sound out of a early 2000s videogame, well done! Two questions for you: 1. Doesn't WiFi have less input lag? And if yes, will the app support it? 2. Are you planning/ working on releasing the app on IOS aswell?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 4 lety +20

      Hey, we are glad you liked it!
      Our mission is to provide the most authentic engine and exhaust sound generator inside your car that sounds natural and not artificial like other apps.
      1. The app support the Bluetooth (OBD2 ELM327) solution, so you can save on battery.
      All the OBD protocols are supported, however more recent cars (>2008) can use the option "FAST COMMUNICATION".
      Any acceleration/deceleration, RPM, gear change, delivered torque and more are tracked in real-time.
      2. Yes! We are planning to launch the app for iOS.

    The app is beyond my expectations, realistic and sincronised, also a small subwoofer will help a lot. What will be better is a higher output volume ( I use it with phone volume on max and the car audio system almost on max, some pronounced sound for downshifting.

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 3 lety +5

      Hey Kieron, our goal is to bring realism and to simulate the sound inside of the cabin of a supercar, many low frequency sounds (bass) are generated by the app to simulate the vibrations produced in those same cars, hence a good sound system, such as you indicated and well, a subwoofer, is important! 😎
      Some mobile devices have little gain in the audio output, so we will work to implement a volume control in the app. 👍

    I would like to try, but with Bluetooth is there a lot of sound delay? Wouldn't it be better with wifi or with cable?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 3 lety +10

      Hey Carlo, for a non-delay experience, you must use the audio cable. But most of the time we use audio through Bluetooth and we have great results.
      However, the delay depends on the supported Bluetooth's audio codecs of your car's radio and the performance capabilities of your smartphone.

      Hey Pengfei, the app development started a year ago as a hobby. Right now, there's a lot of demand from the audience to put in new sounds, but it's not easy for us to pick up the vehicles you ask for and get recordings the next day. Keep in mind that it takes months to get quality recordings and work on them.
      We prefer to have only a few sounds, than many compared to other apps, but that these few convey the feeling of reality. At launch, we started with 3 cars, today we have 7, and we will definitely be adding more.
      We work every day to improve the simulation and communication algorithms.
      We are currently working to introduce the Pop & Bang feature, which we hope to launch in the coming weeks. 💣
      Thank you for supporting our journey and using the Potenza Drive app! 😃👍

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 3 lety +8

      Hey, thanks for reaching out!
      The audio delay is almost zero when using aux cable. As for Bluetooth, it depends on your smartphone and car radio, but still a lot of fun.
      In fact, we are working on the next update, which will double the speed of communication with OBD. Therefore, the experience will be even more immersive.
      Download our "OBD-II Test" app, to test the compatibility of your setup: phone, OBD adapter and car's OBD protocol.
      Any extra information or issue, let us know by email, we are here to help you!

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 3 lety +6

      Hey C Hash,
      Yes! you can use it in parallel. When the audio is transmitted via Bluetooth, some delay is added and depends on the protocol negotiated between the mobile phone and the car radio.

    Hey, i have a question before i buy it. So i have a 2007 4cylinder mazda 3, and i was wondering, since it is an older car and such, it doesn't have bluetooth, but it does have an aux. Will it work with just an aux? Or do i need the bluetooth??

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před rokem +1

      Hey Alberto, we will then help you to understand what you need. 😉
      ✅ OBD-II ELM327 (Bluetooth) adapter:
      You need to have an OBD-II ELM327 Bluetooth adapter to use the Potenza Drive app.
      Beware of cheap adapters, they are of poor quality and frequently lose connection. 🙄
      Note: We will soon release support for Wi-Fi and USB adapters (in addition to the already supported Bluetooth).
      We advise you to download our test app to see if you have a good adapter.
      OBD2 Test [FREE]: bit.ly/PD3kF14Xu
      ✅ OBD-II protocol:
      In our "not in-depth" search, we found that your car has the fastest and most reliable OBD-II protocol, being ISO 15765-4 CAN.
      This is the only one that allows the app to generate sounds in real-time.
      ✅ AUX cable:
      Using AUX cable is pretty much what we recommend.
      This interface has "virtually" no delays when playing audio, whereas using Bluetooth you will always have a delay of 0.5 to 2 seconds.
      ✅ Sound system:
      A powerful amplifier and big speakers are the secret ingredient to increase the sense of realism.
      The app produces sounds with very low frequencies (BASS), so the bigger the speakers, the more capable it will be of reproducing these sounds.
      Otherwise, the sound will seem low due to the speakers' lack of ability to play these frequencies.
      In summary, it looks like you have a nice setup. 🥳

I have the set up app set to ubs and the drive app set to usb. What should the config be ?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 6 měsíci

