The 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio will be a 1000-HP electric monster

  • Both the stunningly exquisite Alfa Romeo Giulia and its menacing Quadrifoglio variant will transition to the electric era. Last week, Alfa's CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato visited various European newsrooms and officially affirmed the future of the Giulia sedan. Crucially, the Giulia nameplate will endure the transition to electrification and will be transferred to the forthcoming EV STLA Large platform of the Stellantis Group. The STLA Large platform is derived from the Giorgio platform, which is now utilized for the construction of the Giulia. In an interview with the U.K.'s Top Gear, Imperato said that the electric Giulia will have a maximum range of 500 miles and will be equipped with an 800-volt design, enabling rapid charging.Regrettably, it seems that the transition to electrification will result in the discontinuation of the powerful twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 engine in the current Giulia Quadrifoglio. The advantage of the changeover is a substantial augmentation of power. According to Imparato's statement to Top Gear, the standard version will generate 350 horsepower, while the Veloce variant will deliver 800 horsepower. Additionally, he stated that the electrified Quadrifoglio will effectively increase its power output to 1000 horsepower, which is twice its current level.Given that we are two years away from the release of the new car, we anticipate that those numbers will undergo some modifications before the launch, but we are enthusiastic about the projected values anyway. Imparato emphasized the significance of upholding one's integrity during the transition to electrification, stating, "I aim to prevent any discomfort you may experience when transitioning to electric vehicles." The issue at hand for me is not whether or not to transition to an electric vehicle (EV), but rather to ensure that the vehicle possesses the appropriate level of maneuverability and responsiveness.
    The Veloce and Quadrifoglio may use a comparable arrangement to the forthcoming Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, which incorporates three electric motors-one in the front and two in the back. However, it is anticipated that Alfa Romeo will utilize a skateboard battery structure, whereas Maserati's battery occupies a portion of the "engine" bay.
