A tip for tapping - is forward three turns then back one, it takes longer but your hole is clean tapped. Good video.

@@HewAndAwe (this made me think) when holding the tap or die I always turned 90, changed hand position, turned a further 90, and changed hands again going 90 again then changed hands on the tap or die and did a reverse 90. So in effect your cutting down ¾ each set of movements. After a few turns this comes automatic. I was taught this in school some 50 years ago and used it when required since.

Cheers Tony! I spent the christmas days and till after new year getting it into the shop, was a remodel of the shop needed too.. But, man! WHAT an epic saw, every time I use it I'm grinning!!! Action price 600 quid, less than my Bosch table saw!

On an old wadkin the fence opens slightly past the arbour reducing the pinch (The fence is not exactly parallel to the blade!). Hence why the blade tilts towards the fence. Its not ideal but they did think about it. Check out Jack Frostburg for setting up old wadkins.
Mins dead straight which is interesting, seems also mind the only one that slides freely to. Most peeps complain about the fence, I couldn’t be more happier with it. With the bars placed to the left that sorts out the dicy idea of the blade tilting towards the fence too.
As always, a fantastic job with the whole process. That is some insane work on the dust extraction! Now I'm curious how it works. Looking forward to seeing that set up in your shop and ripping some stock.👊
Cheers buddy! Was a case of a 3hp motor is gonna proper chuck dust everywhere, I wasn't disappointed! I dont know if its just me or the perfectionist in me but I'd like it to be better at dust collection, but it's probably exceptional for most as it is...

Im struggling with it to be honest, there's a LOT of different factors that make it work or fail, I'm still playing with the idea - one thing is VERY sure it really comes down to your set up and all the factors involved, its not as clear cut (pardon the pun) as hooked on wood suggests! If you have his saw, extraction etc etc I think it works, but its far from that on my set up, I'm trying to figure out the factors that arent helping daily.. Like everything on youtube take it with a pinch of salt.
@@HewAndAwe I am actually making a few zero clearance blanks from 18mm Phenolic birch ply, so I will also be experimenting with my Dewalt DW745. I am just waiting for some 12mm 8mm Grub screws for the levelling feet to arrive.

LOL! I have that blue, green and orange "pile of shit" parallel drill press and I can also confirm it is a "piece of a shit!" used it once, it was bollocks and have never used it again. 😀

Yeah I have, and have done before but its SO much work on top of a lot or work anyway editing and filming. Its not just add words to the screen, I have to make it work with in the frames shown time wise...

@@HewAndAwe Theyre great I used to use one at University. I bought a toshiba inverter for it but dont have a clue about how to connect it...3 phase wires are different colours...FML! I have to squeeze through my wee sweatshop.

@@kevinronald4137 Ah-okay-gotchya! Yeah Ive watched a lot of his vids, was why I asked. Theres just one thing though, it really comes down to your workshop, where the dust collectors are, soooo many variables is what I mean, there just isn't one answer that suites all - its my biggest pet hate of youtube, most punt it that way.

I have a Wadkin AGS 12 which I have restored. And now I’ve started to think about how to solve the dust collection. And found your great clip!
I noticed you chose quite thick plexi boards. (Or was it some other polymer?)
What is the thickness? Any trial and error on this to decide which thickness was needed?

Whats the motor running that blade? I found upgrading to the 3hp was mental how much dust I was covered in, to the point I dont wanna ever take off the upper dust extraction! I used perspex, or what ever its called these days the only reason I used that thickness was it was kicking around the workshop left over from making a car splitter, and honestly I'm glad it was thick so I had enough meat to screw it together and not glue it, made working it all out easy and less wastage in materials taking it apart..
@@HewAndAwe Hi Ben, I have the original Brook 2900 rpm 3hp motor.
So, what thickness did you use…?
I have a sheet of 10 mm. Perhaps a bit too thin to assemble with screws. Maybe screws and glue (Acrifix) together.
I’ll experiment a bit.
Ben. I have purchased AGS 10 and collect next week. The saw has a three phase motor but I will need to purchase a single phase. Could I ask where you purchased your motor from.

Why you didn't show dust collection working?
Hi Barry, I couldn't really show that till the saw was all back together, I did show that in the next video. This is the problem splitting the whole build up into shorter length vids - trouble is peeps want to watch no more than 10-15 min vids, I don't get that but that seems to be the way things are on CZcams.

Was a joke to do with nasa working in fractions and them coming very unstuck sending drawings out to Europe to make parts for them, its really time we were all on the same page dont you think.
Certainly. Or at least take the time to think about where they're sending the drawings and then going to the exceptional effort of clicking the correct unit on whatever program they're using. It's not like anyone is doing drafting by hand.
