08:02 jamaa alfnaa was estableshed centries ago before the french colonlisation in 1912 !! It was established in 11 th centry by alomaravid monarchy as an execution square for outlaws and rebells !
Jamaa lefna is older than france itself
El Fena also means the yard or a square ..from the pics there is a big yard by the mosque... in other words the square mosque

Honestly speaking i’m from Marrakech i know very well the city when it comes to the big square i don’t like eating the head lamb there it’s not the best place to eat in, if you would like to eat it ask about LAMEN.

جامع الفنا هي الساحة او الباحة،نقول في اللغة العربية الفناء الخارجي اي الساحة الخارجية،

أصل الأسم هو أن وسط الساحة كان هناك مسجد في طور البناء أيام حكم السعديين قبالة مسجد الكتبية لكي يجعلوا منه مسجدا يشهد على عظمة دولتهم و أطلقوا عليه إسم "جامع الهناء" ...لكن بعد سقوط الدولة السعدية و دخول العاصمة مراكش آنذاك في دوامة الصراع بين العلويين،السملاليين و الدلائيين على حكم المغرب ، أصبح ذلك المسجد خرابا و مسكنا للسكارى و المجرمين و مرتعا للأزبال و الفضلات ...فأطلق عليه المراكشيون إسم جامع لفنا عوض جامع لهنا ...لأنه شهد فناءه و نهايته بعد سقوط عاصمة الدولة السعدية و مع مراكش التي لم تعد منذ ذلك التاريخ إلى الآن عاصمة للمغرب.
