- Footage from Race 1 at Trac Môn Anglesey circuit. The weekend started well, my first time here and had a good day getting to learn the track on the test day. Managed to qualify with a 1:24 minute lap then managed to knock it down in the race 🏁
Race day started well, went from 16th on the grid and passed a few of the lads on early laps to get up to 3rd position in the Freshman group. I then clipped my footpeg peg on the left hand turn (off camber) before the finish line and came off. It raised my rear wheel off the floor and made the bike spin around on me, sending me across the track into the grass via a nice barrel role 🤦
The bike clipped the rumble strips and sent it up in the air rolling. Not great, had a lot of damage that I couldn't fix at the track, so that was the race weekend over 😔 The crash is at the 5:52 mark
Only real positive was I was doing ok and managed to drop to a 1:21 lap time. Time to fix the bike up over winter for next year. 😎

It’s the perfect motorcycle to really learn how to ride like a boss.
Unlucky. Going well until your off.
Glad you’re ok though
Yeah I was lucky, no injuries 😬
Going well there! Hope you’re ok after that. All the best for the future
Cheers mate. Yeah amazingly not a single bruise. 😬 Very lucky
Glad to see your ok suggy good bit of racing their taking the 2 guys at the same time liked that was their much damage
Thank you. Yeah I felt like I was getting in to it. I was still a bit all over the place on the track, but was my first time there I suppose. Shame I didn't get to try improve over the weekend. 😊
@@SuggyRacing well you did brilliant pal from what I saw in your video
Note to self. I need to cut my pegs before this happens to me! I’m getting my RH exhaust pipe down at Cadwell, I’m sure the peg isn’t that far behind on clearance. Glad you are ok. Might look at the Senior Freshman group for next year. Looks fun! 👍
Ps. Have you got a rev limiter? If so, which one?
Yeah I was leaning the bike a bit too far over. It was an off camber so got caught out. Yeah it's really good fun, had a great year doing it. Learned a lot, still got loads to learn too 🤣
You mean a shift light? It's a DRE shift light.
No, I've got a DRE light. I thought I heard you bounce it off a limiter, dragging out a gear, at one point in the vid.
Yeah I did when I was going into the second corner. But there's nothing additional on the bike, just how it is. 👍
Unlucky you was going well you’ll have to cut your foot pegs down I saw Mike hailwoods mechanic do that at the post TT
I think I need to stop leaning the bike so much. It caught me out with it being off camber. Lesson learned 🤣
Gutted for you mate! Running in podium positions and that happened! Looked big and fairly fast but at least you walked it off, I've high-sided at the same corner but was my very first trackday in the 2nd session on a rented bike...oops!
Hope to see you out racing next year, I've just entered for Oulton and was hoping to have one last ding-dong with you before I bow out. Pop along if you get change to come and watch
Hey mate. Yeah it was a biggie, lucky I didn't get hurt. Another CB rider had a similar crash and he fractured his pelvis 😬 Yeah I enjoyed the track and was going ok. I'll come watch the Oulton race. Save me a ticket please 👍
@@SuggyRacing definitely fortunate to walk away and it not have been worse. Will save you a ticket for sure mate, be good to see you again 👍
Cheers mate see you soon then 👍
Yikes, that was a biggie!!
On the plus side, more content for the channel. ‘The repair series’
Yeah it was. Was going well until that point. Ah well. Yeah people have said that to me, ha ha. I'll probably just get it working quick as I can so I can get back out there riding 😊
Is there a change that you can catch the ground with the feelers can it make you crash or do they just tickle your foot
Going very well there until it happened mate!
Thank you. Yeah was feeling ok on the bike until that happened. I suppose it's all part of learning to get better/quicker. On to next year 😁
@@SuggyRacing with any luck if I pull my finger out I might see you there 👍
Hey mate, saw your mod for the footpegs in another video, is there no way of getting adjustable shocks for the CB? Or even fitting slightly longer ones to raise the ride height as the back for more clearance?
Hey. You can move them up or down slightly in the yoke, but for racing they don't allow us to change anything with the fork. It has to be standard (other than a spring and oil change). So it's a case of trying to tweak things. Most the lads don't tend to have issues, but I've seen a few doing little bits to make the bike more suited to how they like. The plates I made definitely helped at Anglesey. They felt good and made the position a little more tucked in for my legs. 😁👍
I hope you are good! Come to drive in Switzerland mountains! Its safetier))
Tell that to Schaaf's spleen.
Danm I follow all the work than I saw the crash few months later. This shit hurt me from my sofa. It's look like you was leaning a lot with too much gas.
Ha ha, yeah it's never nice to see the bike go down. Luckily I didn't get hurt, the bike took all the force as it rolled. Yeah you are right, I definitely lean it too much, you can't get away with it on these bikes compared to a sport bike. It caught me out 🤦 Next time I'm at Anglesey, I'll definitely take that corner with less lean/speed 😁 Cheers for the comment and follow 👍
@@SuggyRacing I own a Cbf 500 and I put a bracket on it, it's feel like i have more sensation when I lean the bike, plus I won more speed on the corner. May be it's can help you with you riding style 🤷♂️.
SEND IT
Ha ha definitely did 🤣
Will you be doing Oulton and Cadwell?
Nah I won't be doing them, but that's not because of the bike. Got stuff on at home, so will be next year now before I get to race again. 👍
What race series is this?
It was the CB500 class racing with Thundersport. They closed down at the end of that year. Now everyone races with No Limits, NG or EMRA racing clubs 👍
@SuggyRacing thanks for the reply. Just looking at getting my first track bike and looking for a CB500
@@michaelsigsworth3570 it's a good one to start with. It's cheap to run and cheap to repair if you crash, which obviously happens as you get faster and push yourself. Everyone gets sucked into thinking they need a fast bike on track to do well, it's the opposite. All that happens is you get lazy and get bad habits. There's a huge following of these bikes, even BSB riders have got them or came from racing these bikes. Not to mention, they are just fun. Have a look on Facebook for 'UK honda cb500 racing' and 'Honda cb500 race parts' if you haven't already. You'll get loads of info on them and people always selling ready built bikes 👍
Бро ты как здоровье сам цел без травм ?
I'm ok thank you. I didn't get hurt which Is good. I'll get the bike fixed again 🙂👍
Me chama no zap por favor sou do Brasil sou especialista em cb 500
