    This video will show you how to custom profile your dye sublimation printer in this case a DNP-DS620A using an X-Rite i1Studio and will answer the question of should you custom profile your dye sublimation printer. This guide will work for any other dye sub printer too.
    For this video the media used is the standard stock DNP 4 x 6 print on glossy surface.
    This DNP Printer was purchased from Foto Club Incorporated in Santa Fe Springs CA

    Lastly and most important is the light box used in this video. It is loan to me from Graphic Technology Inc, GTI
    The model in this video is the PDV-3E Desktop viewer.

    There are 2 dimmable D50 Florescent bulbs at the top illuminating the light box.
    In the video at 1:05, I said that this light box is D65, that is a mistake, this light box is D50. Something to note is that D65 bulbs can be custom configured with GTI.

    Thanks for the Video, Art. DNP released a Metallic and Pearl media for the DS820/DS620 printers. Have you used this media? Do you find it to be worthwhile? Would you recommend a separate profile if we're going to use this media?

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  Před rokem

      I have seen this media, I love it! And if you use this I would use a separate profile.

    hello, does the calibration have to be repeated every time I change the media kit?

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  Před 2 lety

      You can but if the media is the same type, then I would just assumed margin of error. What we all do is critical but if we are printing through a dye sub, it can't be that color critical, it is more instant gratification.

    Is there any way to calibrate the printer using an iPad? Specifically in a photobooth environment

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  Před rokem

      No, iPad uses air print driver which does not play nice or at all with icc profile. Further more non of the apps support icc printing in iPad. Curse of the sandbox.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  Před rokem

      Sadly no, it is not so much the connection but the underpinning of the OS and what it allows and not allows the app to do.
