Image always looks reversed to you however is right for everyone else. If you flip it then everyone else will see it in reverse.
Good catch! Just tested and verified. UPDATE - no need to flip the image before adding to Teams.
I put some magic whiteboard up behind me for meetings and wrote the full (long) URL of the help site. Then I thought oh no it's back to front. So I rubbed it all out and wrote it all out again as mirror-image text. Then the first person I met with said, oh that's a shame it's showing backwards. D'oh!
@@KevinStratvert A handy option you may want to share with everyone is how to use OBS virtual camera to green screen videos or desktops behind the presenter while using Teams and similar conferencing tools. While we are in lockdown and training others using conferencing tools it will be a popular vlog. Keep the good work up - you've made the right decision.

@@KevinStratvert You can make lower thirds nicely in Powerpoint too, and then separately save them so you can float them in front of you in OBS with a background behind you (as long as you use green screen or similar)
I love that you used a cookie for the example. I feel like I always end up using delicious foods in my examples too because I record when I am hungry. On a side note I love this example. I actually didn’t even know that you could change the background. Thanks for the helpful tutorial Kevin! 😊
@Kevin Stratvert, you don't need to flip the image ! While it appears reversed for you, it'll appear properly for the others. Go ahead and test it by recording yourself in the Teams meeting.
I agree! When I flipped the image my audience sees it backwards. The benefit of what Kevin shows is that he can see it correctly.

I will be in a zoom meeting with lots of people, from other companies, later this week. So I've now made myself a lovely custom background with my company logo, my name and job title on a background picture showing the inside of our main building. It's going to look way more professional than any part of my house. Thanks Kevin.
Edit: Had the zoom meeting yesterday. Zoom asks if you have a greenscreen. I don't so I sat in front of a plain cream wall. My jumper was pale pink with darker pink arms. So everyone saw me as a floating head with detached arms. I loved it! But an hour and a half was far too long to be sitting there. I had to get up and move around.

My company might actually use this. Is there a way to upload background images to all members of an organization via let’s say the Teams admin center?
Nah you’d have to use a group policy to copy it into the path where the background images live on each domain joined PC, but the user would have to manually select that background in Teams themselves.
How would you go about doing the same thing on Skype?
Also, what about my request for Excel VBA?
DO NOT FLIP YOUR BACKGROUND IMAGE!!! While Teams always shows you your own video mirrored, it will look correct to the other attendees. So if you flip your background so it looks correct on your end it will look flipped for all other attendees.

Kevin another great video. Here's an issue that we are facing. To create a new channel or not. Some Teams have channels that are ghost towns and some channels have a long list of tabs where maybe a new channel should have being created. Surely we aren't the only ones faced with this? Thank you Kevin for this professional looking virtual background tips. :-) I currently monitor MS TEAMS online classes of Grades 6 to 10 of my school in Kathmandu. Each grade has minimum 3 to maximum 5 sections. AVERAGE OF 4 sections. That makes 20 teams. Each of these teams has minimum 6 to maximum 8 subjects (English, Nepali, Maths, Science, Social Studies, OBT, Computer Studies, HPE etc). Average of 7 subjects. My calendar gets cluttered with these schedules (7x20=140) between 9 am and 3pm everyday. Hence, it takes years for my calendar to load even when I decline RSVP of many schedules. How can I “remove”/decline these schedules in bulk (at one go) and keep only schedules of my interests for the day? Do you have better idea of watching over these online classes while in progress, all at one time? Currently I log in via 3 different devices and can watch over 6 different classes at a time. With 6 different devices, at the most, I can attend 12 classes at a time. But it’s horrifyingly challenging. Please help. Any better tool?? Will always remain grateful for your expertise.

Hi, thanks for your video and the great tutorial to use PPT to create new backgrounds for Teams. Unfortunately the “issue” you noticed about the mirrored image is not a problem, and mirroring the image instead of fixing will generate an error. Let me explain: the image appears as mirrored only inside the preview: other attendants will see a mirrored stream of your preview, so the original image is good as it is

Hey Kevin I am a great fan of your videos. I am a teacher and teaching multiple classes. Each class is organized as a team. Now sometimes we combine classes. Is there a way in teams to invite multiple channels to a team meeting. Currently we can select only one channel and we have to create multiple combined class teams to fulfill it. Is it is not technically possible what are the alternatives.

You can’t search for stock images when you’re offline.

Great video. That's also how I do it. However, with more than one participant in gallery view, only a portion of the image is visible. I need to figure out which format best to use in that case, so the logo of my company is not cut off all the time. The annoying thing is that I can't easily test that as I can't see myself in the gallery view (as most competitors allow you to do). The very best would be to have the option to upload a 16:9 background for full view and a separate format for gallery view.

@@EstherCrichton I wish so! What I have done: I put the corporate logo very close to the middle, having it sit on my shoulder so to say. Then it won't cut off. But looks strange in some cases.

Kevin, I have office 365 but under insert image, I do not have the option for "Stock Images" all I have is "this device" and "online". Also, my "Design Ideas" do not appear either. Which version of PowerPoint do I need? Thanks!
I'm using the latest version that comes with Microsoft 365. I believe many of these features require a subscription.

When you save as jpg or png...is one file type more compressed?
Both are compressed images. JPEG tends to be better for photos and PNG is used for images like logos. Hi James, this is one way. You can open the command line, by going to START-->RUN--> Type in cmd and hit ENTER. Then in the CMD window, at the prompt, type in (or copy and paste) the following without the quotes. "DIR /B %userprofile%\documents > %userprofile%\desktop\FilesInMyDocuments.txt". Then you find the list on your Desktop in the new file named FilesInMyDocuments.txt.

Can you please make a video on how to get rid of the annoying shadow or "halo" effect? Even with the simple "blue" effect, parts of my face fade in and out, and yet I never see this in anybody's CZcams demos.

This would be an additional plug in with a screen recording software. That is, after downloading the screen-recording software (OBS in most cases), you can download a 'mouse highlighter pack' that can be used when screen recording