      Hey, first of all, thank you for choosing Potenza Drive. 😍
      We ask that you report your issue via our support email to ensure we can help you in the best way possible: support@potenzadrive.com
      Given your report, what seems most obvious to us is that your OBD-II adapter (USB) is capable of receiving data (such as RPM). After some time, as communication intensifies, your OBD-II adapter is unable to collect new information, leaving only the information it previously received.
      The same sound is played for some time, as no new information is received. The app, realizing this and unable to obtain new information, ends up disconnecting itself (as it was impossible to reestablish communication).
      This may happen because:
      1) The OBD-II adapter is of poor quality. Most devices are clones (fake chips) of the ELM327.
      2) Your vehicle's OBD-II protocol is old. Only the ISO 15765-4 CAN protocol allows real-time and stable communication. In comparison, this protocol can be up to 3500% faster.
      If your vehicle has a protocol different from this, communication will be slow and compromised, especially if the OBD-II adapter is not of good quality.
      Again, we await your contact so that we can provide you with more details. 🤗🔧

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před rokem +3

      Hey Max, thank so much for your words mate! 🥰
      There are many factors that may lead to audio delay. How can you reduce it? 👀
      1) OBD-II protocol: Having a car with the ISO 15765-4 CAN. This protocol is the fastest one and the only one to enable real-time audio. Older protocols are extremely slow in comparison and less reliable.
      2) OBD-II adapter: Having an adapter with a good ELM327 chip is required to get timely data from the vehicle's engine.
      3) AUX cable: Use it to play real-time audio. If you use Bluetooth you will always have a delay of 0.5 to 2 seconds. Also Bluetooth is known for its poor sound quality (audio codecs from Bluetooth).
      4) Android device: It needs to be powerful enough to handle the communication and generate the sounds.
      If you need further help to understand more about the audio delay, please contact us: support@potenzadrive.com

I connect the OBD to my phone and with phone Bluetooth or phone AUX, I connect my phone to the car speakers. Is this solution possible or should I be worried it won't work? Hey Mate, unfortunately the OBD-II adapter you purchased will not work with the Potenza Drive app.
      An OBD-II adapter with the following specifications is required:
      - ELM327 (chip)
      - Bluetooth
      What are the advantages of a Bluetooth adapter over Wi-Fi?
      - It saves 10 times more your smartphone battery.
      - When Wi-Fi is turned on, you cannot use the Internet from your smartphone (Mobile Data). Therefore, you cannot use other apps while driving that require Internet access, such as Navigation (GPS) and Music streaming.
      Requirements for the Potenza Drive:
      1) Smartphone/tablet with Android OS.
      2) OBD-II ELM327 (Bluetooth) adapter.
      3) Car with AUX cable input (note: if you stream audio via Bluetooth, you will have a sound delay).

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před rokem +1

      Hey BEAST ART, yes it's possible! 👍
      BUT! If you play audio through Bluetooth you'll always have a delay of 0.5 to 2 seconds, and also lower audio quality (Bluetooth codecs).
      That's why we always recommend AUX cable.
      In the description of this video we have a workaround for situations where you have no AUX cable available.

    @RetroRepair Před 2 lety +2

    How come none of these apps support USB FTDI cables?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey RetroRepair, the vast majority of apps that use USB are diagnostic apps aimed at a very specific market, such as programming ECUs.
      The USB interface was tested by us and did not bring speed or stability benefits over Bluetooth.
      In addition, this interface is falling into disuse, it is not practical to connect a USB cable whenever you want to use the Potenza Drive app (or similar) and it drains your smartphone/tablet battery.
      Another issue is that many Android devices may require USB driver installation (FTDI Chip or Silicon Labs).
      In short, Bluetooth is an interface as fast and stable as USB (if you have a good adapter and fast smartphone/tablet), you don't need cables, and the ELM327 adapters are very cheap.

    There are some OBD Sound apps out there and i am always missing one thing: DSG Farts! Will they be in your app? And how many cars are you offering?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 4 lety +6

      Hey, this new DSG/DCT burp trend of bangs and pops is relatively new. It's caused by a fuel igniting in the exhaust, so it's a mechanical phenomenon that is not possible to recreate only through OBD information. However, there is a big chance that this feature may be implemented by us in an upcoming version.
      We are launching the app with three different car sounds. We dedicate a lot of time to obtain the most realistic sounds, that no app can match. We prefer quality over quantity, and we believe that a good sound is better than many that sound artificial. However, new sounds will be released soon, so enjoy as the app only costs a few bucks. 😉

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Ghulam, the Potenza Drive app relies on information coming from an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE).
      When the ICE is operating, you will hear the car sounds.
      When the car is running in Electric mode, it will not send information needed to generate car sounds, so no sound will be heard in this mode.
      We hope our answer helps you! 😉

    Is it ok to have an obd2 plugged in ?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  Před 2 lety

      Hey Daniel, there's no harm in having an OBD-II ELM327 adapter connected to your car. 😉
      Most of these adapters consume virtually no power when in idle state. However, if you are not going to use your car for an extended period of time, it is recommended to unplug the adapter from the OBD-II port so that this device does not drain too much battery from the vehicle. ⚠️
